The Bloody Wedding Veil
The sky over the silver cliff was pitch black, torn apart only by the jagged streaks of lightning. Rain lashed down mercilessly, soaking Seraphina’s white lace wedding gown until it felt like a heavy, cold shroud.
"Adrian! Stop! You’re hurting me!" Seraphina cried out, her voice trembling.
Adrian, the man she had called her husband only three hours ago, didn't loosen his grip. He dragged her toward the edge of the cliff, his face twisted into a mask of pure greed. Gone was the gentle lover who had proposed to her in a garden of roses.
"The only thing hurting you, Seraphina, is your own stupidity," Adrian hissed, his voice cold as the grave.
He pulled out a crumpled piece of paper—the inheritance documents she had signed right after the ceremony. "You were so desperate for love that you didn't even read what you were signing. All your father’s billions, the Malhotra empire, the private islands... they are all mine now."
Seraphina’s breath hitched. "I... I loved you, Adrian. I gave you everything!"
"And I used you for everything," he sneered, leaning closer to her ear. "Did you really think a man like me would fall for a pathetic, naive girl like you? You were just a stepping stone."
With a sudden, violent shove, he pushed her. Seraphina’s heels skidded on the wet mud. For a second, time seemed to slow down. She saw the flash of Adrian’s wedding ring—the same one she had bought for him—as he let her go.
"Goodbye, Seraphina. Die in peace knowing I’ll spend your money well with someone I actually love."
Seraphina screamed as she plummeted into the dark void. The wind ripped her wedding veil away as she crashed into the freezing, turbulent ocean below. The impact felt like a thousand knives piercing her skin.
As the salt water filled her lungs and she began to sink into the abyss, her fear suddenly turned into a burning, white-hot rage.
If I survive this... she vowed, her eyes snapping open under the dark water. I will become the devil you never saw coming. I will take back my name, my life, and I will make you beg for the mercy you didn't show me.
The naive Seraphina died in the ocean that night. But something else was about to be born.
