Sewer mission II

1151 Words
“Max, I am not sure if I got this right or not, but there should be a new tunnel built. There’s a new shopping mall, and the residential area was built two years ago, and the renovation includes the new area into district three sewage system.” “Even if we know all of that, we still couldn’t find the new tunnel. After all, I’ve swept the sewer carefully one more time while you are looking at the city layout. Marie, how about you overlap the old district three layouts with the sewer blueprint and compare it with the new layout and this time, while you use the old sewer blueprint, you can predict how you will design the new sewer and where the tunnel should be built.” “I can do that, but it might take some time. Max, I think you can go back and report this back to the United Heroes association, and the mission could be considered as complete.” “Can I do that? After all, I haven’t found out the truth about the situation, and it will leave a bad taste in my mouth if I leave right now. So try to do what I suggested before.” “Um… okay.” Marie then does what Max told her, and after some time, she sends the new sewer layout based on her prediction. “Max… I really think that you should get back first.” “Why do you say this from earlier? Is something wrong?” “It’s just my feelings but, the moment I couldn’t find the layout of the sewer after renovation is very strange. Usually, the new sewer layout will be available on the United Heroes database. After all, it was an important infrastructure of the district. So it’s like someone is purposely hiding something.” “If that’s the case, then it's more than a must for me to find out about it.” “If you say so. Just be careful.” Max then headed to the area where Marie predicted the new tunnel would be. However, it’s all dead end, and there’s nothing out of place. “How is it? Did you find anything?” “No, it’s just a dead end.” Max is going to turn his body and leave, but then he noticed something is strange. Max might not be sure if it is about anything else, but his sensitivity is relatively high. He can feel the wind existing on the other side of the wall. “Wait, Marie. I think there is something.” Max put his hand on the wall and closes his eye. This time, he can feel the wind clearer. There seemed to be a tunnel at the other side of the division since he can feel the wind moving around over there. “Marie, I think your drawing is accurate, and there is a hidden tunnel at the other side. I will try to break the wall.” Max then used the wind to cover his right hand and asked it to spin around at high speed like a drill. Max then uses the wind drill to attack the dead end. *brrrrr* The sound of friction created when the wind cuts away the stone can be heard loud inside the sewer as it echoed. After a couple of minutes of digging through the wall, Max can finally see some lights from the other side as he managed to create a hole. “It seemed that this is the right place. I’ll keep on drilling this wall.” He finally creates a hole big enough for him to pass through, so he decided to investigate the new tunnel. “Max, be careful. Since there’s no blueprint to the area, you might get lost if you’re not paying attention.” “Don’t worry.” Max treaded the sewers carefully with a flashlight on hand. Unfortunately, this new tunnel lighting system isn’t included in the sewer network, so Marie doesn’t have any way to turn on the lights. “What’s this smell?” After walking for a few minutes, Max can smell something rotten in the air. Using one hand to cover his mouth and nose, Max braved himself to proceed forward. *c***k* Max directed his flashlight downwards as he stepped on something hard and saw bones piled up below his foot. “What is this? It seemed to be the bones of some animals. There even a skeleton over there. Could it belong to the people missing in the area?” After noticing the situation, Max realized that there seemed to be a danger hidden inside the tunnel. “Marie, I saw bones piled up over here. It seemed that there’s something fishy here.” “I am accessing the camera that is attached to your face mask. First, let me scan the area.” Marie isn’t proficient in using the drones due to her weak control, and they come out with a mini-camera attached to Max’s face mask to make sure that she could oversee the situation. “The bones aren’t organized, and it doesn’t seem that someone is throwing them out here on purpose. Not to mention that there’re no remains of their flesh as it seemed that a powerful acid has stripped off everything except the bones. It’s more similar to a monster nest than a boneyard.” “So, are you saying that there’s a monster that is living here and eating the humans?” “That might be it. Max, I think you can go back now and make the report to the United Heroes headquarters. Since humans have fallen victim, this might as well ranked as a C-rank mission and might be too much for you to handle.” Max also knows that he has gathered enough evidence, and it is the right time to go back. This whole thing is suspicious, from the new tunnel layout that is not on the United Heroes database to the hidden tunnel that is blocked by a brick wall. Someone is clearly hiding all of this from the masses. Seeing the pile of bones, Max knows that it wasn’t a good intention too. Max wanted to go back because he feels something is wrong. Max looked forward, and at a distance, he can see two yellow pupils glowing in the darkness. Max, on reflex, directed the flashlight in that direction, and at once, he finally sees what kind of creature is being hidden here and piling up bones in the area.
