Chapter 4 Alma POV I eagerly opened the files and read the contract, it says that they had like to employ me as a part time dancer for Jayden’s band. As a part time dancer, I will have to live in the band’s house for ten days and train regularly, if I was seen to be hardworking and Jayden wish to work with me, my days of contract will be extended but if he doesn’t love my skill, I will be sent away but paid. It says in conclusion that if I like to sign up the contract, I should sign and call the number below. The signing up payment is $5,000. I jumped up on seeing the amount, this $5,000 will go a long way in my family’s life. I hurriedly signed it without thinking and ran out looking for Jayden’s manager. I do not seem to know where he went to, probably Jayden’s class. I took to my heels and ran towards Jayden’s class, cause of how eager and joyful I was, I didn’t know when my leg slipped, I stumbled and almost fell but a hand stopped me from falling. With the document still in my hand, I turned to see who helped me from falling. No no! It’s a dream! It can’t be him. . He made me stand to my feet and looked at me broadly. “Stanley!” I called in adoration. What could he have come to do in our school? “Are you surprised to see me?” He asked softly. “Erm…yeah, yeah… Do you come here to visit someone?” I asked him. He smiled and turned back, he signalled for someone to come closer and a lady revealed herself, she was holding a document. “Good afternoon, Alma.”The lady greeted with a cheerful smile. ” Good afternoon.” I answered politely. “We are impressed on how you danced with Clifford’s band crew, not to be too forward, are you a contracted dancer with his band?” She asked while maintaining the smile on her face. “Erm..not yet but…” Before I could completed my statement, she interrupted. “Good! We do have an offer for you, it’s a contract actually.” She said and stretched the document to me. I was already holding the one that Jayden’s manager gave me with my right hand so I collected that with my left hand. “What does it contain , please?” I questioned. “We’ll love you to come over to Stanley’s band house and come and join his dancers, we really love your skills and we will pay you well.” The lady said. “The signing up fee is $10,000…. just for agreeing to sign up with us, we’ll pay you $10,000 immediately.” She said. “You mean if I take my pen and sign this document, you will forward $10,000 to me, right now?” I questioned. “Why don’t you sign it first and see the miracle.” She answered. I sighed and looked at the document in my right hand. “Jayden’s band had just offered me a contract and I had signed it, I was going to submit it to Jayden’s manager when you met me.” I complained. “Is their signing up free greater than ours?” She questioned. “Not at all, theirs is $5,000.” I answered. “Well, get a T pex and clean it.” The lady said and I sighed briefly. It’s a hard decision to make, choosing between Stanley and Jayden has to be one of the greatest decision of my life. We heard steps approached and we all diverted our attention towards those that were yet to reveal themselves. It was Bob’s manager and one of Jayden’s brothers. “Alma, have you signed it?” Jayden’s manager questioned. “Erm…” I stuttered. He walked to me and collected the document from him, he opened it and said; “Good!” As he tried to walk away from me, I said; “Erm…I have a better…” “Keep it, an agreement is an agreement and you have signed it already, you are now obligated to fulfil your terms of the contract, if you will like to object the contract you willingly signed, you may sue us to court.” He said and turned to start walking away. “And…” He said suddenly and turned to me. “The address of jayden’s band house will be sent to your mobile number, resume immediately on Sunday.” . He then walked away. Edwin POV . Jayden fumed in anger before David. . “What exactly has come upon you? Who told you I can’t do without her?” Jayden shouted. “Calm down, please.” David pleaded. “I did it for this band.” “For what band? don’t I have a say over this band anymore?” Jayden asked angrily. “The girl made us win in the last contest, she would make us win future contest, so what is the fuss all about?” Earl asked. He’s gentle but has never been afraid or nervous of speaking to Jayden unlike the rest of us. Jayden went to sit and with his legs crossed, he said; “That contract she signed is terminated.” “Of course not, as a matter of fact, she would be coming to live with us here for ten days.” “What!” Jayden screamed. “I! live with a poor girl? how did you want me to survive? ” “Really? thought Edwin said you watched her dance for close to ten minutes. We know you loathe poor people but…what we need is the dancing skill in Alma.” David said. “I know you didn’t send me to offer her the contract, I did that when I heard rumour that Stanley and his band were coming to your school. I thought of what they wanted to come to do in your school and the only thing I could reason was that , they were probably coming to offer Alma a contract. If they offer her a contract before we do, we will lose a girl with such potential.” David explained. “I don’t care if we loose her, I was planning on organizing another context and I was so sure that I would see someone better than Alma.” Jayden said David then turned his face at us and back at him. “Will you fire me for carrying out an order you didn’t give?” He asked. Jayden raised his head after few minutes and said; “I won’t fire you, I just want you to tell her the contract is now invalid.” Jayden stood and asked David; “Is that clear?” David swallowed and answered; “Sure.” Jayden then walked inside. David’s face turned sour immediately, he sat where Jayden had stood and asked; “Do you think I acted too fast?” “No, you did well. Just speak to Alma that Jayden doesn’t want her in sight, you can pay her few thousand dollars , she will appreciate it.” Earl said. “I should have let her signed the contract of Stanleys’ if I know that Jayden would react this way.” David said and just then, Jayden came into sight again. “How many days was she suppose to spend with me?” He asked. “Just ten days, according to the contract, if you did not like her skills after ten days, we would send her away.” David answered. “10 day.” He mumbled and sighed. “Not bad, let her come.” Jayden said. “Really!” David exclaimed happily and chuckled. Jayden walked away with her stern look.
