The Engagement Party
ELLE
"OH. MY. GOSH! THIS DRESS LOOKS SO STUNNING!!!" I squealed, jumping up and down in front of the mirror excitedly.
Tonight is going to be memorable. I can feel it. My intuition says it. My intuition is always right, and I couldn't help but get more curious about how the night would turn out.
Olivia chuckled as she fanned herself dramatically. "You look so beautiful, Elle! You look like a real queen!"
"I know. I know," I twirled around, grinning so hard as I stared at my reflection in the mirror.
It was as if a different woman was standing right in front of me, a woman of grace, pride, and dignity. It was everything I never thought I could ever be.
"Gosh, you look like royalty right now! This is it! This is who you are meant to be. Ugh! I don't know why Alpha Asim is delaying the wedding. I can't wait to call my best friend Luna," Olivia grinned as she spoke, and I chuckled.
"Me too, Liv! I just know that Alpha Asim is going to announce our engagement tonight! I mean, why else would he send me this dress? Gosh! He is going to propose to me at the ceremony in front of the whole pack! Can you believe it? Me, the future Luna?!"
Olivia grinned, but I didn't miss the tears that were starting to well in her eyes.
"You deserve it all, Elle. You deserve all the beautiful things in life, and you are going to make an amazing Luna."
"Gosh! Liv, you don't know how excited I am. Just a year ago, I didn't have a mate, and now, I am about to be engaged to Alpha Asim! The man of every girl's dream." I closed my eyes, unable to contain my joy.
I still remember how stunned I was when Alpha Asim revealed that I was his mate. It sounded so crazy, but everything has changed ever since. He has been nothing but kind to me. He has been surprisingly patient and calm despite all the ugly things people have to say about him, and tonight, I have a feeling he was going to make this official.
Olivia held my hands, making me look into her eyes. "You have been glowing ever since you met him, Elle. You both are so in love. It was only a matter of time, and I think the time is finally here!!!" Olivia grinned, pulling me into a hug.
"I know, right? I expect nothing but magic tonight. A grand announcement, a romantic dance, and maybe even a surprise or two…" I grinned as I imagined the whole thing in my head.
"Oh, shut up," Olivia rolled her eyes playfully. "You are such a romantic, but guess what? I love it!" She kissed my cheeks, and I chuckled at her reaction.
"Okay… we are running late. The ceremony will be starting soon, and I don't want to miss the best part. We better start going," I muttered as I reapplied lip gloss to my already glossy lips.
"One second," Olivia said as she rushed over to bring her dress. We were so excited talking about tonight that I forgot that she hadn't dressed up.
Olivia came back with a designer bag and brought out a flawless dress.
"OMG! One would think you are the one that is about to become the Luna," I joked and she grinned.
"I have a feeling I will be meeting my future husband at the ceremony, so don't blame me," she chuckled, and I grinned.
Olivia's dress was amazing. As beautiful as my dress was, I'd say Olivia's dress was twice as beautiful, and I bet it cost a future. She comes from a wealthy family, so I knew her father probably got it for her, and I couldn't help but feel thankful to Alpha Asim for buying me this beautiful dress; otherwise, I'd have felt underdressed.
"Liv, we are running late!" I groaned when she brought out her makeup kit.
"I will make it quick, huh?" She gave me a puppy face, and I chuckled.
"Fine! You have ten minutes to finish up, or I am leaving without you," I faked a pout, and she grinned.
"Yes, ma'am," she saluted, and I smiled.
Olivia spent the next thirty minutes doing her makeup.
"Remind me not to go out with you again," I faked a pout when she was finally done.
"Come on, tell your best friend that she is beautiful," Olivia grinned as she stared at her reflection in the mirror.
"I'm sorry, ma'am, have I met you before?" I joked, and we both laughed.
Olivia's driver was already outside to take us to the event so I knew we would make it just in time. The ceremony had started when Olivia and I stepped into the grand hall.
Heads turned around to admire us and I couldn't hide my excitement. This is it! This is the day I have been dreaming of.
I went to take my seat beside Asim and he doesn't seem to be his usual self. "You look stunning," he said flatly. I knew he was probably angry that I got in late.
"Thank you. I'm sorry for coming late, Olivia was doing her makeup," I said, and just then, Olivia took the empty seat next to Asim.
She was representing her brother who was Alpha Asim's Beta. Although I didn't think she would sit there, it doesn't matter as long as we all have fun tonight. The closer she is, the better.
"I believe everyone is here now," the host said, gaining our attention. "Alright then, ladies and gentlemen, let the fun begin!"
A group of dancers came in to keep us entertained but all I could think about was what Asim was planning. I knew him like the back of my palm. He was probably thinking about the right moment to make the announcement and my heart skipped a beat from the anticipation.
I couldn't concentrate one beat on the activities. All I could think about was the announcement. Would he want us to get married immediately? Will he wait for a while? There is no point in waiting since I have no family anyway, I guess he would announce the date of our wedding today then.
I closed my eyes as I thought about how beautiful I'd look on that day. I wished my parents would be there to watch it, but I was certain they would be proud of me wherever they were too.
"Ladies and gentlemen, as we all know, this ceremony wouldn't end if the Alpha did not give a speech, so this is the moment we all have been waiting for," the host said, and my heart skipped a beat.
Asim took the mic from the host as he relaxed in his seat.
"Hi everyone," he said with his commanding aura, and the room fell silent. "Thank you all for making Alpha's role easy for me. You have assisted me by always abiding by the rules and obeying orders for the betterment of our pack. I want to say thank you," he said, and the crowd nodded in acknowledgement.
"I think it is about time that I finally give in to the pack's request and give the pack a mother that would care and support everyone the way you have always wanted," Asim said, and my heart was starting to race in an unhealthy manner.
At this point, I'd have a heart attack before he even announced our engagement.
"I'm sure, you all are already guessing what this is about. Yes, you are right. It is about time for me to get married and have a Luna," he announced, and I inhaled sharply.
I closed my eyes, waiting for him to call out my name as he continued.
"Today, in the presence of the whole pack, I announce Olivia Smith as my fiancee, and we will be getting married in two weeks." He announced.
