I walk out of the ice cream place lost in my thoughts once again. The lady behind the counter was a lesbian that. "Leigh, you okay?" Hazel says as I shake my head as a way to get out of my thoughts. "Yeah, I'm okay." I say walking to her. "What did she say?" Hazel asks with a concerned face. "She just told me that she was lesbian also and that there was more than one cup left." I say which makes Hazel look at the ice cream shop and then back at me with a smile. "Well it's one more way to get closer to you." She says with a smile and a little blush which makes me blush and smile. "It's seven forty five, ready!" She says and I nod. Is this her idea that she said she had? It's cooled so much outside that the ice cream hasn't melted yet.
We get into Hazel's car and she hands me the sundae to hold as she drives. It only takes ten minutes to get to where Hazel was thinking about. She pulls down a dirt path and we pass a sign that says 'Welcome to the Sunset and Sunrise Cliff, Enjoy!' I love the sunset. I have a smile on, I realize this is the most I've smiled in a while and it's all thanks to Hazel. She's an amazing person, I've only known her for about two days but it feels like I've known her my whole life. As I look out the front window I can see where we have to turn. She parks and we get out. Hazel goes into the back seat and grabs something. Most people would be scared but I trust her. As she comes to the passenger side of the car I realize what she grabbed. It was a blanket.
"You always have a blanket in your back seats?" I say teasingly, which is unusual for me. "You never know when it will come in handy." Hazel says in a tone that says naughty and reasonable. Which gets me hot all over. Thank goodness that it's dark, otherwise my cheeks could be seen as a very deep shade of red. "Anyways..." She says as she starts walking towards a place to sit down. I help her place the blanket by the edge of the cliff. I take off of my shoes and sit down on the blanket, and so does Hazel. I hand her the sundae as she puts the straws in. As she takes a drink I watch and that makes me think naughty thoughts so much so that I have to look away. Hazel taps my arm so I look over at her. She offers me a drink. I take the sundae and say. "Thank you." I say and she nods. I have my lips on the straw and take a little sip when I hear her say. "That's actually the straw I just used." "Whoops sorry!" "Don't worry about it, I'll take the other straw." She says with a smile that makes me smile. "Here." I say going to hand the sundae to her. "Oh, no thanks." She says so I just put the sundae on the grass where it wont fall over easily.
I decide to lay down on my back to stare at the stars since the sunset hasn't started yet. The stars shine brightly tonight or the same. I wouldn't know, I barely get to stare at the stars now days. I feel free, no parents around, no curfew, with a wonderful person, outside, and fresh air. I decide to sit back up, I don't want to start thinking again. I move the sundae onto the blanket in between Hazel and I because it was starting to get windy. Sitting here with Hazel with no one around is wonderful. Maybe the lady at the ice cream shop was right, maybe I was jealous. I go to take a drink of the sundae and it looks like Hazel had the same idea. We almost hit heads so I go to back off and it looks like Hazel had the same idea again. This time we slowly go for a drink and this time neither one of us backs off. We just take a drink and stare at each other which makes me smile as I take a drink. Once we're done with our drink we burst in to a laugh. "Oh look!" Hazel says pointing off the cliff into the distance.
The sun is setting and it looks so beautiful! The sun puts everything in a yellow orange color. I look over at Hazel who just looked away from me. She's so beautiful, the golden hour just is an added highlight. She looks back over at me and is about to say something before we hear. HONK!! HONK!! As some people honk there horns at each other for some stupid reason as they park in the parking spaces before getting out of there car and sitting down away from us which makes me relax a bit after jumping. "What were you going to say?" I ask. "Nothing, nothing important." She says which I feel she is lying but I don't say anything. I move forward a bit and Hazel asks. "What are you doing?!" She says sounding worried. "Just going to hang my feet off the cliff." I say looking back at Hazel. "Oh, do you mind if I come sit next to you?" She asks. "No not at all." I say which is very much the truth. She smiles and walks over to where I am. "Hey do you know if they are single?" A guy that came from one of the cars says a little loudly as he points at Hazel and I. I look over at Hazel with a look that says, oh no. "Just pretend you didn't hear anything." Hazel says which sounds like a good idea.
A few minutes later nothing happens so I relax. I put my hand down and it lands on Hazel's. Instead of moving my hand I interlock my fingers with hers. We look at each other, she has a smile and so do I. We sit here and watch the sun go farther down for about ten minutes before Hazel and I hear some gravel being kicked around. We look to the side of us and we see a guy walking towards us. I'm about to get up but hazel holds me down with a worried expression. "Hey ladies, you single?" He asks. "Sorry sir, but we aren't single." Says Hazel. He looks at me and I nod going along with Hazel. "Where are they, then?" He asks. "Where are who sir?" Hazel asks with a fake confused expression. "Your boyfriends, where are they then?" "Sir we don't have boyfriends." "Then how are you taken?" "We're lesbians." "Oh." He says looking disgusted and with a disgusted tone of voice. Then he turns around and walks back to his buddies. We look at each other and I don't know whether to laugh or not. We just laugh anyways. "Oh well." I say to the guys reaction. "Yep, well you ready to go home?" She asks not enthused about it at all.
