Chapter 15

*Daniel*

“I have something I would like to suggest to you, Nev, if you'd like to hear it.” She expressed that she was interested in what I was saying, so I continued “I am going to be heading back to my pack in a few days, why don't you come with me for a few days and then we will come back?” I told her that it would get her off the kingdom lands for a bit and give her a break from reality. There was no hesitation in her answer. She wanted to go. She expressed that she needed to know exactly how long we would be gone, so she knew what she needed to pack. I told her 4, maybe 5 days. But I really wanted to surprise her. I want to take her to Bora Bora. She needs some time to relax, refresh, and reset her mind. So we will be in my pack for a day at max, and then we will be on our way to her surprise getaway. And if she needs anything while we are there, I will buy it for her.

“We are going to need to talk to my parents. And Uncle Kiel…” Her face dropped, worried about how they would feel. Hoping there is no issue, but I can tell that she is just more concerned about whether her parents will like me or not. She expresses that she doesn't want her Uncle to end up hating her. I reassured her by telling her, “I highly doubt he will hate you, my love. Don't worry, everything will be just fine, I promise.” We head into the castle and she goes right up the stairs. “My parents are in my mother's office. We will talk to them there.” I started to sweat a little bit. I felt like I did when Katie and I told her parents. Yet at the same time it felt so good, seeing her so happy to tell them about me. It felt amazing to not only give love out, but to be getting it back after so long of being alone.

We got to her mother's office where a huge guy was standing right outside the door. Nev ran up to him and gave him a hug. Ixion started to get a little jealous but I reminded him that there was nothing happening for him to feel that way. All of these people were like family to her. “Hey Stollus, is mom in there?” She asked him. “No little queen, she is not. She and your father are watching the younger wolves train on the field.” He informed her. She thanked him and then we headed back down and outside of the castle. When we get to the field where her parents are, it becomes clear that her mother is very very pregnant and ready to pop at any minute. I could feel the tension rise in Nev’s body as we got closer to her parents.

“Mom? Dad?” She calls out to them and they turn around and face us. Her father immediately locked eyes with me, putting Ixion on his toes ready for a fight.

*Nevada*

My mother had lifted her arm and placed it out as if she were holding my father back. “Who is that man Nevada?” My mother questioned, looking a little concerned. “That is what I am here to talk to you about. I know that you both ‘know’ who this is. Daniel, this is my mother Emry and my father Quil.” My mother turned and looked at him. “Daniel Adam?” He said that it was indeed him. My mother's mouth fell open. “We found out yesterday that we are mates.” My mother's head snapped, looking at me. For a few minutes she didn't say one word to me. I started to feel heat rise in my body. And I was not only getting upset, but pissed off. “Could either of you say something?” I inquired from both of my parents.

My father was the first one to speak. “Sorry about the protective stance. For one, it is not often another Alpha stairs on our land without us knowing.” I was taken back, because I did not let my father know anything about him staying with us. And neither did Kiel, for that matter. “I am sorry dad, the plan started with Uncle Kiel, who invited him here, and then last night was when we found out.”

“Oh Kiel asked him to stay, did he?” My mother said with some tension in her voice. “I am sorry if my staying here has caused either of you any problems.” Daniel added. “Oh, there is no trouble at all.” My father assured him. I let my parents know that Daiel has offered to take me back to his pack for a few days just to get away for a while. My mother at first was not happy that I was going to be out there, but understood the need to get away for a bit. But in the end, both of my parents were okay with me going with him. And my father even invited him to stay for a few more days when we get back here. He wanted to introduce him to the kingdom.

I know that this has to do with me and that damn crown. But they really need to get it through their heads that it is not mine any more but Donnas. So to remind them, I asked about her. “ Hey mom, how is Donna doing?” My mother gave me that look. It was a look that when I was given it I knew that I needed to stop whatever I was doing or saying, because she was not happy. So I shut up. I wasn't going to push her buttons. We chatted for a little bit more and now it was time to go and talk to my uncle. As we turned away from my parents, my father had one more thing to add. “Welcome to the family Daniel.”

Daniel smiled at my father and I started to blush. He was really part of our family. We started up the stairs to see if my uncle was in the castle. When we got to the top of the stairs, Daniel turned toward me and said that he thought it might be best if he told him himself. He has no idea how relieved I was to hear him say that. “Okay you go and talk to Uncle Kiel and I will go and get a bag ready. When did you want to leave?” I asked him. “I am here till the day after tomorrow,” he answered. I nodded and ran up the stairs. I can't wait to get out of here.

*Daniel*

I sent out my phone and sent Kiel a message asking where he was. He tells me that he is in the gym. I asked him how to get there. I needed to talk to him. He said that he was done anyway and would meet me by the doors. It only took a minute or so before Kiel came jogging up the corridor to me with a towel around his neck.

“What's up Daniel? Everything okay?” I told him that everything was great, and that I needed to talk to him about something that had happened. Kiel looked at me like I had more than one head and he took a step back. “What did you call me to come talk to you about, what is going on?” He looked a little confused. It must be because I wear my emotions on my face. I am worried, so I know that is what he is seeing in me. “Please know that it was never my intention, but I am your niece's mate. She is my second chance mate.” His hands dropped to the side as if I gave him the worst news in the world. He didn't say a word, the look on his face was one I had never seen before.

*Kiel*

My best friend from childhood just told me that he is Nev’s mate. What the actual f**k is going on here? Not many wolves get a second chance mate, and I find it a little strange that he has her as his second chance mate, and when I was younger, we found out that Em, her mother, was mine. Even though things worked out with Desiree, I just didn't think it happened this often. “What the f**k do you mean you are her mate dude?” I snarled. “Last night at the party when she shifted, Ixion connected with Hera. And as the Moon Goddess wanted, they were mates. We are really family now!” He said, trying to diffuse my anger in this situation. It was not working, it was only making whatever it was. I was feeling worse.

I needed to put aside the fact that he and I are friends, because now he is Nev’s mate. Regardless of how I feel about it, it is what it is. And I am going to have to accept it. “I am happy for you bro. But just do me a favor, don't kiss her or anything like that in front of me okay? I changed her diapers and am not ready for her to be this grown yet.” He agreed to no PDA and I was thankful. I gave him a handshake and went about my business.
