It's been more than 3000 years now that humans, werewolves, fairies, elves, and vampires have started to live in harmony. Though there are still some disputes between all the kinds, there are still some people who are completely against the idea of these races living together but everything's still going pretty well considering the hatred each kind bears for each other.
No one knows where these special species have come from, how did they come to Earth, or what is their origin.
There are no books written about it.
No scriptures include their information.
Humans have just accepted their existence. But it took them many years.
They say at first vampires and werewolves were killing humans to fill up their stomachs, and humans also started to kill the other races to experiment on them.
Later, when all kinds' existence was in danger they established a peace treaty and decided to coexist without killing each other.
-Year 20XX-
-Reina's pov-
This morning I woke up with big dreams in my eyes. Today I have an interview with the famous painter LUMIERE. Becoming a painter is my childhood dream.
My father is a crazy gambler. He can go to any depth to gamble. In childhood every time he would gamble and lose the bet he would come home and beat mom.
If I try to stop him he would beat me too. I don't have any problems if he beats me but I can't see him beating Mom, almost leaving her unalive.
Every time chaos like this happens I would run to the abandoned place of our city where not even animals go. It's not too far from my house.
They say that it belonged to a noble but one day he just left. After he left creepy noises started coming from there that's why people even stopped going near to that house.
But it's the perfect spot for me to go and cry my eyes out. There is no one to hear me or stop me.
One day after going to that abandoned place I saw a beautiful drawing of fish on the wall I tried to recreate it but failed. And just like that my addiction to painting started.
Though it started with no meaning behind it became the source and reason for my living. I would pour my all feelings into the painting when something bad happens.
As I grew older I started to sell the paintings. I would be lying if I say I got all positive responses from people, people were rude, harsh, and mean.
Some noble would throw my painting or tear them into pieces right in front of my eyes as they considered my paintings dirty.
Some took pity on me and bought my paintings. Not much earnings came from selling paintings but it was still enough to feed our stomachs two times a day, though we had to make a lot of sacrifices on other parts like clothes, jewels, and makeup.
But I'm still happy since today I have a meeting with Lumiere. Lumiere is a famous painter in our country and one of my friend's father is friends with Lumiere and she prepared this interview for me. If I crack this interview then all our sufferings would be gone.
I stretched my arms and got down from the bed to get ready for the interview. Just then Mom barged in my room with eyes full of tears.
"What happened Mom? Why are you crying?" I asked. She didn't respond. I have never seen her act like this before.
Her wrinkles which were becoming visible day by day became even more visible today.
"Mom, please stop crying and tell me what happened. Then I'll be able to help." I uttered while lifting her chin.
Tears ran down her cheeks, her lips struggled to open.
"I-" Mom opened her mouth and was about to say something when a stern voice interrupted.
"You are going to the NIGHT VILLA." Uttered Father while walking into the room. He is a gambling maniac. I can't count down how many things we have lost because of his gambling addiction.
Mom and Dad had a love marriage. Mom says he was a lot better before getting into gambling, he would treat her like the princess she is but he completely changed later on.
"He lost you in a bet." Mom finally spoke. But the sentence that came out of Mother's mouth didn't make me happy.
I looked at my father in shock. He... He bet ME on a gamble?
Is he crazy? I'm not a thing to bet on.
"Don't look at me like that. The money prize was way too big for me to refuse." Father explained himself as if he didn't do anything wrong. As if we are the ones misunderstanding him.
-Plop-
My legs trembled and I collapsed on the floor. Mother continued crying without saying anything. Father left the room.
I couraged up my legs and walked into the bathroom. As I shut the door behind me I collapsed on the floor again with a thud.
"KNIGHT VILLA-" I uttered. Tears dripped down from my eyes as if they had been waiting for this moment.
They say the owner of the KNIGHT VILLA is a crazy maniac, a womanizer. He has lived for thousands of years. They say he changes women like clothes and all these years he has married more than 50 women.
My father sold me, that too to a vampire? What if he kills me and eats me? My whole body trembled as cold sweat covered my body.
I didn't know what to do. I saw my life crumbling before my eyes. Mother's cry was echoing to my ears through the walls.
Her cry made me want to cry even more. I started the shower and sat under it while I cry. I didn't want Mom to hear my crying which would break her even more.
"No, I can't just sit like this and do nothing." I got up stopped the shower and went out after changing clothes. I have to give this interview, it's a once-in-a-lifetime chance I can't miss it.
If I get the job not only I'll find a new hope of light for us but also save myself from getting married to a maniac.
When I went out the room was empty probably mom went to do work.
Father walked into the room while I was combing my hair. I was getting ready to go to the interview.
