Brown orbs kept staring into the golden ones. It felt as though they were so familiar yet so unknown. Warmth was all I could feel as I looked into the golden orbs.
My heart kept beating rapidly but for the first time it wasn’t due to anxiety or nervousness but due to a weird feeling that suddenly engulfed me. My mind and heart fell into a battle once again. My heart kept saying I knew them but my mind kept rejecting the idea.
What was happening to me?
We were busy staring at each other and none of us noticed the sudden move with which Karl got up and bit on one one of the lycan’s hands.
A horrified gasp left my lips but the lycan seemed unfazed. Not a single sound was emitted from him but the one beside him did not appreciate it as with a speed I had never seen before, he picked Karl by his throat and threw him across the wall.
I backed away from the scene as the lycans then went towards Karl with deadly looks in their eyes. It wasn’t like I had never seen lycans, no, I did see, many times at that but these two were so different. So huge and powerful. Their strong aura engulfed the place the moment I saw them. Their speed was something that I thought only vampires had up until now.
As slowly as I could, I tried to get away from the scene. First Karl and now this weird feeling. This was all too much for me to handle.
I walked away from the scene with a thudding heart and wet eyes. My shaky legs took me as away as they could from the place and I was finally out of the building and in the open.
Sitting on the bench, I closed my eyes and all my tears that were welled up in it now fell freely down my cheeks. I didn’t know what I was crying about. The fact that I was harassed or the fact the feelings that bloomed in my heart were too terrifying to accept.
Silence was all around me and my skin was covered with goosebumps but my mind was in a different place.
“He kissed you.”
“I kissed my mate.”
“She is mine.”
“She is mine too.”
My eyes snapped open at the sudden voices in my head. Sitting up straight I held my now aching head. A scenario was playing in my head. Me and two other people. Hugging, laughing, talking..
Ahhh!! Stop it! Stop it!
The pain only increased as scene after scene started playing in my head like a movie. Nothing ever too clear apart from a few in which I was surrounded by unknown people. The voices started getting muffled and I could feel myself slipping into the dark as the headache and frustration was becoming too much for me to handle.
“ZARA!!”

Groaning a little, I opened my eyes only to be met with darkness. Blinking a few times, I opened my eyes completely and was able to see the highlights of the room. Moving a little, I switched on the lights that had me shutting my eyes once again due to the harsh invasion.
Looking around, I was surprised to find myself in my room.
Someone must have found me and brought me back.
I fell back on the bed and looked at the digital clock that read 2:56 a.m. The memories before me fainting came back like a flood and I tried my best to control the tears.
I knew if I remained like this, I was gonna do something reckless, so removing the duvet off me, I walked into the balcony. The once soothing fragrances now did nothing to calm my restless heart. Instead I started craving a different scent. Which? I had no idea myself.
Sitting near the edge of the balcony, I put my chin on my palm and closed my eyes trying to think of something that could calm my soul rather than my mind.
Rather than thinking of a memory, two pairs of eyes became visible in my mind. First, the silverish blue and second, the golden orbs. I grew tense once again but a sudden scent hit my nostrils, relaxing my whole form the very instant.
My eyes remained close as I greedily took in the fragrance but they shot open once my mind registered that I had never smelt the scent before.
I shot up from the chair and looked around but found nothing. The remains of the scent were still around me, engulfing me like a soothing comforter and it took a lot of self control to not relax in it’s blanket once again.
“Is someone there?”
I tried to sound confident but even I could sense the underlying fear in my tone.
Nothing apart from the flowing breeze met my ears. Sighing heavily, I then walked back into the room.
What was happening with me?
Getting under the covers, I stared into space. My mind kept wandering around the same eyes that had turned my world upside down since I saw them. I closed my eyes after almost an hour of arguing with myself and when my eyes were almost shut, my senses were greeted with the same scent. I didn’t try fighting it this time as my tensed body melted in its embrace and my wreaked mind shut down completely.

Large amount of sunlight fell on my eyes, as I tried to cover them up. Seeing that there was no chance of me winning against the damn sun, I finally threw the covers off me.
Today, I only got to see- more like hear just a single statement but no, I wasn’t going to find why I was getting them. I am done with this sudden havoc that entered my dreams. They wanna show up? Let them. I am no longer going to give them any importance.
“Girl, how can you sleep so much?”
Realizing that I was talking to myself while glaring at the poor duvet, I looked up and saw Nadine giving me a fake glare.
“I wasn’t sleeping.”
“Hmmm, whatever.”
She came running to me and jumped on the bed making me bounce a little too. A smile came on my lips as she behaved like she owned the room.
“By the way, you didn't tell me about those handsome hunks from last night.”
“Huh?”
She rolled her eyes and hit my forehead and I pouted in annoyance.
“Do not act innocent with me lady. I saw the tension between you two. Wait.. you three in your case.”
My eyes became wide as saucers after hearing her words and I hit her with a pillow, all the while trying my best to control the traitorous blush that started blooming on my cheeks.
“Stop talking rubbish. We were just having a normal conversation.”
“With a very heated air around yourselves. Ahem, I believe you.”
Sarcasm was clear in her voice as she looked at me. We kept looking at each other and she finally rolled her eyes while gripping my face in her hands.
“Spill the tea. Why were they carrying you? Where did you go with them?”
“Carrying me?”
Confusion was clear on my face and her mouth fell open at my statement. She looked like someone stole her favourite candy and without a warning slapped my left shoulder.
“Ouch lady, why are you being so violent?”
“Do not tell me that you have no idea who brought you to your room..”
Her warning tone was missed by me and I did the mistake of asking,
“Who?”
All hell broke loose as she pounced on me like an angry tigress. Hitting me with the pillow with me reciprocating the action. The fight kept going on for half an hour until both of us got tired and gave up.
Taking deep breaths, I asked,
“Now will you please tell me what you were referring to?”
She looked at me through half closed eyes and nodded her head slightly.

Flashback
Third person’s POV
“ZARA!!”
The twins raced to their now unconscious mate and held her close to them. They had transformed back to their human form and were coming in her search when they saw her fainting on the bench.
“s**t! Her body is burning..”
Said a worried looking Alexio.
Only they knew what was going through their minds. Having her, their mate, so close to them after more than a hundred years yet she felt like she was far. All they wanted to do was scoop her away from the world but they didn’t want to terrify her.
They had waited for these many years, what were a few more.
“The bloody half-blood will die with my hands today.”
Alden said and Zale (his lycan) was making his presence known once again. Their beasts had taken control when they saw the half blood touching their mate inappropriately and the tears and fear in their mate’s eyes were enough to drive them insane.
“Alden, not now. We need to get her back inside.”
“But-”
“Alden.”
He sighed knowing that he wasn’t going to win this argument. His eyes fell on the unconscious beauty who had a few strands of her hair on her face. His hand moved on itself and tugged it behind her ears, he was sure that if she was awake then her face would resemble a tomato at the gesture.
“Alden, Control.”
His almost invisible smile vanished completely and he gave a blank look to his twin.
“I am in control.”
Alexio smiled teasingly at his twin and encountered back.
“I can see that.”
“Look who's talking. Don’t even ask me the amount of desire that is seeping through our link.”
Alden retorted back with a teasing smile of his own. The tip of Alexio’s ears became red but can you blame him? He was holding his love in his arms and with Zeke (his lycan) sending images of them tangled was not helping his situation.
“Shut up. We need to get her in safely.”
“Yeah yeah.”
Alexio gave him a glare but it’s not like Alden was scared, he simply knew what his twin was going through and immediately stopped the teasing.
They walked back inside with their unconscious mate and made their way towards her room.
Just as Alexio placed her on the bed, Nadine came running.
“Zara!! What happened to her?”
She asked as she ran up to her and swatted Alexio’s hand away. He didn’t appreciate the move but still complied as he knew that her best friend was only looking out of her.
“Nothing much. She is just exhausted with all the talks and meetings. I believe you should let her rest.”
She looked at the two with suspicious gaze but seeing their stoic expressions and the fact that their tone was completely honest, she only nodded her head and thanked them for the gesture.
The twins looked at their mate one last time with longing and letting out deep sighs. They left her room which was filled with her scent and they and their beasts couldn’t get enough of it.

Zara’s POV
“He carried me?”
She shrugged and said,
“I am not sure. When I came all I saw was him placing you on the bed.”
“Hmm….”
If they carried me then does it mean..
The lycans….
Was it them?
