Chapter 5

*Kiel* At the end of the night, Elle contacted me. It was a relief to know that everyone was prepared to depart the club. Personally, I am not fond of large crowds or loud music. Throughout the entire evening, I kept a close eye on the VIP lounge, ensuring the safety and enjoyment of those in attendance. I descended the stairs to reunite with Elle and the children. This experience caused me to ponder the significance of responsible partying. During my childhood, a number of my peers lost their lives in a car accident as a result of drunk driving. By keeping watch over your loved ones and acquaintances, you can help ensure a pleasant evening rather than a hazardous one. As I made my way down the stairs, I spotted a former acquaintance in the distance. As he strode towards me, a flood of memories from our past came rushing back. We had been the closest of friends, despite attending rival high schools. But after graduation, life took us in different directions. He inherited his grandfather's pack after his sudden passing, while I remained with mine. Our conversations became fewer and farther between, until they eventually ceased altogether. But as he drew closer, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation. And when our eyes met, a smile spread across his face that lit up the entire room. It was as if no time had passed at all. We embraced each other tightly, and in that moment, it was clear that we still shared a deep connection. Despite the years that had gone by, we still had so much in common. It was a reunion that I never thought would happen, but I was grateful for the opportunity to reconnect with an old friend. As we caught up on each other's lives, I couldn't help but feel a sense of nostalgia for the days when we were young and carefree. But in that moment, I knew that our friendship was as strong as ever, and that nothing could ever break the bond that we shared. Kiel- Daniel Adam, how the hell are you? Daniel- Kiel Daniels! It's been years! I’m good, I’m good. How have you been? We shook hands. His grip has not weakened a bit. I kept a smile on so he didn't see that he was squeezing my hand a bit tight. Kiel- I have been great actually. What brings you back to town? Daniel- I am here on work as usual. Just thought I would come here and get a few drinks and listen to some music. It was the only place open when I finished my day out. What are you doing here? Kiel- I took my daughters, nephews, and nieces here with their friends. Daniel- What the hell? You have kids now? That is a shocker. Kiel- I know it was a shocker for me when I found out my mate was having my pup. How about you having any kids? Daniel- No, no kids. My mate died 10 years ago before we had the chance. Kiel- I am so sorry to hear about that man. Katie right? Daniel- Yeah. But it's all good. Jasper thinks that we are going to have a second chance mate. He has been talking about it all week. I think that he is just finally losing it. Kiel- That really does suck, and I am truly sorry that this happened to you. How have you been holding up? Daniel- It was really tough at first. But over time I learned how to deal with things and overcome others. I can now finally say I am really doing okay. Kiel- That’s gre….. The moment Daniel gazed out at the crowd, his entire facial expression changed as if he had seen a gigantic, 50-foot-tall monster looming behind him. I attempted to follow his gaze to see what had captured his attention, but the flashing lights made it difficult. When he turned back to me, he acted as if nothing had occurred, so I pretended nothing did either. I asked him how long he was going to be staying in town and he told me until next week, he's here on work. He then told me that he does come here often on work related things, and was debating on buying a place here so that he can stop getting a hotel everytime he is in town. I want to catch up with him more, and since we are already leaving and he is still enjoying his night, I invited him to come to Nevadas coming of age/ graduation/ birthday party tomorrow night. Daniel agreed, then asked me where it was going to be at. I stopped for a second when it hit me. He won't be able to get here without Elle. And I know how much of a ladies' man Daniel is. “How about this? You will meet me here tomorrow afternoon, and I will personally bring you to the kingdom. And you could even stay the night there and leave on Sunday.” I suggested it to him so that he didn't have to worry about anything. Daniel agreed to come and stay with us for the night. I was excited to let Emry see him. I don't think she has seen him in the same amount of time as me, if not longer. *Nevada* Heath and I barely exchanged a word tonight. I could sense his anger simmering just beneath the surface. Don't get me wrong, I'm upset too, but his childish behavior is making matters worse. It's as if he's convinced that nothing I do tomorrow night will be good enough. I'm praying that his attitude won't cause any problems, but knowing Heath, it's a distinct possibility. When we returned to the castle, I thanked Uncle Kiel and Aunt Elle for the lovely evening and made a beeline for my room. I locked the door behind me, still reeling from Heath's cold shoulder. All because I referred to tomorrow as a celebration. I know I won't come out on top in this situation. I stripped off my outfit and headed to the bathroom to wash my face and rinse the sweat from my body. The shower was a welcome respite, and I let the warm water wash away my worries. As I crawled into bed, I closed my eyes and drifted off to sleep. But my peaceful slumber was short-lived. Suddenly, I found myself in complete darkness, disoriented and confused. I called out to my parents, to Heath and Donna, but no one answered. Panic set in as I struggled to make sense of my surroundings. Then, a deep voice spoke, sending shivers down my spine. "Relax, little Luna. Everything is fine. You're safe here." I couldn't see who was speaking, but I felt a warm touch and the gentle brush of lips against my neck. A jolt of electricity coursed through my body, and I knew that nothing would ever be the same again. My vision was completely obscured, as if I had been struck blind. But in the darkness, my other senses were heightened to an almost supernatural degree. Suddenly, a voice pierced through the void, jolting me back to reality. "Mate," it said. With a start, I leapt out of bed and flung open the curtains and window. The sun's rays flooded in, blinding me momentarily. But as I gasped for fresh air, a sickening feeling churned in my stomach. I had just woken from a dream that felt all too real. A dream where I had betrayed my boyfriend, Heath. The guilt weighed heavily on me, even though it was just a dream. I felt like I had committed the most heinous, heart-wrenching act imaginable. And yet, it was only a figment of my imagination. As I leaned out of the window, trying to steady my breathing, my phone began to ring. I reluctantly tore myself away from the cool breeze and stalked over to my phone. With a sense of foreboding, I answered it. As I anxiously opened my phone to check my messages, my heart was pounding with anticipation. Deep down, I was hoping to see a message from Heath, hoping that he had forgiven me for whatever had upset him the night before. But as I read the words on the screen, my hopes were dashed. The message was from Brahn. "Hey Nevada," the message read. "I hope you had a good graduation night. I just wanted to wish you congratulations. Your parents said something about your graduation party tonight. I know I was not invited, but I did pick something up for you. Let me know if you have any spare time today for me to drop it off." Despite the polite words, I couldn't shake the feeling of unease that settled in my stomach. Brahn seems a bit too eager to get close to me, and I couldn't help but wonder what his true intentions were. But at the same time, I couldn't deny the curiosity that tugged at me. What had he picked up for me? And why had he gone out of his way to get it? As I typed out a response, my mind raced with questions and doubts. But one thing was for sure - this was going to be a graduation day I would never forget. . It's quite unsettling. I should just approach him politely and see what he has up his sleeve. I thanked him and apologized for not inviting him earlier, because I was not yet quiet acquainted with him at the time. Even though we really still arent acquainted now, I just thought since I agreed to be friends, this would be a good way to feel him out more. I told him that the party is going to start at 4 PM. He thanked me for allowing him to come to the party. Why are the men around me behaving so strangely? First, there's Health, but his attitude is justifiable. Then there's that very sexy man, who was conversing with Uncle Kiel last night, followed by Brahn's intense staring and odd behavior before graduation, and his cryptic message this morning. And to top it off, that damn dream. I couldn't even recognize the man in the dream, but it was unsettling, to say the least. I can't help but wonder if all of this is a premonition of what's to come tonight. Is it a sign that tonight's events will be a grand spectacle? The tension is palpable, and I can't shake the feeling that something significant is about to happen. I must remain vigilant and prepared for whatever may come my way."
