Micah
I felt something pressed up against me, a leg wedged between mine and warm breath tickled the skin of my bare chest. With my left hand I explored the length of the curvaceous body tucked against me, giving a firm squeeze to the most delectable ass I’ve ever touched. It fit perfectly in my hand. A damn dream ass.
On instinct, I held her tighter in my arms, holding her close to my chest. She stirred, my movement disturbing her sleep, causing her to accidentally wiggle against my d***k provocatively. Without any conscious thought, I rubbed against her again, enjoying the sensation. I didn’t miss the catch in her breathing or spike in her heart rate. If this was a dream, I didn’t want to wake up. It had been way too long.
“Happy to see me, big guy?”
I groaned, fully awake and realizing exactly what I was doing and who I was doing it to.
I begrudgingly let my eyes finally open, taking in Kassie next to me. She had an amused smirk on her face. Her long wavy hair spread across the pillow messily next to me, begging to be wrapped up in my hand as I—
Fu.ck!
I didn’t answer her teasing words. I was already at risk for her dumbass remarks without adding fuel to the fire.
“Because it would seem you’re quite happy to see me, big guy.”
Did she really just--you know what? I wasn’t even surprised any more. It only proved my point more. She was an asshole.
“What the hell are you doing in here?” I asked. I did my best to keep my voice even, and not let on how much I was enjoying having her close. “More specifically, why are you in my fuc.king bed?”
“Can’t I just visit?”
“No. What’s wrong?” Obviously something had to be or else she wouldn’t be here like this.
She looked up at me with the biggest, greenest puppy dog eyes, her eyes shining with moisture. I was instantly alert. She was sad, I could feel it. Worried and anxious, too.
“K…”
“Your hand is still on my ass,” she tried to divert.
Oh, s**t, it really was.
My hand instinctively twitched at the reminder, giving her delicious plump ass another squeeze before I finally came to my senses. I removed my hand quickly, already missing the feel of it, but pushed that aside. If I continued to focus on her tight, lithe body still so close to mine, I would end up earning another sly comment about my d***k from her.
“What happened?”
“I was just talking to Heath and…” she hesitated, debating on her words. I tensed. I didn’t like that vampire. Not one fuc.king bit. He watched me like a hawk, like I was going to slaughter them all or something. He was a smug, know-it-all d***k. But, more importantly, I was sure he had secrets he was hiding from us. All of this was too coincidental.
“He was telling me about my parents. Do you remember the scar on my fathers face?”
I stared down at her in disbelief. She was willingly talking about her parents? She put on a brave face, but it was still painful for her. She wouldn’t mutter a word about them except on the day we spent honoring their memory every year on the anniversary of their death. But then again…we hadn’t really gotten the chance to do that this time around.
“Yeah, of course.”
“Heath did that when they first met.”
I raised a brow. Interesting, but there’s no way that has anything to do with what’s bothering her.
“He thought my father was going to kill him. He supposedly commanded others to kill each other as if it was no big deal and they did.”
I already knew that her father was a badass. You don’t get to live as long as he had in our world without being willing to spill some blood when you needed to. And it still wasn’t what was bothering her.
She was in turmoil. She wanted to tell me whatever it was that was bothering her but couldn’t seem to figure out how to.
There was a knock at my door and she let out a huff, blowing a long strand of hair out of her face that fell right back. She knew she lost her chance.
I reached out, brushing the long piece of hair behind her ear.
“It’s okay. We’ll talk later.”
I sat up just as Crystal opened the door.
“If you two are hungry, come downstairs, I’m about to start making breakfast,” she said with a warm smile on her face but quickly left the room without an answer.
Kassie flashed a quick, confused look.
“She’s so fu.cking weird,” she groaned.
I couldn’t help but give her a smile. She never could get along with other females, always having something against them. Most people actually.
I got out of the bed, instantly reaching for the clothes I set aside the day prior. I started slipping them on when I felt Kassie’s burning gaze on me.
“What are you doing?“ she asked.
I had to bite my cheek to prevent myself from smiling. She couldn’t even hide the fact that she is checking me out. I feel her eyes practically roaming up and down my body.
“I’m getting dressed to go eat. Unless you prefer me like this?” I couldn’t help the flirtatious tone that my voice took. When I looked at her, I caught her looking me up and down, taking in the sight of me. Shirtless with jeans slipped on, but not yet fastened. She bit her lip, not even trying to hide her reaction to me. Yup, she fuc.king liked it. A lot. She was hot and bothered and could do nothing to mask it from me.
She started this game with me the moment she came into that room in that little sexy nightgown. It wasn’t her fault, per se, but she started it nonetheless. She brought the beast in me forward, and now I was greedy for more.
And let’s not even get into the fact that she was definitely turned on when I picked her up and threw her on her bed. It took a lot for me to not join her in the bed, and show her how crazy she was making me…
And now, I wouldn’t miss the perfect opportunity for payback…
“Careful, Kass, it’s almost as if you’re excited by that idea.”
Her eyes snapped up to mine, widened in surprise, knowing I could feel her desire. She didn’t anticipate me feeling it or calling her out on it. She should know better. She wasn’t the only one who could play these games.
Her wide emerald eyes quickly narrowed angrily just as she abruptly stood up and stormed off, muttering something unintelligible under her breath. As she passed I heard “fuc.king asshole” before she ripped open the door and slammed it behind her on her way out.
I didn’t know what happened to us, but things felt different since the last time we had seen each other weeks ago. Perhaps it was almost getting killed by that idiotic hunter or the distance apart, but either way, I was a hell of a lot more aware of her, just as she was to me.
She would deny it, undoubtedly. But not me. I couldn’t deny that I liked where things were heading…
And knowing Kassandra…it was going to be a wild ride.
