I went to my room and started to get some things together. I felt a little crazy leaving this place, my home, with a man I don't know. Hera says we can trust him, and I trust her so.. Anyways, I grabbed my extra shampoo, conditioner, toothbrush and hair brush and put it in my bag. I can't believe this guy is my mate. I know Heath must feel some kind of way right now. There were two knocks on my door, then my mother walked in. “Hey mom! What's up?” I asked, and immediately noticed she was in a bit of pain. “Are you okay?” Now I am starting to feel a little worried. “I am fine, please don't worry. I just think that your sister might be here sooner than expected.” She explained.

“ARE YOU IN LABOR?!” I shouted, very excitedly. “Oh no, not yet. And keep your voice down please, before your father barges in here and rushes me to the hospital.” My mother isn't kidding, she told me when she was in labor with me, he ran in ‘human’ form all the way there carrying her! He has to be some kind of super wolf. “I came here to talk about your mate.” Here we go, my mother is fishing for answers.. “Has he marked you?” My mouth hit the floor. Does my mother really think I would have let him mark me, or that I had slept with him, my first time seeing him for more than 5 minutes? “No mom, no mark, and no sex.”

You could see the look on her face, showing that she was very pleased to hear that. “Do you know about Katie?” Now I knew she knew him, but she must have known him well, to know personal information like that. “Yes mama, him and I did talk about Katie.” My mother smiled at me with a look of sorrow. Why is him telling me about Katie important to her? I mean I am happy that he told me, but either way, I don't think it would have mattered to me because he is my mate. “Are you going to accept being Luna to his pack?” There it is, the real reason why she came in here. “Mom listen, I said what I said at the party. I know that it might have really upset you and dad and for that I am sorry. But he was also in the crowd and heard what I said. I don't want any kind of title. And right now, I really just need to get out of here and out of my own head. I am not moving away, I am just going on a short vacation, that is all.” I said, trying to reassure her that I was in fact coming back home.

“Listen, I just want you to tell him to be completely open with you. His past isn't all butterflies and rainbows, alright?” Now I am intrigued, “Do you know what kind of this happened in his past?” She must know something, I mean she is grilling me like she has known him her whole life. “I know of some stuff, but none of it is my place to tell you, it's his. Just please be careful, alright?”

I promised her I would be safe and she hugged me. And I could immediately feel that her pain wasn't just from being pregnant. I think that she might actually be in active labor. As soon as she closed the door behind her, I linked my father and told him how my mother was acting. She wasn't able to get too far before my father found her. I could hear my mother yell for me. I know she told me not to worry, but she was in too much pain for me not to. I finished packing and linked my father again, telling him to keep me updated and he said that he would. I linked Daniel to see where he was. As much as I didn't want to see Uncle Kiel, I knew I would have to face him sooner or later. And honestly, I would rather it was sooner. I headed to the front doors and there Danile was standing with my Uncle. I approached Daniel, and when I was close enough he put his arm around my shoulder.

“You better treat her right Daniel, or I will be coming for you.” My uncle warned. But you could see on his face that it was less of a threat, and more of a warning amongst friends. Then he wrapped his arms around me and congratulated me on Daniel and me being mates. “I don't know if we are going to be able to leave to go to your pack like we planned.” I said, a little sad. “You are taking her back to your pack?” My uncle questioned him. “I offered for her to come for a few days.” Daniel answered. “What is going on Nev? Everything alright?” My uncle inquired. I told him what was going on with my mother. Kiel’s eyes grew in size. He was in complete shock. “Your mom is having the baby right now?” He seemed a little worried. “Not sure to be honest. I knew that she was in a lot of pain and I told my father and he took her to the hospital.” I clued them in.

I let them both know that I wanted to stay here until I heard from my father to make sure that my mother was alright. Daniel understood, and my uncle took off, to go see what was going on with my mother. He and she have been close their whole lives. Or so I have been told. It was almost like it was his mate having a baby. He has always been very protective over my mother. I think that secretly Aunt Desiree gets a little jealous about it. Daniel tells me that he is going to make some phone calls and he will meet me in the dining area at lunch. He kissed my forehead and then we went our separate ways. I went outside to get some fresh air. I love the warmer weather and summer is almost here. I started to walk around the Kingdom lands when I heard my name being called. I turned to look, and didn't see anyone at first.

I continued to walk when I heard my name being called again. This time when I turned to look, it was none other than Brahn. What the hell is he still doing here? He should have gone back to his home yesterday after the party.

“Hey Nev! Wait up!” He shouted, sounding very happy to see me. “Hey Brahn, thanks for coming to my party again.” I felt a little bad that I told him he could come to the party and then I just ran away. So that also means that the chances that he slept here last night are greater than 50%. “Where did you go running off to last night? I wanted you to open your present that I got you.” I completely forgot that there were gifts for me that I had never opened. My eyes lit up like a kid on Christmas morning. “I forgot about all the presents to be honest. But let's go and open it now! How does that sound?” He smiled and nodded, pulling me by the arm to where the gift that he got me was. “ What did you take your gift off the table?” I said jokingly. He nodded. “It is something special, and I wanted to make sure that I was the one who handed it to you.”

He was making me feel a little weird, but I brushed it off. I thought that we were going to be going back into the castle, or at least to where the party was being held last night. But I was wrong. He took me to the tree line and that was when I let go of his hand. There was no reason for me to want to go into the tree line. Not with him anyway. We don't know each other and he seems to get weirder every time I see him. He took off into the tree line calling out to me that his surprise was just a little further in the woods.

I am feeling a little off about this. But it's just a gift, right, and he seems harmless enough. Plus, I know that I could take him if it came to it. So I followed him. When we were about 10 feet in, he stopped. “Where are we going, Brahn?” I questioned now feeling concerned. This was like a scary movie. I should never have gone into the woods with him. Brahn didn't answer, he just turned around and smiled. “What are you smiling about, you are starting to creep me out.” I wanted to let him know the way I was feeling, because I would take off running at the drop of a dime. “Well, first I wanted to give you your gift.” He said, holding out his hand. In his hand was a box and in that box there was a ring.

“I hope you don't think I am going to marry you, I have a mate.” I probed. Nothing about this is feeling right. This is all feeling wrong. “No, this is not that kind of ring. This is just a graduation gift from my family to you. That's all.” I opened it up and was in awe. The ring was so beautiful. It was a round black onyx stone with dazzling diamonds in a two tone sterling silver and gun metal gray band setting. He took the ring out of the box and put it on my pointer finger. I stared down at it. It was one of the prettiest rings I have ever seen. When I looked back up at Brahn, he was no longer by himself. “Who is this?” I was very concerned for my own safety at that moment. “This is my boss Greg. Greg, this is my friend Nev.” I smiled at him and then he spoke. “ Hello Nev, you have gotten so big.” Now I was completely creeped out. Not only have I never met this man before, but now he is telling me that I have gotten big? What the hell, who is this guy? And how does he know me?

‘“Sorry, I don't mean to be rude. But how do I know you?” I asked, hoping for a comforting answer. “I'm sorry, where are my manners? I know your parents, we are old friends. I was just hunting back there, (he turned and pointed behind him deeper into the woods.) can you do me a favor?” I looked at him like he was a crazy person. “I would need to know what that favor was before I either agreed to it or not.” I informed him. I was not just going to agree to something. He could possibly ask me for anything. “That's fair, alright I just wanted you to tell your parents that I said hello. That's all. Not anything crazy, right?” I mean he was right. It wasn't anything crazy. “Yeah I can do that for you.” He thanked me and I decided I had had enough of being in the woods leaving Brahn and Greg there. Brahn never came out after I did and I didn't care. Everything about that seemed wrong, even the whole ring thing. I grabbed it and tried to pull it off my finger. I kept tugging on it and then I felt a sharp pain. One of the thorns on the ring stabbed me. Not enough to draw blood, but enough to hurt. I tugged at it again, and the same thing. Now I know there is more to this ring. I should never have accepted it. I can't tell Daniel that Brahn put it on my finger. If he asks, I will tell him that it was one of my gifts that I opened. I need to figure out how to get it off.
