After three days, the aftershocks gradually decreased and cleared in a week. Turns out that crazy major Earth shift s**t I overheard the Science professors in the university say is just that. s**t.
Eventually in two weeks, it became safe for us to go back to the city. The power was restored and so was the communication. The university has called us back to resume classes after this weekend and Ethan needed to go back to work as well.
