A Night with the CEO

WELCOME TO NYU

I could not believe I was here, I was standing on the grounds of NYU, my parents had both walked these grounds in their lifetime, I wondered if they felt just as happy as I was feeling right now, I saw countless students walking past me as they walked into the school.

I took a deep breath and said “I am here mum, I finally made it dad and I will make sure to make you both proud. With those words I squared my shoulders and walked in.

Settling in was a little more stressful than I would have thought but I was able to get it done, the last step was when I was given my room key, the woman told me to find room E7 and that was where I went to. It did not take me too long to find it since there were many people on campus willing to show me the way.

By the time I got to my room and unlocked it, I realized I was the first one there and I was glad since I got to choose the corner I wanted, I chose the bed beside the window since it gave me a grand view of the school.

I arranged my little stuff into the cupboard, after paying for my tuition and the other things I needed, also I had given some money to Eleanor to pay the bills and after doing that, I was not left with much to buy clothes and books but I will just have to make do with what I had for now until I got a job.

After I was done fixing my corner, I decided to wait for my roommate to show up, I wondered about the type of roommate I will end up with, I have heard stories of wild roommates who drank and smoked all sort of things, I really did not want to end up with someone like that.

I did not want anything to distract me from my studies, I wanted to focus and then I could graduate with a business degree and then get a good job somewhere, that was my plan and I will make sure to stick to it no matter what.

I woke up to the sound of keys being jingled, I sat up on the bed quickly, I had no idea I had fallen asleep or for how long I had slept but since it was still bright outside, I figured it could not be for more than an hour or so.

The opened and a girl dragging in a giant suitcase walked in, I saw her eyes scan the walls of the room quickly and I could not help but wonder what she was searching for on the walls.

I took the time to study her while her eyes were still absorbed with the walls, she was a gorgeous and had shiny blonde hair and Barbie doll face, she was dressed in blue skinny jeans and a classy white top, a small handbag hung on her arm and even from where I sat on my bed, I could tell it was an original designer back very unlike the knock offs Daisy used to carry around with her.

I decided it was time to pull her out of her intent wall study “Hello” I said with an awkward wave.

My new roommate finally pulled her eyes of the wall and finally settled them on me “Oh hello, I am sorry I did not see you there, I am so glad the entire wall is not filled with posters of Metallica rock bands, I was seriously praying I did not end up with someone who partied like crazy or drank everything alcoholic” she said so quickly.

I smiled at her and said “I was actually praying for the exact same thing, I am glad you are not someone like that, I am Heather by the way, Heather Grahams, nice to meet you” I stood up from the bed and extended my hand for a handshake.

She stepped forward and took it quickly “I am Alicia Sinclair and it is absolutely wonderful to meet you as well”

I smiled, I had a feeling I was going to enjoy my freshman year with a roommate such as this.

Despite my many protests, Alicia had managed to drag me out to explore the campus, I had wanted to explore the slowly during my stay in the school but Alicia was like a child in a candy store for the first time, she wanted everything all at once.

During the time we had spent together, she told me she was born and brought up in New York city, her father is a judge and her mother is a doctor, she is the last of three kids and for some reason she did not want to go far away from home so she came to NYU, her older brothers were both studying law at Oxford while she was hoping to major in fashion and Design since she always had a passion for fashion designing.

I found it all interesting “You must show me your designs sometimes” I said to her with a smile on my face as we headed back to our dorm room.

“Of course I will be happy to show you my designs and I do hope you can model some of my designs for me, I am sure anything will look great on you with a body like yours” she said brightly.

“Thanks for the compliment Alicia” I said with a smile.

“Oh but it’s true, I am sure that body got you all the boys, how many boyfriends have you had? Scores, I am sure” Alicia said with a twinkle in her eyes that hinted at strongly at mischief.

That was usually the first impression people normally had when they saw me but in truth, I had never had a boyfriend before, I was just never interested, I had too many things worry about other than having a boyfriend so I just ignored all the advances from the boys at school and I was later nicknamed as the school snub and I honestly I did not really care as long as they left me alone.

“Sorry to disappoint you Alicia but I have never had a boyfriend before” I said with a smile.

“Oh my God! Why? Were all the boys where you came from blind or something?” she asked, her blue eyes were wide with genuine surprise.

There was something about her that I liked, she was fun and bubbly, this was the first time I was just talking about normal teenage issues with someone my age, Eleanor and I were always busy trying to work and pay the bills so we never had the time to bother discussing boys.

I simply shrugged and said “Maybe”

“Well we are in college now and the possibilities are endless, we will all the boys at our feet” Alicia said with a look of determination on her face.

I laughed and thought I was really going to enjoy my freshman year without a single doubt.

Augustine’s POV

I was in my office getting some work done when the door opened and Linda sashayed in wearing a dress that had no business being in worn in a business establishment, it was a black sleeveless, form fitting gown that went below her knees but had a long slit running all the way up to the middle of her thigh. Her heels clicked loudly against the floor with each step she took.

Her black hair came flowing to her shoulders in waves, she had a bright smile on her as she sashayed over to my table.

“Darling, I have missed you so much” she said as she turned around the table and placed a kiss on my lips. I just barely managed to return the kiss.

She pulled away with a smile and then sat on the table and crossed her long legs.

“What are doing here Linda?” I said as I turned my attention back to my computer screen.

“I thought it was rather obvious, I missed you so I came to pay you a visit at work” she drawled and played with collar with her long fingers.

I could not believe I was expected to make this woman my wife, as in the mother of my children, I could not even stand her, she was too loud and her personality was the nastiest I had ever come across.

“Thanks for visiting me Linda but I have a lot of work to do, I will drop by your house after work, maybe we can have dinner or something but I have I lot of work to do right now” I said without looking at her, my eyes were fixed on the file I was trying to read.

Her long fingered had found their way to my shirt button and were trying to open it “You are always busy, you never have time for me, I have been back to back to New York for a week now and this is the second time I am seeing you” Linda whispered as she leaned closer to me. Her fingers had managed to pop the button they had been fiddling with.

I was intentionally avoiding her, we had gone to dinner a day after she arrived, courtesy of August, and she had splashed her glass of wine on our server because her salad was not fresh enough for her.

I had ignored her for the rest of the night but she was not bothered by it, she simply chatted away till I finally dropped her off at home.

“I do have time for this right now Linda because I am busy, go home and I will see you later in the evening” I said.

“I do not want to go home, I want to hang out with you” she whispered against my ear as her hot breath fanned my cheeks.

I knew what she was getting at and I had to stop her quickly, she had problem trying to seduce me right here and now, she had no concern whether or not it was an office or a bedroom, anywhere with a flat surface was good enough for her.

I stood up from chair very quickly and faced her with a smile that I had to force for the situation at hand “I am so sorry darling, I really need to get this done right now, I promise I will make it up to you later” I said and placed a kiss on her lips and pulled away before it got too deep.

She seemed like she was good with that because she smiled and said “Fine I will wait for you at home, have fun with your boring work, I think I will go to the spa or something”

“Yes you should do that, I will see you later” I said as she stood up from the table and placed a quick kiss on my lips before she sashayed out, her heels sounding loudly as she walked away.

I fell to my chair with a loud exhale, I was really beginning to think of a way out of this damned engagement, I could not even stand to be same room as her so how on earth was I supposed to spend my entire life with her?
