S-rank hero

1136 Words
Two yellow pupils glowing in the darkness don’t even flinch at all when Max’s flashlight is directed at it. Rows of sharp teeth that can rip off everything it bites. An iconic shape that could create terror for everyone that seen it in front of them. “A crocodile?” If it were only an ordinary crocodile, Max wouldn’t be this surprised. However, the crocodile in front of him is at least two meters tall, and its head is almost touching the tunnel’s ceiling. Not to mention that the crocodile is walking on two feet with its front limbs smaller than its rear. Just like a mini T-rex. *Roaaaar* The creature let out a roar that seemed to be the cause of the noises that the people in the area reported. “Max, quickly run away. It is not something that you can fight.” Hearing Marie’s voice, Max returned to reality. He immediately turned his body and run as the creature chased after him while roared. “Marie, do you know what that is?” “Yes, that creature is called Batrachopus Grandis. They are only regarded as myths previously but now, looking at it, I am sure that it is the said creature. So they can be said as a prehistoric crocodile that is bipedal. You should know that every ancient creature is considered a B-rank threat at least.” Max is trying his best to run away while listening to Marie’s explanation. There are dangerous creatures out there, and starting from B-rank, a mission regarding their extermination can be found. Yeti, chimera, griffin, werewolf are some of them. However, even if they are of a B-rank threat, the mission to exterminate them usually will be commissioned to A-rank hero as on the same rank, the chance to defeat these creatures are meager.  It was because these creatures have something called animal instinct that makes them harder to face. Even when they are cornered, they could still fight back. There is no surrender in their dictionary, as they followed the laws of the jungle where the strong rules and the weak perish. “Now, what should I do?” Max doesn’t know what he should do as he can only run away for now. “Max, I have sent an emergency signal to the United Heroes association, but help won’t come for at least another fifteen-minute. So you should keep on running.” Max couldn’t even escape from the sewer as he is afraid that the creature will follow him outside and go on a rampage indiscriminately on the surface. “At least, I should try to fight back. Running like this doesn’t sit well with me.” Max tried to send a couple of wind bullets behind him to attack the Batrachopus Grandis, but the wind bullet doesn’t do anything as it ricochets off its thick skin. “Damn, the wind bullet doesn’t even do anything to it. It even looked angrier because feeling provocated.” These fifteen minutes seemed to be an hour-long for Max since he didn’t dare to slow down his speed at all. By now, he is already familiar enough with the sewer as he has circled it tens of times. “Max, the backup from the United Heroes, is here. You can bait the creature to the sewer entrance.” “Great!” Max headed towards the sewer entrance, and by the time he is nearing the place, he can see someone standing there under the spotlight from the sun. Just like an angel that has been sent to save him. The person he sees is dazzling like a diamond, with gorgeous long silver hair and a fully endowed body that isn’t losing out to swimsuit models. Not to mention her skin-tight golden costume that is exposing some of her smooth jade-like skin at some parts for ease of movement. Max might not know who she is, but Marie, dubbed as the heroes’ encyclopedia, immediately yells out her name. “Alexandra the great! I can’t believe that an S-rank hero is actually dispatched to help a hero in a D-rank mission!” “S-rank hero?” Max is very shocked when he heard Marie’s words. Max is still running towards Alexandra before he sees her smile and spoke out in a melodious voice. “It’s alright, boy. No need to run. You can take cover behind me.” Moving past Alexandra, Max stopped running and turned his body to look at the monster that has been chasing after him and Alexandra’s back. “Look what we have here. This reptile isn’t cute at all.” The horrible monster that has been chasing after Max is regarded as a simple animal in front of Alexandra. As if it understands what Alexandra said, the Batrachopus Grandis roared at her and opening its mouth wide in an attempt to swallow her whole. As he is standing nearly behind Alexandra, he can see her every move. Alexandra raises her left hand forward while her right-hand closes her yawning mouth. Such a gentle movement from Alexandra makes Max panic inside. Can that frail-looking hand stop the monstrous charge? Max imagined that Alexandra was thrown backward due to the monster’s attack, but contrary to his expectation, Alexandra left hand managed to stop the bipedal crocodile attack. She even moved her hands downwards to close the Batrachopus Grandis opened mouth. “Hmm. I’m glad that I come here. This reptile’s power is at A-rank. Any other A-rank heroes that are on stand-by at the headquarters will have a hard time against it.” Even though Alexandra said that, she looked to be relatively at ease handling the monster. “How about you be a good boy and sleep for a while?” The monster tried to struggle, but it couldn’t get away from Alexandra's left hand as if a mountain pressured his body. “Listen to me, okay?” Alexandra then uses her free right hand to send a punch at the monster’s face. Max couldn’t see any difference from her movement, but the moment her right hand comes into contact with the monster’s left cheek, the creature is immediately thrown like a bullet to the sides, and its body is buried deep at the sewer’s wall. The process is so fast that Max’s brain couldn’t keep up with it. As a result, he is still isn’t sure of what is happening right now.
