The path of a warrior

1095 Words
Taking a walk down a memory lane as she actually takes a stroll through, reminiscing a few days ago, when Ibinabo took Sandy around the Empire with Lady Mildred of course, the kingdom was a beautiful place, and she could almost fall inlove with everything and everyone. The artifacts, the Architectural design of the Empire was almost as beautiful as the kingdom she used to read about in the Bible. Sandra never thought much about the beautiful attributes and lovely sculptures of this realm as she was so much interested in her tour guide more than the Tour. She kept asking Ibinabo questions, personal questions, some that triggered her to silence and some that had to be answered with a stare and maybe a smile, hardly. Sandy's resourcefulness in keeping Information and her zeal for the Art of War kept her dominance in the Empire for the period of days she had been here. She thought about all this as she headed up to the training ground hoping to pass through it without so much to loose. She finally arrived at the camp, there was along fence built around it, it looked like some sort of station in a deserted part of the Empire. There was a small gate to the camp but it was enough to conceal what was going on beyond those walls. She could hear men cheer and glamour from the inside, familiar cheers that brought back memories of the sailors at Sea to her mind. She shrugged and stopped walking, just to recover her composure.  "You must be the new girl, come in"... An average looking guy with brown eyes opened the gate in response to Sandy's knock. She walked in and saw that the guy was covered in mud and reeked of sweat. "Hi, I was asked by the Guard to wait here for the prince, he is to train me in the Art of surviving the Eclipse". Sandy said that with a fixed glance on the faces of the three men who stood before her covered in mud and sweat, with a sword and a shield, obviously training, she was so vain in her utterance that she hoped to get an explanation from them over what it meant to "survive the Ecplise". But she was not lucky enough to get that, instead one of them offered her a drink and told her to wait for the Prince. "He would be with you soon, say why don't you go into the camp house and get ready, there's a girl with red hair in there, her name is Maryann, she would assist you to the female chambers where you can change to something suitable for training, you can't wear this gown of yours to fight, this is actual combat not a pillow fight". He said with a taunting smirk on his face, accompanied with giggled from the other guys beside him. He seemed nice at first but ended up making a joke about Sandy's appearance which actually made her a bit perked up. She walked away without saying "thank you" and went towards an old looking Bungalow right up front but she had to take her time with her steps so she doesn't slip and fall as the Mud was everywhere. She pulled open the door and saw people dressing, preparing like some sort of Valiant warriors dressed in their armoury, she noticed they all had a familiar attire on and that was a dark veil. She wondered what that was all about. Suddenly she felt a soft tap on her shoulders. "Hi you must be the girl The guard talked about, I am Maryann. I am a level2 swordsman, I ll be your personal instructor for today untill the prince returns. Please come with me"..... Sandy couldn't help but notice the crowd in such a small building dressing so hurrily with passion, as she followed Maryann through the different rooms and headed through to the inner chambers where she handed Sandy a strap to for her hair and a black jump skirt and a ripped T-shirt. " Get in these and meet me outside, we are about to travel"... Sandy looked up while unstrapping her hair, " it shouldn't be hard to find you, I will just look for the hair." She said with a smile. " Very well then. I'll be outside." Maryann said and left the room. Sandy sat on the floor and noticed she could see the guys training outside from where she sat through a small hole on the wall. It was a dilapidated room of course and it was just as old as Sandy must have thought. She crawled up further to get a proper view of the guys, and she noticed one of the had sustained an Injury, she really wished it was the rude guy but it wasn't, either ways she was still glad it one of them. Sandy let out a faint scream as she stood up and turned to assess the room only to find Ibinabo standing right beside the door. " What are you doing?, Get in your clothes and get ready for duel". She said as she left the room once more. She didn't seem too happy, maybe one could say as usual but she seemed a bit pissed this time. Sandy didn't say a word, as she now felt like the Guest treatment she received was fading out. She asked to see the Emperor for sometime but she was told she isn't allowed to see him untill he sends for her. Sandy had alot of questions on her mind as she tied her hair back to a pony and tightened her skirts zip in preparation for whatever it is she was about to face. Swiftly a thought came across her mind, She remembered Maryann say something about 'Travelling', and it seemed like a word used often here and she wondered what that was. She would only find out. She took a quick peep back and front in search for anybody, as she recovered her necklace from her socks to confirm it's safety and put it back in it, saying some words, wishing for some kind of goodluck. She stuffed her former clothes beside a wall and her socks and the Necklace on top of a counter right beside her clothes, as she headed fearfully but in a rush towards the training yard to begin the drill. She wanted to learn as much as she could to protect herself. Especially if she wants to get answers by force. .
