Chapter Two

1203 Words
Xander "You're fired. Just hang yourself when you get home, the world has no use for you, just has the company." Those words came out just the exact way I wanted. Cold, cruel and icy. One of the things I hated was incompetence. It makes me so on edge and to have someone with such quality in my company?! The Human Resource team sure has a lot of answering to do. I pressed on the button and have the guards drag out the incompetent piece of s**t I've been rearing in my company for the past two months. How she lasted for so long, I do not know. "I'd come back for you!" She screamed. You wish. She wasn't the first to utter such statement. You won't be rich or privileged enough to touch as much as a strand of hair on my body. Reina, my secretary, knocked softly and walked in after I had asked her to. "The documents are ready sir" She placed them on my table and watched me go through it, her hands seemed a bit jittery. Yeah, be scared. I don't joke with mistakes. "Good, what's on my schedule for today?" I asked signing the documents she brought in. " By 12:00pm you have a brief meeting with the Representatives of HONG SOFT from China as regards the conclusion of the contract." "Okay, get me the Head of the HR Team." "Yes sir." She walked out. Few minutes after Mr Hudson shut the door behind him. Even his steps indicated how scared he was. He should be. "It'll never happen again sir." He said almost immediately going on his knees. "Serve at the Cleaners department for two months, I'd take back the salary I paid that wench from you. Hope it never repeats itself. Let Georgia, your assistant head the team while you're gone. You're dismissed." I didn't even look up from my phone. "Sir..." He tried speaking. "One more word and I'd fire you." He was out of my office in a jiffy. Better. * * * * I got down from my car heading into the hotel's conference room. The Representatives from China were already seated. They looked uncomfortable at the sight of me. Hmph. Today's supposed to be for signing, finalizing and celebrating, what's with this weird vibe radiating from them. They were three in number. Two guys and a woman, who served as an interpreter. "Can we proceed?" I asked after exchanging handshake and settling down. The woman interpreted what I had just said to them. "We're sorry to intervene with your private life but we'd need a marriage certificate before we can proceed" she said making me utterly confused. "And how is that in any relation with the contract we're about to sign?" They looked to her for translation. "We received an anonymous tip that you have a bad reputation with women which in turn affects your Company, we definitely wouldn't want that to affect this project. So if you want us to pick your company for this project, then we'll need you to prove that you have no bad reputation with women and a marriage certificate would just be perfect to prove it." She finished looking quite professional and no sign of being uncomfortable about the s**t she's spewing out. She bit in her lips nervously while staring intensely at me. What the f**k?! I'm in the middle of loosing a very big contract here , woman! "Give me a week, I'd provide it for you." I stated trying to hold myself from punching the wall. An anonymous tip? Alright. "I'd like to take my leave then, I have something important to attend to" she translated and we shaked hands briefly before I made my way out. The interpreter seemed to be following me from behind, I don't get it. They were so wrong, I don't mess with women. It's the other way around, women mess with me. I'm not some s*x god or anything but I don't say no to them either. I stopped on my track and turned to her. She stopped too. "Heyy" * * * * I threw a wad of cash on the still sleeping interpreter and walked out of the hotel room. My phone beeped. It was Reina. 'you missed the scheduled date with the minister's daughter. I went in your stead. She took it better than expected' I didn't plan on going anyway. 'okay, clear my schedule for today, I won't be coming back to work until tomorrow.' I typed back. 'okay sir'. "Doctor Henderson" I instructed Blake, my driver once I got into my car. We finally got to PEARLS HOSPITAL located in the heart of New York City. I called Max to inform him of my arrival. I made my way into the hospital and I hadn't even gone past the reception when I sight Max, boy is obsessed! We've been best friends since high school, then I had just developed this icy cold aura like wall against the world, he's used to it now though. "Heyy" He sounded excited to see me. I'm coming with my problems brother. "Let's get to your office, I have stuffs to say" I replied not bothering to answer his greeting. We made it to his office and I related what happened with the whole representatives and all. I removed the last bit about the interpreter. That's private, please. "Crazy, you'll probably hire someone to be your wife just for the the period of the contract and then divorce after. I think people do that, right?" "I should be asking you, Max" I shot back almost rolling my eyes. " Yeah that reminds me, The Chairman of Anderson Group died, his funeral is tomorrow. We should go right? Pay respect to the dead? Some stuff like that." My face hardened almost immediately. Anderson. That douchebag that ran Dad's company into the ground and divided my family. The world just shitted one more bad guy out. Good for it. Max seemed to realise what he had just spurted out and changed the subject as fast as he could. "Should we catch up later. I'd just come to your office, I'm off work tomorrow." He suggested. "Don't know if I'll be available. I might be curious enough to go for Anderson's burial and have a good laugh hearing the good things people have to say about him. And maybe mess with his daughter too." I uttered scowling. Max looked at me like he was going to puke. "Dude! She's not that easy. She comes here once in a while for check up, the atmosphere is always tense! Definitely not a patient I always look forward to seeing. She's tough man" Max stated giving"the stressful life of a doctor" vibe. "Just like your life... I'm off man" I was already on my seat when he threw a pen. Did I tell you how bad he his at throwing things, I didn't even need to dodge. "Bye man, I've got to do a ward round. The life of a doctor!" I almost chuckled out loud. Just how do I get a marriage certificate and a wife in the next one week?
