We let Benedict and the two guards pass by, hiding silently in the shadows. After about thirty minutes, they came back and left again. Once their footsteps faded completely, Lilet spoke.
"There's something so calm about this place," she said softly.
"Usually, the most dangerous places are calm before they strike," I replied. "So be careful, and keep your focus on the path."
We moved forward, guided only by the faint light from my phone. The sound that had lured us to this hidden passage had vanished, leaving only the echoes of our footsteps to fill the silence.
