Chapter 18: Thinking of the future

Matt helped Lilly out of the car and took her upstairs where Abby was relaxing on the couch with a very large glass of red wine, completely unaware of the traumatic events that her friend had just suffered.

" Where the hell have you two been, I have been waiting for ages to order dinner !"  Abbey pouted sitting up from the couch but as she turned to look at her friends she screamed in shock.

"  Oh my god, Lilly what happened?!"  Abby asked in shock as she dropped the glass of wine, which fell and smashed on the floor before she ran over to Lilly and wrapped her in a tight embrace.

Lilly hissed in pain and Abby automatically let go " Oh I am so stupid sorry, I got caught up in the moment. Come on let's get you cleaned up and get you a drink... I know your  underage but by the look of it  whatever the hell you've been through you could do with one and when you're ready you can tell me what happened... okay?"  Abby asked soothingly as she led Lilly over to the couch and poured her a glass of Red wine.

Abby and Matthew had cleaned and dressed Lilly's wounds and were cuddling her on the couch waiting patiently for her to be ready to talk, and eventually, she was. " Thank you for taking care of me," Lilly whispered pushing out of Matt's warm and safe embrace to sit up and look at both of her best friends.

" We are family Lilly it's what a family does and we will always be here for you," Abby said and Lilly burst into tears.

" Oh Lil, don't cry, please it'll be okay it's over now," Matt said as he rubbed her back and Abby took her hand.

" Lilly if you want to talk we are here for you," Abby said and Lilly sighed.

" Abby thank you I want to tell you but you have to promise not to do anything in retaliation...please," Lilly said knowing her friend's natural reaction would be to try and seek justice for her and Lilly couldn't risk Mr. Sinclair doing something to hurt Abby.

" I will just listen Lilly and I promise I won't do anything without getting your permission first... I just want to help." Abby said worried for her friend. Lilly smiled at Abby noticing her concern and then turned to Matt and when he nodded his encouragement Lilly told Abby everything.

" THAT BASTARD! SOMEONE SHOULD CUT OFF HIS d**k AND FEED IT TO HIM!" Abby screamed as her eyes glowed with anger that he dared to hurt her friend. 

" Abby..." Matt warned nodding to Lilly who had her head hung and tears rolled down her face and soaked the top of her dress.

" Lilly I am sorry ... I will keep my promise don't worry for the sake of your brother and I understand why you have to leave but I won't let you do it on your own" Abby said as she took a deep breath and put her anger to the side so she could concentrate on looking after her friend.

" Me either Lil, we both will come with you," Matt said.

Lilly looked at her two best friends and smiled. " You two mean the world to me and I love you both before I met you my life...it was really empty and when I met you you gave me the one thing I wanted more than anything ... a family and we will always be family. But I can't take you with me, Mr. Sinclair is angry and he may send people after me when I leave London and i can't tell my brother the real reason for leaving as if I do he may in an alcohol-fuelled state decide to confront Mr. Sinclair ... not as a big brother defending his sister but because he will see him as a threat and thinks he can take him. So because I can't tell him why I am leaving my brother will be angry with me too and he might come after me as well, and he may bring his Mafia friends so either way I potentially have two very dangerous people after me and I can't risk your safety." Lilly wept hoping they would understand.

" Lil.." Matt tried to convenience her to change her mind but she interrupted. " Matt please don't argue and make this harder for me, I won't risk your safety so I am not taking either of you. Please both of you promise me you'll respect my wishes I can't go on the run and think clearly if I am worried about you both doing something stupid like following me." Lilly pleaded.

Matt and Abby both thought over her words and realized at the minute if they went with her they would only be a hindrance to her so they both sadly nodded and vowed they would say in London until Lilly contacted them and said it was safe for them to visit, then they will work up to encouraging her to let them stay with her permanently.

" Thank you both I love you guys."  Lilly cried as she grabbed them both in a tight hug.

The three of them spent the evening together cuddling up on the couch and spending one last night together before Matt and Abby drove her to the train station and left her in the station to decided where she would go next as Lilly ordered them to do thinking it would be safer that way. 

Once Lilly waved her best friends goodbye she stood clutching the small suitcase, burner phone, and envelope her friends had given her and looked at the departure board to decide which train she should get on.

It had been a year since Lilly left and she had made a new life for her self in a small quiet village about four hours outside of London. She had gotten a new job as a career in an old person home, she had found a flat that was affordable and she even managed to speak to Matt and Abby weekly since her arrival. So far neither Mr. Sinclair nor her brother had tried to track her down so despite missing her friends she was content with her peaceful life.

The year had brought changes for Abby and Matt also, They had kept their promise and not retaliated for Mr. Sinclair's actions but they did, however, tell the staff at the restaurant what he did and every single one of them quit without notice leaving Sinclair's forced to close for near a month to find replacement staff- on the grande scheme of things it was a simple gesture but one that meant the world to Lilly when Abby told her about it. Abby and Matt had moved in together and both along with the majority of the Sinclair staff had found new job's at Howie's steakhouse which was run by an elderly couple who were great to work for, Abby had started dating a doctor and the relationship was exclusive and getting serious much to Lilly's surprise and Matt had come out as gay and had the love and support of his family and friends at Sinclair's

They both missed Lilly however and begged to visit soon and Lilly had agreed to see them in a few month's time when she got her holiday time much to their delight. Life wasn't good for everyone in Lilly's old life, however as her brother Jason had gotten into real trouble.

Jason had fallen deeper into the barrel and he had done something really stupid in his numerous drunk states... he had decided to skim money from the top of his drug sales in the arrogant assumption he would never get caught.

However unbeknown to Jason his boss the King of the London underground, feared Mafia boss Stefan Marconi was about to find out about his thievery, and when he did Jason would be forced to run to the only person who can save him- his sister, but would Lilly be able to put the past behind her and be willing to pay the steep price the ruthless Mafia King demands, in order to save her brother?
