"Can we talk?" I asked Cloud. "Can you please stay until this is all over."
"Why?" Cloud said.
"I just want you around," I pleaded with him. Cloud look disheartened.
"Fine, but the minute you choose one of them, I will go back to Caligo," Cloud said.
"Perfect," I smiled. I wanted to give him a hug but he looked like he wouldn't like that.
Preparations for the trinity spirit festival were underway and we had the hours left until the first event. Spirit holders from around the galaxy would be visiting Calisto to leave offerings and wished for the spirits. The next day, It was my duty to visit each shrine around the galaxy that was made in honor of each trinity spirits and then we would return to Calisto and proceed with the dance of the spirits. I was looking forward to some fun events but I also knew I would be thinking about my mother the entire time. As soon as it was time to go to the trinity spirit church I found Cloud, Venus, and Samantha and headed there. I was wearing a beautiful crimson corset feather ball gown.
"I have come to love these festivals," Samantha said. Venus and I both smiled at her. I knew all about Samantha's tragic past. I was happy she has found a life here with us and with Venus. I was allowed to make an offering. I was king so I was presumed to good for that but I did anyway. I wanted to honor my mother and the spirits. Cloud was unusually nervous and quiet. I spotted Paul walking with Edmund, Aero, and V. I was actually hoping to get a break from them and my looming decision.
"Alexandria," Paul called. I quickly turned around pretending I didn't see or hear him.
"Sire," V called. That husky deep voice made me swoon but I still didn't turn around, for now, I was ashamed to show my emotions to the men. Venus nudged me as they were now very close to me that I had no other choice but to turn around.
"Hello, I am so glad to see you all," I said breathlessly. They all smiled at me and I wanted to melt. "Why did they all have to be so handsome?" I thought to myself.
"Cloud and I should leave you all to enjoy the festivities," Paul said.
"I'm not leaving," Cloud said coldly. I smiled but then played it off so they would not notice my delight. I held on to Cloud's arm and we walked amongst the crowds of people that came to give their offering. I could feel their stares burning holes on the back of my head. I wanted to acknowledge them but I was also nervous and unsure of what to say.
Suddenly, I heard screaming coming from the middle of the crowd. I ran towards it and I could feel Cloud following close behind. There were too many people and I noticed Cloud wasn't behind me anymore. I reached the center of the crowd and noticed these strange hideous creatures. There sharp teeth ready to attack. One ran towards me and knocked me down. He held me down with all of its arms. I tried to break free but I couldn't it was too strong. I noticed another two heading for some children. I was growing angry and I felt so helpless. As they neared the children I got so upset I felt my body begin to heat up with rage. I looked at my hands and they were consumed with fire. My entire body was covered in fire. As I felt my rage burn inside and outside me, I fought off the creature on top of me. Turning it to ash. Then I threw flames at the rest of the creatures in the area. I didn't notice how high and big the flames had gotten but I heard several more people screamed. I looked around but there were no creatures around anymore. That's when I realized they were screaming because of me. I probably looked frightening to them but I knew I wouldn't hurt them. I was trying to save them. Cloud ran towards me and shouted at me. It took me a minute to make out what he was saying.
"Alexandria, focus put away your phoenix spirit," Cloud shouted. I tried to concentrate but I did feel this heat inside me build up more and more. I backed away slowly and accidentally touched some of the offerings left out for the spirits and they went up in flames. The screams only got louder. V came towards me and looked me dead in the eyes.
"Alexandria," he said softly. "It's okay, bring it down." V was rubbing my arms and calming me down. The fire went away and I could feel my phoenix spirit going dormant again.
"Thank you," I said to V. Cloud grabbed my hand and walked me back to the palace. I noticed the people scared and looking at me as if I had just done something unforgivable.
"What happened?" Paul asked. "Everyone is going crazy."
"There were these six-armed creatures, hideous looking things," I explained.
"Crawlers, they have not appeared in our galaxy since your father wiped them out," Paul said.
"Okay, well they came back," I snapped. I felt as if Paul didn't believe me.
"Well this is no good, Our people need someone they can trust and that will protect them not kill them," Paul said.
"I wasn't going to," Paul cut me off.
"You used your phoenix spirit with no warning," Paul said. "You have no control over it and the sooner you choose a husband the sooner you can give your phoenix spirit to someone who can handle it." I felt my anger boiling inside me. V noticed and came to hold my hand. I felt myself calm down again.
"What's wrong with me," I said softly.
"Nothing," V answered. "Come with me?" Cloud was looking at me with concern. I didn't have enough time to answer because V was dragging me by my arm before I could open my mouth to say no.
