I followed Asher into the night, heart still burning. His strong hands guided me through the crowd until we stopped in front of the elevator.
"Wait here. I’ll be back in five."
He was already moving fast, phone in hand, his stride clipped and purposeful.
I assumed he was calling Jake, maybe arranging for my coat and clutch. But a few minutes later, a man with red-rimmed glasses and a skinny tie appeared out of nowhere, breathless, handing Asher a card like it was a secret.
Asher took it without a word, placed it inside his tux, and returned to my side.
