Chapter 4

As I stretched and rubbed the sleep out of my eyes, I couldn't help but feel grateful for such a beautiful morning. The warm rays of the sun were a welcome change from the dreary weather we had been having lately. As I got out of bed, I couldn't help but think about having to talk to Heath about what happened last night. Perhaps I would take him on a long walk and talk to him. It doesn't matter how I tell him, I just need to tell him. As I walked towards Heath's room, my thoughts were all over the place. I wasn't sure how to approach this topic, whether to be straightforward or beat around the bush. However, as soon as I saw Heath, I knew that I had to tell him everything. He had been my boyfriend and best friend for years, and I could tell him anything. Taking a deep breath, I began to explain what had been happening to me. To my surprise, Heath listened attentively and didn't judge me. Instead, he shared a story about his grandmother who had similar experiences. He explained how she used to tell him the story about her wolf when he was just a child. Heath's understanding and support made me very grateful to have such a kind, open-minded love in my life. Even though his face said it all. He talked about this weekend with me again. Heath apologizes ahead of time if he keeps bringing it up. I told him that that is very understandable, and it is most likely that I will also be doing the same. As we finished talking, we decided to go to the kitchen for food. As we walked downstairs, the aroma of fresh coffee and pastries filled the air. The cooks were cooking their hearts out. The kitchen was bustling with activity, but we managed to find a quiet spot to sit and plan out our day. We decided to contact the group to see if they wanted to come with us. After breakfast, Rain and Colton came over and we made our way to the party supply store to pick up some decorations and party favors for the graduation party tomorrow evening. The store was packed with people, it was graduation season, so that was expected. We managed to find everything we needed in no time. Finishing up our errands, we made our way to the bakery to grab the graduation cake. This place was known for their amazing cakes, so we were all pretty excited to see what they had whipped up for us. As we walked out of the bakery, the sight and smell of the cake had us all drooling. Colton couldn't resist and said, "I don't think anyone would mind if I took a piece right now." But Nev quickly shut that down, "Uh, excuse me? That's the graduation cake! If you eat it now, there won't be enough for tomorrow night. And if you do take a piece, you'll be the one to explain to my mom why there's a missing slice. Good luck with that." Colton thought better of it and said, "Yeah, no thanks. I'll wait until tomorrow." Heath chimed in, "Smart move. You don't want to mess with a pregnant woman." With the cake secured, we decided to spend the rest of the day chilling at the castle. We gathered up the crew and some other friends and spent the afternoon lounging by the pool, sipping on some tasty drinks, and reminiscing about our high school days. It was the perfect way to spend a lazy day before the big graduation bash. The remaining seven of us at the pool discussed our plans for the evening. We unanimously agreed to go out dancing, but wanted to try a new location as we had exhausted all the usual spots. However, this meant I needed to consult with my parents. To my annoyance, my father suggested The Liquid Meadow, where both he and my mother had found their respective mates. He seemed to imply that I might have a similar fate if we went there. I ignored his comment and inquired about the dress code. Once that was settled, we confirmed that The Liquid Meadow was our destination for the evening. My mother told me that we were going to have to take Uncle Kiel and Aunt Elle with us if we were going. So I figured I would introduce some of my family that would be tagging along with us, and the ones that won't. Aunt Desiree and Uncle Kiel help my parents rule over the kingdom. They have five children in total. Their eldest daughter is Lilly, followed by Beverly. Richie comes after Beverly, and the youngest children are twins Selina and Kyle. Lilly, being the oldest child, is much more responsible and mature, especially compared to her younger siblings. She always has a reasonable head on her shoulders. We all go to her for more logical thinking. I have my father's attitude, so I am more of an act now and ask questions later kinda girl. So having someone like her to go to has saved us a lot of trouble. Beverly comes next and may be a bit of a middle child, trying to find her place in the family. She is very social and outgoing. She is always ready for anything. Trouble seems to love her. Because no matter where we go or she goes, it always seems to find her. Richie is the third child and is a bit of a troublemaker and class clown. He is the family jester, always making everyone laugh. Sometimes that is his biggest downfall. He doesn't always know when to be serious. Not everything is a joke. No matter how hard he tries to make it one. Selina and Kyle are the youngest and are twins! They have a really special bond and always stick together. It's so amazing that they have very different personalities and interests, despite being twins. They have this weird ability to know what each other is thinking and or wants without saying a word. Sometimes, when I was little, I wanted to have that kind of connection with someone. But now that I am older, I find it a little creepy. The next family member in line is Aunt Malia, who has a daughter named Donna. Donna is the eldest of all the cousins, and unfortunately, her father, Randon, passed away when she was very young. For a while, it was just Aunt Malia and Donna, until the Moon Goddess granted Aunt Malia a second chance at love when Donna was five. Although Uncle Ben was not her biological father, he raised Donna as if she was his own with great love and care. Then there's Aunt Ellie, or Elle for short, who has twin boys named Chris Jr. and Randon. Unfortunately, Uncle Chris passed away during the war before he was able to know about the pregnancy. In honor of him, Aunt Elle named one of the twins after him. The other twin, Randon, was named after Aunt Malia's mate, who also passed away. It's a touching tribute and a testament to the strong bond between Aunt Elle, Aunt Malia, and the rest of the family. Aunt Elle is an incredible woman, and it's heartwarming to see how much she cares for her family and friends. The fact that she named one of her twins after her mate and another after her best friend's mate, who also passed away, is a touching tribute to those she loves. It must be difficult for her to raise the twins on her own, but it's clear that she is a strong and loving mother to them. It's amazing how she found strength in the face of tragedy, and Aunt Elle is a shining example of that. It's important to remember and honor those we have lost, and it seems like Aunt Elle is doing just that by keeping her loved ones' memories alive in the names of her boys. Aunt Elles, son Chris Jr., has powers like she does. Randon doesn't. And that makes him upset sometimes. They are 21 years old. Not too much older than me. Chris and I have a tighter bond than Randon and I do. It isn't anything personal, but Randon likes to be a homebody, and I like to go out. Hiking, dancing, riding horses and whatever else I can get into. And I know if everyone I asked has said no. I can just call Chris Junior. He is always down to do whatever. I was still a bit peeved that my mom insisted on Aunt Elle and Uncle Kiel coming with us. I mean, come on, I'm almost 18 and don't need a babysitter. But I tried one last time to convince her that it could just be us without the adults. I said, "Mom, really? I don't need a babysitter. Aunt Elle and Uncle Kiel can stay home." But my mom, Queen Em, explained that they were coming along to make sure we all got to our destination safely. Plus, if we left the kingdom, we needed one of them to bring us back. And Uncle Kiel was there to protect us. I groaned, but my dad, King Q, gave me an ultimatum: either they come with us or we pick a place to go in the kingdom. So, we had no choice but to bring them along. We were all pumped up and ready to go to The Liquid Meadow. I was especially curious about the place where my parents found out they were mates. Mel and Rain were blasting music from the speakers, and we were all singing along. The drive was filled with laughter and chatter, and we couldn't wait to get there. Since we had a big group, we took a few cars. Aunt Elle and Uncle Kiel led the way, and when we got to the cliff, Aunt Elle did something crazy. She put her hands in the air and said something I couldn't hear. Suddenly, the clouds started changing, and there was a bright flash. Then, Aunt Elle got back in the car, and they drove over the cliff. But instead of falling, there was a clear bridge there! It was like magic! When I was a kid, my mom told me how everyone got to The Liquid Meadow, but I didn't believe her completely. But after seeing what Aunt Elle did, I believe everything my mom ever told me. As we crossed what was supposed to be a bridge, I peered out the window and saw nothing but open air. It was like we were flying! But then I looked down and saw a bunch of jagged rocks below us. I freaked out and closed my eyes tight, telling everyone in the car to let me know when we were safely across. No one said anything, but they cranked up the music and we all started singing along. Eventually, I opened one eye and saw that we had made it to the other side. We were all relieved and happy, so we sang some more to keep the good vibes going. The drive was pretty long, but it was worth it when we finally arrived at The Liquid Meadow. As we stepped into the club, the pulsating beat of the music and the dazzling lights immediately caught our attention. The place was teeming with people, all lost in the rhythm of the night. Uncle Kiel led the way, followed closely by Aunt Elle, and we made our way to the bar to order some drinks before hitting the dance floor. But this was no ordinary bar. It was a werewolf bar, and the drinks had a unique twist that set them apart from the usual human concoctions. While everyone else indulged in the potent brews, I chose to abstain. Drinking was never my thing, and I had no intention of starting now. As I ordered a Shirley Temple from the bartender, Heath looked at me incredulously. "Not drinking?" he asked, surprised. I shook my head. "You know I don't drink," I replied firmly. "But this is a celebration, right?" Heath persisted. I sighed. "No, not really. We're just here to dance. The celebration is tomorrow, remember?" Heath just nodded his head and turned and walked away from me. I can tell that it is really bothering Heath that tomorrow we will know if we are mates or not. I know it is very upsetting, but at the same time, I am starting to find it a little exciting. I don't dare say that out loud, because I don't want him to feel some kind of way. Donna expressed concern and asked if Heath and I were okay over the loud music. I reassured her that he was just nervous about tomorrow. She kindly offered her assistance if we needed anything. Donna is always attentive to my well-being. Mel suggested we dance, and Rain agreed, not wanting to stand around all night. Colton recommended they go dance, but Rain wanted everyone to join them. Darrow, however, wasn't in the mood to dance and urged Rain to take the girls with her. Heath also opted to stay and watch. Lilly complained about the music selection, and Beverly questioned the artist. Danon suggested requesting a song from the DJ. Randon offered to make the request but made a deal that none of them could ask him to dance unless he wanted to. Chris Jr. ridiculed the offer, but Randon defended it, preferring to admire the women from afar. Mel and Rain decided to go with Randon to approach the DJ. They wanted to make sure that Randon requested our favorite song ‘ I’m Good (Blue) by David Guetta. Once the DJ started playing it, we couldn't resist hitting the dance floor any longer. “I'm good, yeah, I'm feelin' alright Baby, I'ma have the best fuckin' night of my life And wherever it takes me, I'm down for the ride Baby, don't you know I'm good? Yeah, I'm feelin' alright” The pulsating beat of the music took hold of our bodies, moving us in perfect harmony with each other. The dance floor was packed with people, but at that moment, it felt like we were the only ones in the room. The energy was electric, and we were all swept up in the euphoria of the moment. As the song came to an end, we were left breathless and exhilarated, our bodies buzzing with excitement. We made our way back to the bar, where the guys were sitting, feeling a sense of euphoria that we knew would stay with us forever. It was a moment we would always remember, and we couldn't wait to create more memories like this in the future. I quickly scanned the room, making sure that everyone we came with was safe and accounted for. It's a habit I picked up from my parents, but I don't mind being the responsible one. The girls sometimes tease me for being a "fun sponge," but I know they're always safe under my watchful eye. And then, I saw him. Uncle Kiel, standing on the landing at the top of the staircase. It had to be the VIP lounge, with a bouncer stationed at the bottom of the stairs. As the final notes of the song echoed through the room, we were left breathless and exhilarated. The energy in the air was electric, and we all felt a sense of euphoria. It was a moment that would be etched in our memories forever, and we couldn't wait to create more unforgettable experiences like this in the future. As we made our way back to the bar, I scanned the room to make sure everyone was accounted for. It's a habit I picked up from my parents, but it always gave me peace of mind. When we arrived, Aunt Elle greeted us with a smile. "You all looked amazing on the dance floor tonight! Did you have fun?" she asked. Rain was the first to respond, "I had a blast! I want to do this again soon." Mel chimed in, "Yeah, let's come back next weekend!" Beverly groaned, "I think I'm going to need longer than a week for my feet to stop hurting." Lilly teased, "I told you not to wear those shoes." Beverly defended herself, "Shut up. How could I not have worn them? They match my outfit perfectly!" Donna interjected, "Do you really think anyone was looking at your shoes?" Beverly huffed, "I don't know if they were. But I was." Chris Jr. added his two cents, "I don't get it. If my shoes were bothering me, I would have taken them off. Or better yet, I wouldn't have worn them at all." Beverly rolled her eyes and retorted, "Yeah, well, what do you know about fashion?" As we bantered back and forth, Aunt Elle signaled to Uncle Kiel that we were getting ready to leave. He made his way down the stairs, but was stopped in his tracks when he reached the bottom. As my eyes met his, I was struck by his sheer presence. This man was no ordinary human - he was a force of nature. Standing tall at 6'4 and weighing in at 220 pounds, he exuded power and strength with every step he took. His long curly hair, pulled up into a ponytail, only added to his majestic aura. As he approached my Uncle Kiel, I couldn't help but notice the way he moved with grace and confidence, as if he knew he had everyone's attention. His muscles bulged as he shook hands with my uncle, and his striking mix of green and blue eyes seemed to pierce through me. But it wasn't just his physical appearance that captivated me. He had a contagious laugh that made everyone around him smile, and his tattoos of various designs covering his arms, chest, and back only added to his allure. As he and Kiel talked, I found myself unable to look away. But then, in an instant, his face turned serious and he spun around to look directly at me. I felt like a deer in headlights, frozen in place as he stared into my soul. But just as quickly as he had turned, he returned his attention to Kiel and finished their conversation. I couldn't help but feel a sense of awe and wonder at the sheer presence of this man - a true force to be reckoned with. Aunt Elle inquired if I was alright, to which I responded that I was simply tired and ready to leave. Aunt Elle suggested that all of us head to their cars and wait for Uncle Kiel there. We left The Liquid Meadow, with Uncle Kiel being the last to depart. He apologized for making us wait but explained that he had not seen the man in years. Rain assured him that it was not a problem and I also reassured him that there was no need to apologize. The group piled back into their respective cars, exhausted but content. The ride back to the castle was notably quieter, with each individual lost in their own thoughts. Despite the fatigue, I couldn't help but reflect on the enjoyable day and express gratitude for the experience. I anticipated that the graduation party tomorrow night would be even more unforgettable, just like Daniel.
