Prologue
I slowly peeled my eyes. Everything was in blur. Orange and red lights flickered as I try to stand up. Taking a deep breath and rubbing my eyes, I staggered trying to keep my balance. When I opened my eyes again, a sea of flames was all over the place. The sky was pitch black, there were no stars. Nothing was left in the forest but ashes and burning trees, wrecks and dead bodies. I trembled upon seeing this awful sight. I lifted my hands forward, trembling violently, and found them filled with blood. What’s happening? I asked myself, trying to remember as hard as I can on what just happened. Like a flash of lightning, realization dawned upon me. We had a long and bloody battle. I went on and checked each person lying on the ground, hoping someone might still be alive and breathing. It was until I noticed a trail of blood on the ground. Thinking it could be someone who survived and fled the area, I followed it through. It brought me to a wide area of the forest. No trees, just grasses swaying along the blow of the night breeze. It was eerily quiet and calm, totally opposite to the hell where I just came from. The moon wasn’t obstructed by the trees this time. It just shone majestically on the pitch-black skies. A woman was standing on the edge of the plain, in front of her was a sharp steep cliff. She had a sword tightly held in her hand.  I could only see half of her face. She was just there looking straight to the moon, as the night breeze danced her long crimson hair. As soon as I stepped closer to her, she probably detected my presence and brought her gaze to me. And that’s the moment I realized that half of her beautiful face was covered with blood. She had a lot of blood splats all around her body. Her sword was almost as vividly crimson as her hair, as it bathed with blood. Her gleaming red eyes had a cold stare, that gave me chills down to my spine. She just stared at me, like she doesn’t even care to her surrounding or even me. My chest became tight and my heart went beating faster, as I clench my jaws. My mind singled out to one thought, to kill her! I dashed towards her as I grabbed the hilt of my sword. She didn’t move and was just staring straight to me. Upon getting into distance where I could reach her, I drew my sword and swung it towards her. Without a trace of flinching or surprise, she cleanly blocked my sword with her katana. Sparks sprayed as the two blades collided and locked with each other. I pushed forward with all my might trying to get her off balance. But she just easily pushed and blew me away with just her strength. I embedded my sword, as I crash to the ground trying to hold my balance. My breathing ceased as I realized she was already in front of me. What speed! I didn’t have any time to react, she totally caught me off guard. She lifted her sword and swung it downward to s***h me. I thought that was the end of me right there. I thought that was already the death flag but, it was that moment I didn’t expected. My parents jumped towards me to push me away. And took the direct hit instead of me. I was on the ground, just staring as things began to blur. I couldn’t lift even a single finger. I was powerless. I couldn’t help them, or save them, my parents from their demise. Instead, I just watched, as they fell on their knees and went facedown on the ground together. They died, using their own bodies to shield me from that fatal blow that could have taken me instead. It was unclear but I heard someone screaming. My throat threatens to get teared apart. And I realized it was just me. I was shouting the whole time, crying, facing my parents as I held them in my arms. With the world seemingly slowing down, my voice muffled. Everything was seemingly shaking as I grabbed my sword on the ground and dashed towards the woman. And the darkness came engulfing me.   I shot up from my bed and sat with half of my body up. My breathing was heavy, as I tried catching it. Bullets of sweat were all over my forehead. But what’s more shocking, tears were falling down across my cheeks for no apparent reason other than that dream. I found myself in my room and in my bed. “That dream again huh…” I muttered to myself.
