The two had arrived at Airi’s home, and many of the house’s servants had been waiting outside to greet the visitors.
Crow and Jane walked to the entrance, the servants all bowed in respect.
“Welcome,” they all said in unison.
Crow, from instinct, bowed as well. “I'm, um, glad to be here.
Every servant of the house, both male and female, stood in shock.
Crap, did I do something wrong?
Jane whispered in his ear, “you were just supposed to say ‘pleasure to be here’ not bowing.”
“Oh sorry.” He straightened himself and smiled, “pleasure to be here.”
The male servants smiled back, arms against the doors and opening them.
The female servants stood still, their faces a bit red.
Crow and Jane walked into the mansion, the voices of the female servants whispering behind them.
“He’s a cute one.”
“Do you think he’s a servant of Airi?”
“Would that mean that he’s with Jane?”
“No, there’s no way-”
Jane turned around, “you do realize I can hear you, right? Besides, he’s the one who beat Zexal.”
“What?!” they all exclaimed in unison.
Jane kept walking with Crow.
Straight ahead was a set of double doors, music being played from the other side.
Crow reached out for the door, here it goes.
He opened the doors and walked in. The music came to a halt, and the eyes of many noblemen came to look in his direction.
They all wore dresses and suits without ties.
Crow smiled to himself," Thank goodness, I’m not underdressed.
They all had a glass in their hands, some were drinking and continuing with conversations they had been participating in, others continued to stare at Crow.
“Is that the one?” mutters could be heard.
“There’s no way Zexal was beaten by a kid.”
Crow continued to walk, a servant with a tray full of glasses filled with a red substance stopped him, offering him one of the drinks.
He took it, “thank you.”
The servant smiled at him, “my pleasure,” then walked away.
Crow took a sip, not recognizing the taste, and nearly spat it out, but swallowed instead.
He turned to the noblemen still looking at him, “It’s not bad. What is it?”
A long silence filled the room before one of the noblemen walked forward, answering his question.
“It’s bloodwine. We age the blood a bit by having it sit around in its pouch and eventually mix it with the humans’ wine.”
Crow smiled, “thank you.”
The music began to play again and a nobleman walked towards Crow. The nobleman had short black hair, blue eyes, and pale skin.
“So, is it true that you beat Zexal?”
Crow nodded, “it was pretty difficult.”
Suddenly, a spotlight had turned on, pointing to the stairs. The body lit by the spotlight began walking down the steps.
Her red dress went just below her knees, the top of it gave a view of her chest. Her black hair shined in the spotlight.
Crow was left speechless.
Airi smiled at him from the steps.
She walked gracefully to the bottom of the stairs, meeting Crow.
He reached out his right hand, “May I have this dance.”
She smiled, placing her left hand on his right, “Yes.”
They began to waltz.
Airi smiled at Crow, “I hope they were treating you well.”
Crow smiled back, “they were alright, I got a few stares from many, but it’s alright.”
Airi looked a bit troubled, “yeah, they still are. It’s because we broke tradition.”
Crow laughed a bit, “I think we would’ve broken tradition even if the man you were marrying was a giant asshat.”
“Maybe.”
Crow looked around and noticed that the others had begun to dance as well.
Airi smiled a bit, “looks like you’ve really improved too.”
Crow smiled too, “Well, I had a pretty good teacher.”
He twirled her before pulling her close.
“I didn’t teach you that one.”
“Yeah, I just wanted to try it.”
The two laughed a bit as the music ended.
