My head jerked to the blue-white globe that was my home. I saw short and slender men, but no women taken on the ships.
Examinations happened but nothing like what they were going to do with me. I saw Volardi Alphas argue.
They spoke in their musical tongue and, yet I understood. We humans weren’t pure some said. Mutated abominations although only minor. Yet that was enough to cast us aside. Better to use clones.
Yes, the deaths would be high but Volardi would survive. Others argued they wanted mates, not simply wombs. A feeling of dread went over me while Omegas being led into a towering building followed.
The images flicked off, and I looked up into the brightly lit medical examination room. Both Klar and Trevah stared solemnly at each other.
Klar spoke first, “No more? Perhaps the Femeni would like to know the rest?”
“He’s not Femeni yet and I don’t want to overwhelm him.”
“Of course,” said Klar with a wide smile.
“There is so much history. Now if you excuse me, I must make sure the Earthing is well. Trevah stared for several heartbeats while his eyes narrowed. “I’d rather stay.”
“Oh I think not. I hold the highest Medical rank on this ship. We are dealing with a new life form. Implantation of the translationmatrix is only the first step to viable Femenis.”
His voice lowered into a whisper. “Would you like to explain to High Command the necessity of interference with the re-population of our race?”
Either Trevah forgot or didn’t care but he spoke in Volardi. Instead of the ‘boom boom boom’ feel of English, it was musically tinged when he spoke. Just short of song speech.
“If anything happens to him, you won’t only answer to me. Melk’s involved.” Klar swallowed before handing Trevah as small blue orb, I recognized the medical alert module and blinked in wonder how I knew this.
It hovered around Trevah, then to me, and back to him. “Done. You two are linked. If the tiny Human is in danger, you’ll be notified.”
Trevah extended two fingers and pointed them at Klar. That meaning was lost on me, but I felt it was a threat. Trevah bent down and whispered into my ear. “We’ll see you soon.”
Klar waited till Trevah left then smiled wide. Faded purple eyes slitted while he fingered the overhead tools. “Finally. You and I… alone.”
