The present Dr. James and Dr. Stanton arrived at Keenan’s office to discuss the animals that had been brought into Cherry Creek over the weekend. When they finished, Keenan gave out assignments for their care. As the trio of vets rose to leave the office, Dr. Stanton saw the wedding invitation Keenan had received, laying on his desk separate from the rest of the morning mail. “I see you got Julie’s invitation,” she said, picking it up. Keenan nodded without comment. Noticing Keenan’s lack of enthusiasm, she asked, “You are planning on going, aren’t you?” “Can’t be avoided,” Dr. James declared.
