Truth Revealed

I had another nightmare. The crawlers swarmed planet after planet. There sharp teeth tearing into the flesh of my people. Their arms ripping apart men who tried to fight against them. Women and children screaming, suddenly darkness appears and I wake up.  Cloud was still beside me. In reality, all of this felt like a dream. The man I have always cared for embracing me after having made love to me. He kissed me and we became one. My home, my people died and my planet was left with nothing but piles of ashes. People I was considering to be my friends and allies were potentially against me and plotting all of this destruction from the beginning. I immediately went to the cells were my guards kept Edmund, Aero, and V. I walked in with confidence but seeing their faces made my heart flutter. Edmund looked hurt and hardly made eye contact. Aero looked confused and unsure of what was happening. While V looked angry and upset. His eyes never left mine. His stare was intense and made me feel uneasy. I knew I was not ready to face him. I requested my guards to release Edmund first. I took him to a separate room to interrogate him. "Edmund," I spoke. "Sire," his tone was harsh but still not unkind. This was the first time he had addressed me properly. I guess my recent actions demanded it. "I am sorry for all this but it was necessary," I told him. "I can assume as much but a simple explanation beforehand would have also been kind." "Edmund, I have reason to believe that one of you three has betrayed me and my people." "Do you believe it to be me, Alexandria." "I believe that it is one of you three and the moment I find the traitor, it will not be pretty." "Until then, Sire." I was displeased by his attitude but I knew that all three men would act in such a way. "Bring me Aero," I demanded. Edmund was taken back to his cell and soon Aero was brought to me. "Alexandria, have we done something wrong," Aero said. "Not at this moment but one of you might have," "Do you believe it was me?" Aero asked. I was again brought to this question. Did I believe it was Aero or Edmund or was I hoping it was the devilish V? Would it be so simple to blame V than the other two men? "Have you any knowledge of these two other men that were sent to pursue me." "I do not know them personally but I have knowledge of them. Edmund is well known in Callisto, his family is very wealthy and it was tragic what happened to his wife and child." "Child?" "Yes, his wife and child died during the war," "War? Aero are you sure?" "Yes, my family has done many trade deals with his and it is well known when they died because that is the day he left his home and moved Alia." "Do you know anything else?" "In what sense," "He was spirit holder, wasn't he?" "I believe so but I personally have never seen him use it," "Thank you, Aero," "Do you not wish to know anything about me?" "You are a kind humorous man and I apologize for the misunderstanding," Aero smiled and I left as he was dragged back to his cell. "Send Paul to the throne room, NOW!" I demanded my guards. Paul entered the room and I immediately snapped on him. "Paul!" I shouted. "Did you know Edmund was a spirit holder?" "Sire, I did not," he said sounding frightened. "Apparently, he is or was but the point is he lied to me," "What does this mean?" Maze said as he entered the throne room. "I hate to believe it but he has secrets which could mean he was trying to lie to me and who knows what else he may be hiding." "So now what?" Maze asked. "I need to know why he lied and if he is the traitor we were looking for?" Maze and Paul left and I sat there thinking about my next step. "You should eat something," Cloud said as he came over to caress my cheek. "Yes, but I have no energy or will to move," "Shall I carry you,"  I smiled at him and let him carry me to the dining area. "I do not like seizing someone else's castle," "You did not do it without cause," "But he is the only one I have not explained it to," "You are the king, you need not explain it to anyone," "I am still me and I am not that kind of ruler. I want them to understand." "You want V to understand." I did not say anything but my silence spoke volumes. I knew V and I had made a connection and it was not easily broken thus far. I knew if the time came to pass judgment on him, I would do so without hesitation but because it has not happened, I sit here wondering what that moment will be like. "Let's eat," Cloud said. We ate and after Venus came to get me. She gave me a bath and helped me change into a new gown. It was purple and had two long slits on each side. It was not that late into the night and everyone was busy doing their own thing. I slipped away and went to V's cell. His eyes met mine the minute I entered the room. The dark red glowing eyes were the only thing I saw coming from that dark cell. As I got closer, I could see his figure and his bold frame. He still looked upset but he suddenly gave me one of those wicked smiles he loves to intimidate me with. "I was wondering when you would come to see me," "You knew I would come," he laughed at me and then nodded. "I knew a lot of things and I knew you would dress up. Being locked away and not being able to put my hands on you is torture enough. Don't you think?" "Stop talking," "With pleasure, Come in here and we shall speak no longer."
