CHAPTER 28 – MOMENTS IN TIME

WYATT’S POV

I climbed into bed and pulled Kat into my arms and breathed in her scent as I closed my eyes

She tasted even more incredible than I’d ever imagined, and her body was stunning, the only blemish on her was that f*cking awful scar on her chest, a scar my father had given her.

‘All those years we’d searched for the bastard who’d attacked her, and it was our own father’ Kai growled

‘How did we miss it’ I groaned ‘He was hurt, it was a silver cut and he threatened us all the time with touching her just to keep me in line, like when Kat’s siblings were born’

That day had been on my mind all day because Kat brought up her promise not to be with anyone but her mate, I was glad she wasn’t angry at me about it.

Kat yarned and snuggled up against me and I pulled her tighter against my chest.

‘This is nice’ I murmured and kissed her throat ‘We could sleep like this every night if you’d just move in now’

‘Goodnight Alpha’

I growled playfully and kissed her throat again and she shivered, I loved that reaction from her, she was so sensitive to my touch.

I slowly slipped my hand down her stomach and she tensed, I paused for a moment before kissing her throat again and continuing my hand under my shirt she was wearing and Kat’s breathing increased.

‘Do you want me to stop?’

‘No’

I slipped my hand inside of her underwear and began rubbing her c**t gently, she began moaning instantly and I swear I nearly came in my pants, I hadn’t done that since I was a teenager, my body reacted to her every movement, she turned me on like no one I’d ever been with.

I slipped a finger inside of her and she exhaled in a loud moan.

‘F*ck’ I moaned ‘Moan for me again baby’

I bit down gently on her throat and she cried out my name, I wanted to flip her onto her back and f*ck her hard

but she wasn’t ready and she was still so tight, I wouldn’t fit inside of her without hurting her.

I pushed a second finger into her and increased my speed, pushing my fingers in and out of her while I used my thumb to rub her c**t.

She was breathing loudly ‘I think my girl needs to be rewarded for keeping her promise all these years’

‘Promise?’ She asked before she moaned loudly, and her body began to shake.

‘To never let anyone but your mate touch you’ I whispered ‘You’re mine, I’ve waiting so long to touch you like this, too have you in my arms, I want to hear you moan baby’

I continued to touch her until she’d c*m twice, I didn’t want to stop, I wanted to touch her all night, go down on her again, kiss her, taste her, listen to her moaning until the sun came up but she once again passed out on me.

I smiled to myself and pulled her close 'Good night baby'

DREAM

'Alpha Wyatt!' The sweetest sound in my universe called out to me and I turned around to see Kat running down the sidewalk towards me with a very pregnant Shay wattling behind her looking tired and holding two bags.

I smiled, Kat had a lot of energy, I'd noticed that she never sat still for too long and I felt bad for Shay

Kat's hair was longer now than the last time I'd seen her, and she was wearing a pretty purple dress covered in sparkles but no shoes, she often ran around without shoes on.

I'd heard her arguing with her father one morning by the car while I was at Beau's for a morning workout, Kat refused to put them on and said she wanted to feel the grass, but her father forced her, I'd smiled to myself when she glared at him behind his back.

As always Kai started wagging his tail and getting excited whenever she was close, it was bitter sweet seeing her, why did the goddess give her to me while she was still so young, was I being punished for something?

'Hello Katomi' I greeted her but then she noticed Beau and her face lit up

'Hello Beta Beau!' Kat waved and smiled at him, making me a little jealous.

Beau was leaning against the brick wall of the shop I was going to renovate but he smiled and knelt down to Kat.

'Hello' He reached out his fist and I tensed for a second before I realised he would never hit her, Kat smile and bumped her fist up to his 'And how is my favourite girl'

Kai growled deep inside of me and I wanted to put Beau through the wall... She was MINE!

'I’m good' She answered 'Do you like my new dress? Shay got it for me in the human town!'

'I do' Beau smiled happily 'It’s very pretty, just like you'

'Beau go speak to Rick about the renovations' I snapped, I didn't like how close he was to my mate.

Beau frowned up at me in confusion before he looked back at Kat, s**t, was I giving it away, I took a breath to steady myself.

'I've got to go kiddo' Beau told Kat 'Work never ends around here, I will see you at the bbq when the babies arrive'

'Ok' Kat smiled and waved to him

Wait, what bbq, why wasn't I invited?

'Bye beautiful' Beau said and stood up, he gave me a puzzled look before walking back inside

'Do you like my dress too Alpha Wyatt?'

I smiled, oh so now I got her attention, now that Beau was gone, I hated this feeling of jealousy and she was just a child, how was I going to deal with it when she was older and men actually wanted her

'Hello Alpha' Shay finally reached us 'Sorry, this one got away from me'

'Its fine' I responded and knelt next to Kat like Beau had done 'And yes, I like your dress, it's lovely, is this your favourite colour?'

'Yes' Kat nodded and I made a mental note that purple was her favourite

'How are you feeling Shay?'

'Like I could pop at any minute now'

Kat giggled and gently hugged her step mother's stomach 'The babies have been kicking her tummy all day so we came home to

finish shopping here'

'You went shopping in the human town?' I asked and looked at the bags Shay was holding.

'Yes' She nodded 'I needed a few last-minute things for the twins but like Kat said, we decided to finish up here'

I didn't like Kat leaving my territory, I didn't have guards in the human towns, what if something happened to her, it was torture enough when her father took her away on her birthday to the mixed pack, it was close to the Fae capital.

I had thrown a massive fit about it, but my father had stepped in and over ruled me, for some reason he didn't care about Kat going, he really was so strange when it came to her.

'I see' I nodded 'I think I'll speak to my father about building a mall here, I don't like having to rely on the humans for things we need'

'And mate wouldn't have to leave the territory' Kai said happily

'That would be great Alpha' Shay smiled

'Yes' Kat nodded and I looked over at her from where I was still kneeling 'I don't like going into the human town, they smell funny'

I laughed before I could stop myself, humans did smell strange

'Katomi' Shay scolded her 'We've spoken about this, you can't talk about people's scents'

Kat pouted and looked down 'But they do smell funny' She commented, the girl didn't know when to stop, she was so stubborn

'Everyone smells funny, I don't like anyone's smell here, except Alpha Wyatt's, I like his smell'

Shit...

'Sorry Alpha' Shay said quickly as Kai began to wag his tail happily, he liked that she liked our scent 'She's still so young, she doesn't understand how inappropriate it is'

'It’s alright Shay' I told her 'Thank you Kat but you shouldn't say things like that, you'

'Ouch!' Shay gasped and I looked up at her

'Shay?!' Kat gasped and looked at her stepmother nervously

'Are you alright?'

'Just a cramp' She shrugged but I think it was just to calm down Kat, she looked like she was in pain 'I think I need the bathroom, come on sweetheart we should get home'

'You can use the bathroom in the building' I gestured to the building Beau had walked into earlier 'No one is inside, here'

I stood up and took the bags she was holding before walking inside.

Kat followed after me and I smiled to myself when she grabbed the back of my jacket, I wondered if she'd even realised she'd done that.

I stopped by a table and placed the bags on-top 'The bathrooms through there Doc'

'Thank you, Alpha,' She smiled 'Sweetheart come with me'

'But I want to stay with Alpha Wyatt’ Kat said and hugged my arm

'It’s alright, I'll stay with her until you get back'

'If you're sure' Shay looked at Kat 'Behave'

'I always behave' Kat pouted as she let me go and sat down on one of the chairs, I smiled again, she was going to be an interesting mate if she was always this argumentative.

I sat down next to Kat while Shay walked down the hallway

'Alpha Wyatt' Kat looked up me 'Why can’t I say you smell nice?'

I looked around to make sure Beau was in one of the other rooms with Rick before answering her in a low voice.

'Has your father explained about mates to you?'

Kat nodded but still looked at me with confusion.

'Well someone's scent helps you know who your mate is' I tried to explain without giving too much away, she was still just a little girl after all 'The better someone smells to you, the more likely they're your mate'

'But..' She frowned at me 'You smell the best to me'

Shit.. I couldn't let her know we were mates, I wanted her to have a happy normal childhood free of burdens I needed to make sure she never said anything like this out loud again, she could put herself in danger if one of my enemies found out she was mine.

'I only smell nice to you because I'm your Alpha'

'But I've met other alpha's and they didn't smell nice, and you just said whoever smells the nicest is'

'Enough!' I said firmly and she leant back looking scared, I hated myself for this but it was to keep her safe 'You cannot say that again, one day when you're old enough to understand I'm sure your father will explain it to you but until you are of age, you cannot talk about someone's scent and you can never tell anyone that I smell the best to you'

'I won't' She said quietly and I knew it had worked, she was upset and I hated myself.

'I don't mean to be stern with you but it's for your own good' I leant over to touch her cheek but she moved away from me and pouted, goddess that one tiny rejection hurt like hell 'When you're older it will make sense why you can't talk about these kinds of things and besides, it would upset your mate if he heard you say I smelt the best'

'I’m not going to have a mate' She mumbled quietly, if I didn't have Alpha hearing I’m sure I wouldn't have heard her at all.

'Why do you say that?' I asked and she looked up at me with fear, s**t, what did I say wrong now? 'Of course you will and I bet you that he's in the pack, you may have already met him'

'It won't matter' Kat responded 'He won't accept me, I don't want a mate anyway, boys are gross, Cameron ate a snail on a dare the other day so I punched him and he dobbed on me so daddy grounded me again'

I suppressed a laugh 'Please don't punch the boys' I said gently

I heard footsteps and we both looked up to see Shay coming back.

'How are you feeling?'

'A little better but we should get home' She answered 'I think it might be time'

'Time for what?' Kat asked

'For your brother and sister to come' Shay answered

'Oh' Kat nodded, still completely clueless to the labour that Shay was already in 'But they won't come today, they're coming tomorrow at sunrise, I saw it in my dream'

Shay's eyes widened but I laughed 'Is that so, well you better get home and prepare, are you alright to drive?'

'I have time before the next contraction' She told me 'I will be alright, sweetheart will you pass me the bags'

'I can carry them' Kat said as she slid off the chair and picked them up 'Goodbye Alpha'

'Goodbye' I smiled at her struggling with the bags but refusing to give them to Shay who tried to take them 'I will link William to

come back from patrol'

'Thank you Alpha, goodbye'

'Should she be driving?' Kai wondered as I walked towards the room Beau and Rick were in.

'She will be alright' I answered 'She's a doctor, I'm sure she knows when her next contraction will be'

'I guess'

I linked William and told him that Shay was in labour and gave him permission to return before his shift was up, Kai ignored my

conversation with William but then he erupted in full fear when a thought occurred to him.

'But what if she has a contraction while she's driving and she crashes, twin births are unpredictable!'

Shit, he had a point, Kat could get hurt, she could get killed!

I turned instantly and ran from the room.

'Wyatt!' Beau called after me in confusion, but I ignored him.

I followed Kats scent down the street but then I heard her scream, and my body froze in fear.

I turned the corner to see Shay gasping on her knees while blood pooled underneath her.

Kat was crying and gripping hold of Shay's sleeve.

'Doctor Shay!' A woman who worked at the flower shop screamed and rushed over.

I quickly knelt down beside them and placed my hand on Kats back to calm her down

'Alpha Wyatt do something!' She turned to me with wide scared eyes.

'Its going to be alright Kat' I smiled and gently stroked her hair to comfort her.

'It wont' She argued 'Shays bleeding, she's going to die!'

I understood her fear now, she'd lost her mother, and she was terrified she'd lose Shay too.

'Just breath Shay' The florest said as Shay groaned and held her stomach

'She's not going to die' I told Kat calmly 'Its going to be alright, your brother and sister are coming, that's why Shay's bleeding'

'No' She argued 'I told you, they aren't coming until tomorrow'

'Labour takes a long time' I told her, why hadn't her father prepared her for this, I was furious, I hated seeing Kat so frightened 'Shays

in labour right now but the babies will come by tomorrow'

'But..' Kat looked at Shay in fear

'Its alright sweetheart' Shay panted but then she groaned again and Kat started crying again so I cupped Kats face and forced her to look at me.

'Katomi, do you trust me?' Kat looked scared and turned to Shay for a second before answering

'Daddy said I can't trust anyone but him and Shay'

'Kat' Shay said in warning but then she groaned again.

What the hell was that about? Why had he told her not to trust anyone?

'Well you can trust me, I promise' I told her 'And I promise Shay will be okay, now I need you to be a big girl and help me, can you do that?'

'Yes' She sniffed and I wiped the tears from her cheeks.

'Thats my good girl' I smiled 'We need to get Shay to the hospital so I'm going to carry her to the car, I need you to come with us ok'

'Ok' She said and stood up.

'Alright Doc' I said and moved over to her 'Put your arms around me'

'But..' Shay looked nervous 'I can't, you’re my Alpha, it'

The rest of her argument was cut off by another contraction and Kat gasped and grabbed my jacket in fear.

‘I want daddy!’

'Its okay' I took her hand in mine and rubbed it gently 'This is all normal, Shay's just fine'

Kat nodded and I turned back to Shay, I waited for the contraction to stop before I scooped her up.

Kat grabbed the bags she'd dropped and raced after me but when we reached the car she quickly opened the door and threw them in

the backseat before opening the passenger side door.

I gently sat Shay down 'Thank you Alpha, I really appreciate this'

'All in a days work mam' I joked 'Kat, please give me the keys'

'I can drive Alpha Wyatt' Kat said innocently as she held the keys and I laughed.

'Nice try' I smiled at her 'Hand them over and hop in'

'Fine' Kat pouted and handed them over 'But I can, can't I Shay, daddy taught me'

'Yes sweetheart' Shay said breathlessly 'You're a very good driver'

'Why did her father teach her to drive when she's still so young?' Kai growled as I walked around to the drivers side.

'Beats me' I shrugged 'He teaches her the strangest s**t, first the fighting and those idiotic survival camping trips he takes her on, I

can't wait until she's finally ours and we can treat her the way she's meant to be treated'

'I agree' Kai said as I started the car and took off

After we reached the hospital I carried Shay inside and sat her down on a bed while her colleagues rushed around her looking excited.

'Katomi honey' One of the older nurses addressed her 'Why don't you come with me until daddy or aunty Joy come'

I looked down at Kat, she was still looking extremely frightened and I knew I couldn't leave her like this.

'I will take care of her until her father arrives' I said firmly and reached out my hand for her to take 'Please get back to work'

'Yes Apha' She said and I walked Kat to my private waiting room.

'Yay' Kat said excitedly once we were inside 'I can't wait to see aunty Joy, I hope she brings Amond'

'Amond?' Kai growled jealousy

'Who’s Amond?' I asked as she climbed onto a chair and started swinging her legs, she really couldn't sit still.

'Baby Amond' She said as if it were obvious 'Aunty Joys baby, his so cute and fat' She giggled 'He threw up on me but I didn't care'

But then she looked at her dress and frowned

'My baby brother and sister ruined my new dress' I pressed my lips together, she was so cute.

I held out my hand 'Come with me'

'Where are we going?' She asked as she jumped down.

I took her hand and walked her out of the room, I took her into the gift shop and lead the way to the clothing section.

'Theres not a lot to choose from' I told her 'But pick whatever you want'

'But' She looked up at me with adorable but confused eyes 'I don't have any money'

'Don’t worry about that' I said as I grabbed a new shirt and hideous brown pants for myself, I was also covered in Shay's blood.

Kat hesitated as she looked at the clothing but I was excited to buy her something, I just wished the first set of clothes I bought her didn't come from a hospital.

'Here' I pulled down a purple shirt that was a size too big for her and some black pants with stars on them 'This will do until you get home'

'Thank you, Alpha'

'Would you like some shoes too?'

'No' She shook her head.

'The hospital is cold, you could get sick walking around bare footed'

'I don't like shoes' She pouted and I smiled, I knew she'd refuse but I had to try 'Very well but if your feet get cold you have to tell me'

After I purchased the clothing I took Kat to the bathrooms to change.

I finished dressing before her so I linked one of the cafeteria staff to bring us some lunch while I waited outside the women's toilets for her to come out but she was taking a long time.

'7 year olds can dress themselves can't they?' I asked Kai 'Maybe she's having problems, should we go in and help her?'

'I don't know?'

I was torn between my desire to help my mate and the realisation that it may be a tad creepy to help her change when she was still so little.

While I was debating myself, she finally came out holding her dress and wearing her new clothes so I ushered her back into the waiting room.

Kat climbed back onto her seat and looked around the room while I sat down and watched her.

She was the cutest little girl I'd ever seen, I was going to have a dam beautiful mate when she grew up, the shallow Alpha side of me enjoyed that idea a lot.

'Alpha Wyatt?'

'Yes'

'Does it hurt a lot to have a baby?' She asked, looking up at me with concern 'Shay looked like it was hurting her a lot'

'Um..' Should I lie to her?

'No' Kai growled.

'Well I can't speak from personal experience' I smiled at her and she giggled, I really loved that sound 'But yes, it hurts a lot'

'Then why would you want to have a baby?' She asked in confusion 'I am not going to have a baby if it hurts'

I smiled, oh yes you will.

'But what if your mate wants a baby?'

'He can have his own baby' She commented and began swinging her legs once more

I laughed 'Having a baby with your mate is a beautiful thing' I told her 'It shows him that you love him very much'

'Is that why Shay is having daddy’s babies?' She asked 'Because she loves him?'

'Yes'

'Ew' She giggled and I agreed with her 'Do you know how babies get inside of your tummy, daddy told me after Shay got pregnant, it's so gross, I'm not doing that'

Again I stopped myself from laughing, not only would she be doing that but as often as I could seduce her into it, if I have to wait all these years to have her, we were going to make up for it.

'You don't have to worry about that kind of thing just yet Kat' I told her but then a thought occurred to myself and Kai and I couldn't help myself from influencing her, it was wrong, so wrong, I knew that but I really couldn't stop myself

'In fact' I leant over to her 'You shouldn't worry about it until you find your mate, you have to promise me that you will only do that kind of thing with him, okay' '

Why?'

'Because it might make him sad, and you wouldn't want to do that would you?'

'No'

'Good, so you have to promise me'

'Ok'

‘Pinkie promise'

Kat's face lit up and she held up her pinkie 'Pinkie promise'

We linked fingers before sitting back comfortably.

The door to my waiting room opened and Ally, one of the cafeteria staff came in holding two trays.

I sighed internally, She would often hit on me and wouldn't get the hint that I wasn't iterested, I tried to avoid women Kat was on a regular basis.

'Hello Alpha'

'Hello Ally' I stood and reached out for the trays 'I can take the trays'

'Of course, your majesty' She said and handed them over.

'Ally guess what?' Kat called out 'My baby brother and sister are coming!'

'I know' Ally smiled at her 'You'll have to help Shay when you go home, twins are a lot of work'

'I will' Kat said seriously

'Good girl' She said and turned back to me 'Is there anything else I can do for you Alpha?'

'No Ally, thanks for the food'

‘You're welcome' She turned to leave but I frowned at the trays of food

'Wait, I thought I said to bring two cokes?'

'Oh, you did' She blushed 'But I know that Kat doesn't like soft drinks, so I got her a water'

'Is that true?'

Katomi nodded 'They're gross'

'Strangest kid ever that one' Ally joked but I growled before I could stop myself and she tensed 'Goodbye Alpha'

She rushed from the room and I sat down and placed the food trays on the empty seat between us.

'I got you chicken nuggets and chips and a salad' I told her but she looked upset 'Would you like my burger instead?'

'No thank you Alpha' She said softly and picked up the small salad.

'You upset her!' Kai growled 'She mustn't like chicken nuggets, get her something else'

'If you want something else I can'

The waiting room door opened and William came in looking very excited.

'Daddy!' Kat jumped up and ran over to hug him, I hated how jealous this made me, I only wanted her to be that excited to see me

'Hi bunny' William picked her up

'Daddy my baby brother and sister are coming!' Kat said excitedly

'I know, it won't be long now’ He said happily ‘Thanks for watching her Alpha, Joy should be here soon if you want to go, I can ask one of the nurses to watch Kat until she arrives, she usually stays with them when she tags along with Shay'

'I can stay with her' I told him, I didn't want my time with her to be up so soon 'Besides, we were just about to have lunch'

William looked at the tray and then back at Kat who for some reason gave him a sad expression.

'It’s ok bunny' He said and kissed her cheek 'Thank you for the food Alpha but I don't allow Kat to eat junk food, I will link Joy and ask her to bring something for her to eat'

Junk food? I looked at the tray, it was just chips and nuggets, what's his problem.

'Surely you can make an exception just this once' I asked 'It’s a special occasion after all'

'I don't think so Alpha' He shook his head and I suppressed a growl, I hated that it was his decision, part of me wanted to tell him right here and now that she was mine and that I could give her junk food if I wanted, I could give her anything I dam well wanted, food or otherwise but I kept quiet, she wasn't ready for that kind of news

'I have to go check on Shay now bunny, but aunty Joy will be here in about half an hour'

'Okay'

'In the meantime just eat the salad if you’re hungry and behave, I don't want to hear from the Alpha that you were being naughty'

'Yes daddy'

'Thats my girl'

Again I suppressed a growl, SHE WAS MY GIRL!

He kissed her cheek and placed her back on the chair

'I really appreciate this Alpha, thanks'

I nodded and watched him leave the room before I turned back to Kat.

'So that's why you looked upset at the food' I said and picked up my burger 'You know, if you want to eat it, I won't tell, it can be our secret'

‘I shouldn’t lie to daddy’ Kat shook her head and picked up her salad again and I sighed.

For the next half an hour, I watched Kat eat her salad before she started getting restless again, she wondered around the room chatting happily before going over to the water fountain and filling up cup after cup with water and watering the various plants in the room, she even started moving them around to new spots.

When I asked her why, she told me that some plants liked a lot more sun then others, I smiled at this, my mother loved gardening, they were going to get along fine.

After she was done with the plants she asked if I wanted to play eye spy, I'd never played any kind of game before, so it was fun to play one with her, we were on our 4th round when the waiting room door opened again and a black haired women walked in wearing a long dress and oversized jumper.

'Aunty Joy!' Kat pounced off of her chair and rushed over but then she paused and frowned 'Where’s my baby Amond?'

'Hello my angel' Joy scooped her up and hugged her tight.

I was very pleased that she treated Kat like her real niece, I was worried at first because Shay's family weren't blood related to Kat but like a lot of people in the pack, they fell in love with her instantly.

'Maybe she will be a white Lycan' Kai had said after Shay and Williams wedding 'Everyone that meets her seems to fall in love with her and it’s the same for white Lycans'

‘Possibly’ Id commented.
