" I don't love Lana!" I protested.
Ben just stared at me intently.
" I'm not letting her go." He said, his eyes were actually tearing up now.
I lost all of my anger and frustration then, it just melted away seeing his pain. Knowing he had hurt Joey as did I. We had no true claims on her.
" I don't think you deserve her." I said.
He just nodded quietly as a silent tear spilled over onto his cheek. He didn't bother to hide it.
" I don't deserve her either." I admitted.
We were right back to where we started, both of us stuck...with complicated lives that kept us from being free to be with Josephine Brennan.
" She's going to go for Arturo isn't she?" I said, grinning.
Ben threw back his head and laughed, breaking the sullen mood we had fallen into.
He lay back down
