“Are you planning a heist? And I am not interested in celebrities… of course, my seven fine boys are an exception.” Ooh! That giddy smile on her face. It just brightens my day to see her look so cheerful, although I am quite jealous that I am not the reason behind it, and it’s just her oldie Army heart.
“It’s more like a priest event. So, you don’t need to worry Granny.” I reassured her, finally shifting my right foot on the tile, now that the cat and bag reveal event was done.
“Whatever. Just come back on 23rd Oct.” Gosh! Grandmother is so freaking worried about my absence on just a single day!
GenZ Sad life.
“Grams. What is one of the meaningful gifts you gave to Grandpa?” She took a rather long sip from the cup, trying to form a fake answer, or remembering a past she wanted to recreate?
“A wine bottle.” Quite a simple approach, and not so meaningful except the gesture sounding; Lets drink and shrink the bed with our bodies!
Then again, they were old people and I am taught to take the best from them, which I will do, and Gift the best wine bottle to Gabriel on my arrival there; to show my undimming power and a ray of light to his problems, and life in total.
Rest, he can assume the meaning of it to be whatever he wants it to be. Hopefully not the bed meaning.
“Vhree. There is something you need to remember always.”
Vhree; Grandmother is going to be extremely serious about something random now.
“Virtue of oneself is one’s pride, respect always fills the greed of money and being a heartbreaker is always better than being a home breaker.”
I couldn’t agree less with everything, well, sometimes money does feed stomach’s instead of respect and what the hell was with the last part?
“You are being weird Grams.” She gave me a knowing smile, which looked rather sick than assurance. Does she also know something and is hiding it from me?
Why is everyone doing this to me?
And where did I stand about the last part of Grandmother’s knowledge. I was breaking a heart, and even breaking a brother’s bond. Maybe the second time.
I fail to understand why am I always stuck to choose between them both. Fate is too prudent, and a cruel virgin.
Does that mean I am a heartbreaker and a home breaker, a 1 + 1 combo pack?
Feeling numb with whatever this feeling was, I stood up, collected my belongings, and clasped my watch on my right wrist, and rechecked if it was tightly fit or not. Which it was.
“Ask Greymon Gramps to replace these calendars with my edition of months. I look sexy in my October page, a black denim set. And Grams these choices of calendar’s are so gloomy, and they suck!” I nit-picked and went to the blue door handle, she put me in a tight existential crisis spot, so the least payback I could do is make her room beautiful.
“They were Richard’s choice.”
My feet glued to the floor, and my face drained the blood out to my gums. It was Father’s choice!
“Can I take a look?” I asked, rushing over to the set on Grandmother’s equipment table. It was birds.
This cannot be father’s choice at all. Something is wrong.
He hated birds. The last year when Grandfather brought a large painting of swans to put in the main hall route to the office room Daddy had made a huge scene, although he was a person who would never go against Grandfather even if the biggest betrayal was rewarded to him from him.
I flipped the pages and checked the other month pictures. It wasn’t a surprise anymore because all of them were birds. Being confused and overly reactive I went through the pages again. It was just any other calendar, nothing weird or special.
“What is it?” Grams asked me. I nodded nothing. “Take your medicines on time.”
I said to her while placing it on the table again, and I need not to say Grandmother about her medicine because her belief in technology will keep her alive, the notifications she sets herself to even drink some water.
And maybe I was just overthinking just now. This could be just some other random thing father had chosen for Grandmother because it matched the vibes of the room.
I need to stop over analysing and connecting everything to nothing. But what if there was some mysterious connection between the month numbers and his missing car. There might also be a possibility that the murder was ordered after either getting what they wanted from father, and to keep him silenced forever.
Or in the spite of not finding the ‘item’ or whatever it is, and they killed him to scare someone who might be above my father. But it was Grandfather who stood overhead of Daddy, and if that was the case then there is a possibility that the car is not actually missing but been collected by a bigger owner?
There must be something the opposition wanted–still wants–from Ashtrick family, that is the only reason I could find to be threatened, and they must have not found the thing they are searching.
They, or he, or she, is just throwing a dangerous bait to check if I know about the ‘it item’s’ location.
Does this mean that Grandfather knows the location of father’s missing car?
