Tallium Remembers Story

Still outraged by Krashiri's point of view, Tallium started his version:

_We left there with a quarter of our fleet, morally devastated because they didn't even give us the chance to land on their soil. Because of that, we were forced to attack part of the planet only from the ships, because firing towers hit us all the time as soon as we threatened to descend into its nefarious world. Long-range weapons failed for no apparent reason and the worst is that we can't even have hand-to-hand combat since there was no way to do that without sacrificing the engines that threatened to stop at any moment as well. And we had to flee from there. We returned to space and stayed in orbits for a good tempus, but in the end I ordered a surprise attack, we needed to take revenge for our defeat anyway. We sneaked down after an attack focused on his large-caliber defense weapons. And devoid of any long-range weapon, we moved forward to take and tame that planet. They were in such numbers that we could never have imagined and yet we managed to win after unleashing our ferocity, showing our true fighting strength. But the price was very high, many of our huge ships worn out by the double attack and the long voyage hardly brought us back to Kriishi Meriam. And both the emperor and me, we considered that the battle on this planet was in a way the first and only defeat that we have had in the history of our Kriishen race, even though we almost wiped out all inhabitants in the second onslaught.

Krashiri seemed increasingly excited by the narrative, and even though he was repressed by Tallium he did not want to stop talking:

Krashiri continued to show great interest in Tallium's past.

_And what happened on this planet, Your Highness?

_Well, this is something that only my brother knows.

Curiously, I found a small room that was not part of the rest, imitating four cylinders that stood out, for being shiny and transparent. And inside each of these cylinders there was a kind of ring, apparently made of the same material as the cylinder. When I asked what it was, and what it was for, my brothers were embarrassed to explain it to me and told me that it was supposed to be a surprise for me and the emperor.

_And what happened after that royalty?

_I realized that shortly after each of them each had a ring with different insignia symbolizing the ramifications of the imperial family, the same rings that I had seen and commented on before. I don't know if it was out of jealousy or instinct, but the first time I found myself alone, I ran to where the device was, forced the fragile lid back on, opened the only cylinder that was left intact and took the remaining ring.

_And what did that ring do your greatness?

_I'm not sure, but it seemed to stimulate my brain, making me feel very intelligent, because as soon as I put it on one of my fingers, I felt a little shock running through my body and suddenly I knew everything about the teleporter, its components, its flaws and how I could improve it to work perfectly. I went to where my brothers were and told them that the device was now going to work properly and that their wishes would be fulfilled. They didn't seem to like what I thought would be good news.
