Chapter 1

Fleg

I was sitting in my room with just a candle lit near the window, in deep thought playing with my silver knife when someone knocked on my door.

‘’Who is it?’’ I growled. Before the intruder could say his name I knew who it was. Jake pushed the door slightly open and peeked inside to see what I was up to.

‘’Are you going out again tonight to hunt master?’’ Jake knew me well and we knew each other since a long time. He was the only one I trusted among all of us. Jake was waiting for an answer but he knew that I won’t reply. My eyes followed his movement as he nodded his head in understanding, pushed open the door and walked out.

I stood up and walked near the candle. The reflection of the blazing fire swam into my golden empty eyes as I looked up into the window glass. My eyes were brutal and they never failed to bring my enemies to their knees in utter fear.

You’ve got deadly eyes. They are like dark pits of darkness. An ocean of secrets one may get lost into if looked deeply. My master always used to say.

There was a pleasure in being the most feared and the most powerful assassin.  A sinister smile spread on my lips at that thought and I hummed a song under my breath.

I blew the candle and the room became surrounded by darkness. It was time to go now.

The air was humid and my black cloak stuck to every inch of my body like second skin. There was something in the air that made me feel queasy but I could not detect what was going on. I could hear my blood running in my veins and my heart beat a little faster than usual.
