Marguerite has loved Henri for as long as she could remember.

She had loved playing with the slightly chubby cute boy that lived in the same estate,

Always admired the smart and exquisite looking teenager that attended the same middle school as she did,

Was enamored with the school grass in highschool

Her infatuation never dying even when he got engaged in college

instead, she followed behind him. Despite his distance, despite the fact that he didn't seem to remember not care about their childhood friendship

Despite him not regarding her feelings, despite the disgust in his eyes whenever she approached him.

she believed she could change him, could make him love her, even just a little.

But all her fantasies came crashing to the ground when she saw his wedding announcement.

Was this it was this how years of endearments was going to end.

She would never stoop so low as to go after a married man.......But he wasn't married now, was he?

So, she did something, something extremely stupid.

And now he was out for blood, her blood... even if it meant breaking her into a million pieces he would make her pay.

-------------

Using the premise of her sins, he tied her to himself, locking her away from the rest of the world and making her atone in ways that gratified him

Was it just payback or something more?

Was the desire in his body for her, one that stemmed from his younger years just passing lust?

Was the suppressed longing in his eyes just pity?

Was the constant urge to be around her, his feeble excuse to torture her?

Somehow, that girl from his childhood had become his obsession.

"But we discover some things too late, and what's left are just broken shards and slipping Memories."

Goodbye world
"Make sure the best and I mean only the best, are assigned to treat her. Do you understand?" His voice deep yet charming settled in their ears. They could only bow in adherence, after all he had the power and wealth behind him. But as they walked away, they whispered to themselves wondering who the frail lady was, who could make the great Mr Henri of the Moreau family worried about her. A group of men walked towards the brooding man, his Grey eyes the same shade as their suit. They were Mr Henri's bodyguards. "Boss we brought the food." they reported,"we could take it to miss now." " Hm, Good." he replied absentmindedly, but then in the next second changed his mind. "No need I'll take it to her instead." he said, stretching his hands towards the guards who exchanged glances in surprise. This was the God of the business world, the ever cold and unfeeling CEO. It was already surprising that he brought the lady to the hospital and was personally taking care of her affairs, But offering to take food to a woman? "Boss?.....a-are you sur–" one of them tried to confirm. "Was it a request." getting irritated, Mr Henri asked, his voice menacing. "No, no.... no sir." the guards responded in fright handing over the bags. Collecting the bags, the man gave them a look over his shoulder as he walked towards the opposite direction. Clutching unto the doorknob of a room, he stopped, rearranged his clothes and hair, Before pushing the door open. But the empty room made him pause in his tracks, a faint premonition raising in his heart. Walking closer to the empty bed, he felt it and discovered it was slightly warm, the soft slippers besides the bed were also gone. The windows were tightly shut and fastened, with only the sound of the soft whirring of the ventilator restraining the silence. Straightening up he was about to make a call but his eyes caught a faint trail of blood leading to the door, knitting his brows he followed the trail his phone still placed beside his ear. Walking into the corridor, his eyes followed the trail to the.... stairs. The ascending stairs. This was the highest floor in the hospital the only place those stairs led to was–Roof! At that thought the initially calm Henri lost his composure, his fingers rapidly moved across his phone as he hurried up the stairs, his heart beating fast against his chest. Reaching the roof, he was immediately hit with the strong wind expected of such heights. Paying no heed to that his eyes swept across the flat space, his thoughts immediately calming. She wouldn't dare. A sigh of relief escaped his lips as he turned towards the door making a call to his guards so that they would search the perimeters for her. But then he heard a gasp. Swiftly turning his head in high alert, his eyes caught sight of a hand holding unto the banister used in surrounding the roof, the rest of the person's body was obstructed by a few hospital blankets swaying in the wind. But he knew it was a female. His emotions became erratic again, this time his feet moved faster than his thoughts as he approached the individual, the distance between them decreased in seconds but the lady saw him before he reached her. Her eyes widened in shock, and then fright " don't–don't Come closer" she shouted, her voice trembling. Henri disregarded her words, his feet still moving towards her, a heated mixture of anger and fear dancing in his eyes. "I'm serious...stop....if you come any closer I'll jump." the lady insisted, her eyes now burning with fierce determination. She released the banister, holding onto it with only one finger, while her feet huddled on the steep edge of the roof. She was literally hanging by a single finger. Henri immediately stopped on seeing her actions, desperation and fear clawing at his chest. " Mag.....come down, we can talk this out." his voice was unbelievably soft, vastly different from the cold and capable voice that he was known for. The lady cringed, but was satisfied at his obedience. "Come down? you mean like.....this?"She teased one of her feet leaving the edge and swaying in the air. NO! Henri felt his heart somersault in its place. He should have never brought her to the hospital, he should have called another doctor, he should not have left the room.... There was so many regrets in his heart. "Please don't.....just put your legs back, I'll do anything you want just... please." Hearing his words the lady giggled playful, then placed her feet back,"You'll get me anything I want?" "Yes."he replied faithfully. "Then you'll give me my son right?"she readily asked, her eyes glittering with hope. But Henri felt like his heart had been hit with club and it was battered and bleeding. Her son, Their son. But he was gone, dead. "Mag, he'll be here...soon, just come over. you can't meet your son while in such a dangerous plac–" "Stop! don't call me Mag, I'm not Mag, my name is Marguerite." The lady interrupted hotly, her breathing becoming increasingly unstable. She had once loved that name, cherished even more the only person who called her that—but now it only reminded of the past she had grown to hate. Scared at her reaction, Henri retracted" Yes, yes, you're Marguerite." "So where is my son." she asked offhandedly as if she wasn't hysteric just minutes ago. "Just give me a minute... I'll make a call and he'll be here." "Really." "Yes I promise, Just come over here." He pleaded softly, ready at once to swoop on her if she crosses the banister. She looked as if she was considering it for a moment, as she placed both her hands on the banister, her eyes calm, her expression docile but almost immediately her gaze sharpened, hate swimming in its depth. "You're a liar! you can't fool me! you killed him—you killed my son. My son is dead, how can you bring him to me?You killed him, you crazy bastard, you killed him...." she screamed, her eyes bloodshot, her every words like spikes stabbing into his flesh. Hearing her words, Henri stiffened, like a drenched dog in the rain, his nails digging into his hands. "I–I.... Am sorry, am sorry." he whispered, a lone tear sliding down his chin. "Can your sorry bring him back? f*****g bastard, you deserve to die, you deserve to die, my son doesn't deserve that but you...you did that to him. you–" choked up, the lady turned into a sobbing mess, her cries, heartbreaking. "You can hit me, fight me or..or even kill me. But please, please, Mag–Marguerite just come over first, you can't avenge your son if you're dead." he knew he was cruel for saying that but he had to do everything to stop her, he had reached out to his men, so all he had to do was stall for time. "Come to you so you could cage me like an animal just like before?" the lady suddenly calmed, her blue eyes blank and dead. She looked serene but it made Henri more anxious. Pitch black hair danced in the wind, like soft waves sometimes resting against her pale skin. Blood had stopped dripping, but a red spot from pulling the drip rested on her left wrist. "Am just a coward with no backing, after you destroyed my family's company, I've not seen or spoken to them for two years, how would I even have the power to fight you, that's just wishful thinking. 'you may be crazy but you can't be stupid' that's what you said, remember?" She asked, a thoughtful expression on her face Henri was stifled, he had indeed said that. After watching him in silence for the lady pulled out a blade from God knows where and placed it against her own neck "Anyway that's all gone now..... Mr Henri I believe that I have paid sufficiently for my sins, so it's time we go our separate ways," she muttered as if she wasn't talking so casually about taking her own life. Seeing the blade resting against her throat, Henri had mental breakdown, he didn't even know when his knees touched the ground. "Mag-Marguerite, please stop, we can start anew....w–we'll have a wedding... we'll even have another child, and I'll find your family, I'll give back anything I've taken from them, just don't do this.... don't." he couldn't help but sob, his plans were just settling into place. He just needed time, just a bit more time. but if...if she died before then, what was the use. Staring down at the kneeling man, the lady titled her head, her face expressionless, Her lips moving slowly. "I remember just two years ago how you knelt down to propose to me, I was so elated, the first time ever, Mr Henri has gone on his knees and it was for me......" " You made me feel so special, like all the years I spent seeking for your attention wasn't a waste–But who would have thought it was all an elaborate trap to make me take a step into my nightmare. You took everything from me, my life, my family, my dreams...my child......" She choked on the last word "A-m am sorry. Please, Am sorry, just give me a chance, one last chance. I promise I'll make everything right, just–" The cold CEO was oblivious to his image as tears flowed down his face, his custom made pants stained by the dust. Ignoring his words, the lady continued her speech, a lopsided smile creeping on her face "And here you are, on your knees once again just as I am about to end this nightmare....how poetic." "Bid your fiancee, farewell for me, I wish you guys a not–good life." She concluded, the knife in her hands digging dangerously deep into her skin. Then with a smile still on her face, she dragged the knife across her throat in one smooth motion and in the same time let go of the banister, falling backward. Henri had reacted as fast as possible when he saw her hands moving, but he had still been a step too late, his knees knocked against the rails, the sound painful to the ears, as he stretched his hands desperately, his fingertips missing hers by a few inches. "Marguerite!!!..... Mag!! NOOOO!!!" He could only howl in grief as he watched her fall to her death, the blood from her neck contrasting sharply with her skin and hair, her hospital gown serving as a backdrop It was tragic but beautiful. Marguerite had so many regrets, so many bad choices she wanted to change. But sometimes letting go was the only option. Goodbye Dad. Goodbye Brother. Goodbye Ava. Goodbye Henri Moreau Goodbye...... world. Her eyes dimmed, the light in those blue eyes snuffed out as she reached the ground.
