Max's new ride II

1090 Words
“Since I’ve watched you since the quarterfinals, I’ve evaluated your abilities and make a suitable adjustment to the motorcycle. I hope that you like it.” Max now knows why Elliot said that he watched him compete in the competition. The real reason for that is to assess Max’s ability and make sure that the motorcycle fits him like a glove. It can be seen how professional the Hyper Garage is. Max couldn’t wait any longer to see his future ride. Following behind Elliot as he leads the way, Max finally saw a motorcycle parked nicely at the racing track pit-stop area. The bike's color is metallic blue with a hue of white, just like the clear sky. Just looking at the futuristic-looking bike, Max falls in love with the design at first sight. “Let me introduce you to your future partner. As we have agreed before, the engine is a 1500cc electric one. The top speed on this thing is 400 kilometers per hour with 0-100 kilometers within 1,4 seconds. From just the engine perspective, I can say that it is a beast. Not to mention we added some special addition for this according to your ability.” “To my ability?” “Yes. The top speed is 400 kilometers per hour on paper, but it can go faster than that. By using your wind power, that is to increase the aerodynamic by negating the effect of wind resistance. You can also boost the bike speed from behind using wind power, and I believe it might even reach 500 kilometers per hour if you used your ability at the same time.” What Elliot said makes sense, and Max can imagine himself doing that. It wasn’t hard since acceleration when running or dashing by using his ability is basically the same thing. Only this time, Max won’t be boosting himself but the bike instead. “That’s only the engine. The body is a mixture of titanium and steel. It can protect you from bullets and blast explosions with wheels that are empowered by self-healing rubber that will never suffer a flat tire. Up to this point, it is all based on the deal that we made when you come to visit the garage.” Max nods his head as up to this point, it is all the same with the specification that they agreed upon when he visited the Hyper Garage. “Now, we’re going to talk about the modification that we feel is necessary for the bike. Please, come closer if you don’t mind.” Hearing that, Max feels confused. Isn’t the introduction to the bike should have been finished since what he ordered is already fulfilled? Nearing the bike, it is 70 cm wide and 2.5 meters long. It is definitely not a slim bike, but Max is confident that it could perform sharp turns and maneuver that is only possible on a small bike. Elliot then looked at Max with sparkling eyes as he explained the next feature. With a press of a button on the handle, the bike suddenly summoned a spherical shield that protected the rider’s seat. It is transparent but doesn’t look weak at all. “This is one of our latest technology, the electric shield. Since the bike runs on an electric engine, we decided to install this. The defensive power will be depending on how much electricity you want to allocate to the shield. It will consume about 3% of the bike’s battery for one activation, and it could block an attack from a C-rank hero. If you are facing an A-rank hero, blocking one attack will consume 10% of the energy. Theoretically, you could block an S-rank hero attack if you use 99% of the bike’s battery. However, it doesn’t make sense since you won’t be able to use the bike afterward.”  Max nodded after hearing Elliot's explanation. After all, the feature of the electric shield is impressive enough for him. If he meets someone of S-rank strength, he doubts that he will use the bike in the fight as the S-rank enemy could easily defeat him along with the bike. “Next, how about giving this beauty a little ride?” Max gladly takes up on Elliot’s offer since that is the reason why he is here today. “The way to operate it is just like any other bike. You’ll just need to get used to its acceleration, and all will be fine. If you’re moving inside the city, there’s a pedestrian mode that will reduce the acceleration to 0-100 kilometers within 3 seconds. This is to make sure that you’ll be driving within the city speed limit.” Max can feel the quality of the seat’s cushion right away after sitting on the rider's seat. His bottom immediately stuck unto the seat as if it was made only for him. Gripping the handle that makes his posture leaning forward like a MotoGP racer, Max can now see the bike’s interface. A lot of parameters are shown on the screen, from the temperature, battery level, collision radar, speed, and map of the nearby area. Strangely enough, it isn’t hard to read and giving clear information to the rider. The handle itself fits perfectly on Max’s hand, not too big or too small, and it wasn’t slippery at all. Pressing the start engine button, the roar of a beast waking up from its sleep can’t be heard. Unlike regular motorcycles that used fuel, an electric engine is known to be quiet. Max also looked at the control of the bike to familiarize himself. There’s no gear shifter since the bike is running on an electric engine which is already automated. However, the rest of the control is just like a regular motorcycle: turn signals, horn, front and rear brake pedal, and accelerator. “Ah, before that, please take this. Now, enjoy the ride.” Elliot then handed a helmet that looked very cool, and Max put it on without hesitation. After that, Elliot takes a step back as he is giving room for Max to take off. Pulling on the accelerator, Max officially set off with his new motorcycle.
