Calvin thought of Percy’s tape recording when Violet said, You’re in more trouble than I thought.
“Cal,” Cleo called across the crowd to him. “Are you okay?”
Before he could reply, Randolf’s voice jabbed his ear.
“You have a brilliant future ahead of you, Calvin. Truly outstanding. Your path may require separation from your sister, but it shall all be for the greater good. You have to trust me on this.”
“Cleo’s not going anywhere,” Calvin said. He looked up. She’d already vanished. It was hard keeping track of people when he was being hauled from place to place. “Where’d she…?”
