Chapter 14

*Daniel*

She was leaving with Elle when I was heading back. She is such a beautiful woman. She has no idea how much I workshop the ground that she walks on. Her dirty thoughts exploded in my mind like I was watching my own private movie of us. I had to shake the visual before my arousal was noticed by every shewolf in here. I link her and warn her again about her thoughts. She starts blushing. I must have embarrassed her slightly. But she needs to understand that these thoughts drive my wolf wild. And it has been quite some time since we have been intimate with someone. I wouldn't want him to lose control and take her right here in front of everyone. I don't think meeting her parents for the first time that way is the right thing to do.

She didn't say anything in response, but only put her head down, and continued to follow Elle out of the dining area. I sat next to Kiel and Desiree. Kiel and I talked for a bit, and then I got right into my food. All of a sudden, it felt as though someone was watching me. I quickly scanned the room when I saw this guy standing in the doorway to the dining area. We locked eyes for a moment and I turned to ask Kiel if he knew who he was, but when I turned to the area I saw him standing in, there was now no one there. I never minded my question to Kiel. I told him that I had some very exciting news that I planned on telling everyone about soon.

He tried like he always had to get info out of me, and as always failed. At this time, Elle was coming back to the table but without Nev. I almost blurted out wanting to know where she was. But I stopped myself. I didn't want to be the one to tell any of her family who I was to her. I wanted her to do it. And I am hoping that once we meet up, we can talk about it and agree when the right time will be. I am hoping that Kiel doesn't have an issue with it at all. Since we were kids, his opinion has always meant a lot to me. He is only older than me by a few months, and as kids we celebrated our birthdays together. My family used to call us the impossible twins.

When I was almost finished eating, I heard a distant scream. I knew instantly that it was Nev. I damn near choked on my food. As normal as possible, I finished chewing the bite in my mouth. And then very calmly excused myself from the table. Once I was not only out of the dining area but also out of the castle, I shifted and gave Ixion control. We took off in the direction of the scream. The only other time that I can remember when we ran this fast, was when Katie died. In an instant, all the feelings of there being something wrong came flooding my mind.

*FLASHBACK*

That morning the temperature had already hit 75 degrees outside before the sun even cleared the trees. It was going to be another hot day. Me, Katie and some of our friends decide to head to this secret watering hole that we found a few years back. It was one of our most favorite spots to swim at when it is this hot. The only way to get to it was to walk. That was the only s**t part. But it was more than worth it.

There were about 10 of us that went. We had all gotten really close since Katie and I found out we were mates. These were all of her friends, and because of her, they are also now my friends.

“Okay everyone, before we start the walk to our swimming spot, let's make sure we have everything. Radio? ‘Check!’ Towles? ‘Check’ Who is carrying the cooler with the food? And the one with the drinks? Thanks guys. Okay, did everyone grab a chair for themselves as well?”

That was Katie, she was the pack Luna, well soon to be, and she always wanted to make sure that everyone has what they need. That was one of the things that I truly did love about her. Her selflessness when it came to helping other people. We began the walk, it is not a very long walk, maybe 10-15 minutes at the most. The closer you get, the more you can smell the water. That smell meant that the heat relief was coming! Some of the guys in the group took off running. They always do this, they climb up to one of the rock hangings and jump into the water. It was going to be a great day.

We could hear the guys in the distance laughing and splashing around. We were just a minute or so way from seeing the water. Once we reached the water, we set up our chairs and stripped down to our bathing suits. A couple of Katies girlfriends took her to the hanging rock to jump in. This was something the 4 of them did every single time that we came here. It was like they did it to thank the water for letting us swim. When they got to the top of the rock, Kaite looked over at me, smiled and waved and then blew me a kiss. Like the dork I was, I caught the ‘air kiss’ and stuck it in my pocket for later. She loved when I did that, so I would do it every time she blew me a kiss, so I could see her smile.

The girls started to jump off the rock one by one. Leaving Katie the last one to jump. As Katie was about to jump off the rock and into the water when she heard a scary growl coming from the trees. It was so loud and mean that she froze in place and couldn't move. Panic started to sink in as we all frantically got out of the water, ready to fight. Katie was still standing on the rock. We all knew where the howl came from. The Primordias. The Primordial werewolves are the second werewolves to have been in existence, they are the most feared and most powerful of all the wolf creatures today. They have golden, yellow irises and the sclera are deep black. They are more human-like in their body appearance, but their teeth elongated as well as their canines. They were a rough looking werewolf breed.

The primordia that was on the rock with Katie, was Catherine. She was the most vicious of them all. She was always out for blood. Anytime she was spotted, everyone knew that there would be a death report sooner or later, that was caused by her. Everyone froze as she got closer to Katie. She was so frightened that she didn't move a muscle. Catherine grabbed Katie and took off with her in her grasps. The rest of the primordias stayed put, fighting anyone that tried to go after Catherine. I fought as hard as I could to get through the primordias and get to Katie. But it seemed like the harder I tried, the harder they kept me from saving her. Then it happened, the horrible scream. Once Katie's scream ripped through the air, the fighting stopped and they all ran back to Catherine. When I found Katie, she was already gone. Catherine ripped her throat out, leaving her no chance of survival. That day part of me died.

That was 10 years ago, a day that I would never forget.

Once Ixion and I got to this clearing, there Nev stood. Perfectly fine. I shifted back and walked right up to her. Not giving a f**k that I am completely naked. She's not even facing me and it seems that she doesn't know I am here yet. I can hear her soft sobs and I get behind her. “Why in hell were you screaming like that?” I snarled.

She spun around with a horrified look on her face and tears in her eyes. “What's wrong, beautiful? Why are you crying?” My whole demeanor changed the instant I saw how upset she was. “Daniel, this is just so much. I am so overwhelmed, I need to get away from all of this.” She cried, as she wrapped her arms around me. I embraced her and then she froze. “Why are you naked?”

Now it was my turn to feel a little embarrassed. I could feel my face starting to flush. “I heard you scream and the next second I was out of the castle and shifted, letting Ixion take off and run all the way here. I thought something happened to you.” I was honestly scared that something bad happened to her.

“How is it that you were the only one who could hear me?” she questioned me. And I knew it was time she knew about Katie. “Nev, we need to talk. What I have to say will explain why.” She gave me a very questioning look. “You are my second chance mate, My first mate Katie, died 10 years ago.” Tears started to well up in her eyes as I told her the whole story about Katie. And Katie's death being the reason I was able to hear her. Right then I knew that she was upset with me for not telling her this. I should have f*****g just told….

“Daniel, I am so sorry that Katie passed away. And I am honored that the Moon Goddess blessed you with a second chance mate.” I was not expecting to hear any of this out of her mouth. I kissed her on her forehead. She meant more to me every second than she will ever know. I suggested I shift back and let Ixion take up back. She agreed. Once I was shifted she climbed on Ixion’s back, and he took off running. She laid down against his back and even I could feel her body heat. She was running her fingers through Ixion’s fur. We absolutely loved it. I love being able to feel what Ixion feels. Nevada was not our everything. She will never again be out of our sights.

Once we got back to the castle she got off my back and Ixion went into the woods. I told her where my stuff was and she ran up stairs and grabbed me shorts and a shirt. I shifted and changed into the clothes she brought down. Her eyes locked on my body while I changed. Like I was a piece of meat. I could not only smell her arousal but also that she has never been touched. It makes her damn near irresistible to Ixion. I have to talk him down a bit. This is why I have been linking her about her thoughts. I tease her a bit and say “Like what you see?” All she did was nod and smile.
