CHAPTER FIFTEEN July 1, 2010 Late Evening Calvin’s eyelid twitched beneath his palm’s pressure. More coffee would just worsen the symptoms at this point. “Natalie, it’s getting tough for me to do this. I’m tired or weak or something.” She seemed suddenly scornful, or maybe that was pity on her lips. By now, Calvin was keeping his gaze clear of her eyes. In spite of his control’s improvement, he hadn’t been able to hold the reins on his sight whenever it concerned her. “I’m hardly staying awake,” he added. Her lips pressed into a tight line. “Oh. Right. You don’t take the pills yet.” She blew out her breath, waved his next client over to the table, pocketed the money, and told Calvin, “I’ll get more coffee.
