Edwin POV

.

Jayden, Earl, Elmer, Harold and I walked inside the band’s building, we all sat at the living room happily.

David walked in few seconds later and said; “Congrautlations.”

Jayden lowered his head and didn’t reply David.

“Are you surprised Alma showed up?” David asked.

“Shouldn’t I? did you arrange that?” Jayden asked David with a cold look.

“Why would I? But I was glad she showed up otherwise, there is no way you could have won Stanley…” David said.

“You think I won because of her little performance?” Jayden asked.

“Yes brother. We all know we lead Stanley because of Alma…to me frank.” Earl said.

Jayden stood and walked away without saying a word.

We arrived at school the following morning, we were walking towards her class when Jayden suddenly paused and said; “Harolld, Almer, Earl

…. you can proceed to the class, I’ll join you soon.”

Harold, Almer and Earl walked away subserviently.

“Edwin, do you know what class that poor girl is?” Clifford asked me.

“Class 7.” I answered briefly.

“Take me there.” He said and I led him to the where Class 7 was.

We stood by the entrance of the class and all the students who had been discussing casually stopped and gazed their attention on Jayden.

“OMG! Jayden is here.

Jeez! Whom did he come for?

Gosh….see how handsome he is.

See his lips….I can’t die without kissing it…” These and many more were many more words from students to Clifford.

“Seems she’s not in class.” I whispered into Clifford’s ear.

Clifford then walked out of the class with me but we were still around the vicinity of the class.

“Where could she be?” He asked.

“Give me a minute, let me make enquiry.” I said and he nodded.

I then walked back inside the class and sighted a girl, I walked to her and said; “Did Alma have a friend here?”

“Sure…that girl.” She pointed at a girl with a big green hair.

I walked to her and she furrowed her brow in surprise.

I could see nervousness expressed all over her face.

“Your name is…?” I asked.

“Jennifer.” She answered softly and politely.

“Alma seems to be absent, is she still coming to school?” I asked her.

“Yes….yes, please….she’s still coming.” She answered.

“Okay, should we wait for her or you would come to tell me in my class when she comes?” I questioned.

She checked her watch and said; “I think she’s around already, Alma comes before 7;30 AM.”

“Where could she have branched?” I asked her.

“She’s in school, she’s probably in one of the empty rooms upstairs, she goes there at her leisure times to rehearse.” She said.

“Rehearse? like rehearse how to dance?” I asked.

“Yes.” She answered.

“Come with me.” I said and she followed me out to meet Jayden.

I explained all that Jennifer said to him.

Jayden then spoke softly to me, he hates to speak with poor people or average people.

“jayden want you to lead us to the empty room.” I said to her and she nodded.

She lead us to the room and said; “Right here.”

I peeked through the window and saw Alma dancing perfectly to one of Jayden’s song that was being played on her phone.

She was dancing beautifully and skillfully.

“What did you see?” Jayden asked me and I took my face away from the window

“You may leave.” I said to Jennifer and she walked away.

“You need to see it yourself.” I said to Clifford.

He hesitated for few seconds before peeking through the window.

I was surprised that after ten minutes, Jayden was still watching Alma dance

Clifford took his head off the window and gaped at me.

I knew better to keep quiet.

“She can really dance.” He said softly and I nodded.

I was glad he admitted it himself.

He thought for a while and said; “But she’s poor.”

“You can ignore her.” I said to him and the assembly bell rang.

Alma walked out of the empty room that she had being dancing in and was stunned to see us. She stood shock for a second and then walked away.

Jayden pressed his eyes on Alma as she walked away.

“Do you have a plan?” I asked him.

He raised his head up to me and said; “What did you think? Is she beautiful?”

“Beautiful? I think she’s just fair, how about you?” I asked him.

“Poor people are always ugly before me, I only wanted to know what other people think about her, let’s leave.” He said and we both began to walk down to the assembly hall.

Alma POV

I was shocked when I saw Jayden standing at the entrance of where I was, did he came there for something else or to see me?

Of course not, I’m nothing to him. He must have come around for something else.

After the assembly, Jennifer ran to me and shouted; “Hurray!”

“Excuse me? did you win a lottery?” I asked as I chuckled slightly.

“Did you know Jayden came to see you dance?” She asked with her two hands around her mouth.

“Are you joking?” I asked not wanting to believe my ears.

“I’m f-cking serious, very serious…” She said and I almost stand to my feet.

She sat at her seat that was right beside me and said; “I’m telling you, I was so stunned when one of his brothers came to ask of you from me.”

I was so elated from the inside even though I do not know what his sudden curiosity about me was for.

“Erm… why do you think he wanted to see me?” I asked.

“Well, I told you that if you helped them win, he would think about you and what favour you could offer their band.” She said.

“I can not wait for my skills to start earning me money.” I said and blushed.

When it was break, Jennifer turned to me and said; “Class today is so stressful.”

“Of course.” I replied, I was sad and pityful on the inside cause I have not eaten breakfast neither do I have any hope of eating till I arrive home.

“Let’s go and take something together.” She requested.

“I have some things to do, you can go.” I said with a smile.

I actually didn’t have anything to do, I just do not want to look and feel like a parasite to her.

“Why? ….fine! I’ll buy for you.” She said.

“No…I’m actually satisfied. Leave quick before the break will be over.” I said and she let out an heavy sigh.

Someone walked in at that moment and on peeking, I saw that it was Jayden’s manager.

He smiled broadly and said; “We love your skills and…we do have a contract to offer you.”

“Oh! .” I became anxious. “What type of contract?”

He placed a document containing many leaflets on my table and said; "Take your time and go through this, if you accept the terms of the contract"and sign

With the broad smile still on his face, he walked away.
