Her Power
The water was crystal, it was warm. It’s the special day of the week, I walked along the sore, barefoot. Planning for my college, the breeze of the northern winds was refreshing. I kept on pacing, thinking where will I spend my college days. I have no friends, and nothing to be proud of. I’m just a student who don’t excel in any academic or extracurricular activity. This day, we will be leaving Rockwell, together with my mom. I’ve already packed my stuffs. Books, and my paintings. I was waiting for her to say goodbye to my aunt. Well, Aunt Milyn wanted us to stay but mom got herself a new job at the Plague’s Restaurant in NewCi City. It’s been minutes but she’s still inside. I knew that we have to leave as soon as possible. The flight’s nine thirty and it already 9 o’ clock. I walked back to the house, the bags were still on the front door where I leaved it. I knocked and shouted mom’s name. No response. Out of my curiosity, I entered. It was a mess, the couch was upside-down, vases were broken, and the chandelier were scattered on the floor. I was palpitating, hands were shaking. I called her name again but I hear no sound. Not at all. Tip-toeing, silently walking towards the telephone. I punched the emergency number, making no noise when I heard a crack. The noise that I didn’t even made, I turned and saw a guy wearing tux and a sun glasses. He was all black. “Don’t move!” I shouted as I dropped the phone and took a broken glass and aimed it to him. He grinned and took his sunglasses. It was clear, his eyes. My sight was stuck on his eyes. Hypnotizing me, I dropped the glass and walked towards him. My mind knew that I shouldn’t but it was in contrast of my body. I was moving toward him. “What are you!?” I cried. “I’m like you,” he replied. I tried to restrain, forcing my strength to stop him controlling me but it was no use. Tears were running on my cheeks; I have no idea what to do. Forcing my body to restrain his manipulative control, I shouted within the deepest strength that I’ve gathered. BOOM! The pipes burst, waters were flying and dancing. It was moving on its own. It’s no ordinary water, but a living water. The burst made me wobble on the floor, stunned by the sight I saw. “I ain’t scared of you, better stop that girl,” he said. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.” “The water, you i***t,” he shouted, “stop it!” Crying was the only thing that I did, I have no idea what he was talking. The water was so still, waiting for any command. It was odd. This man thought that I control the water? But how? The odd events that was happening now made me confused. I clutched my hands controlling my fear. “Where’s my family?” I asked. “ You’re not goin’ to use your magic, are yah?” he said grinning. I have no idea what he was talking about. I’m worried, my mom and aunt Milyn. This game must have to end. I never thought this thing would happen. We lived in with tranquility. I’ve never been in trouble, but this event was not inevitable to such girl like me. I was looking at him when the room became dark. The shadows were moving covering the whole place. Anxiety were found on his face. “I knew you’re here, Hunter,” he said. “Let her go,” it was a voice of a guy. “She’ll be with us! You can’t hide forever in that shadow.” The whole place was embraced with darkness, I saw nothing. But then, out of the darkness their was light. It's not hot but it’s too shiny. “Let her go!” A girl, it is a girl – I thought. “Luna! The moon’s twin!? I’m not through with you. You blinded me and I’m gonna kill you.” “You’ve destroyed me so I’ll destroy you and your plan” “Naaaah!” Everything was fast, I saw nothing but flashes of light moving in the darkness. I sat on the floor wanting to moved. Then, someone held my hand, with my full strength I punched it. “Ouuch! What’s that for? It’s ma face,” the guy said. “WHO ARE YOU!?” I cried. “We’re not the bad guys, okay. We’re here to help, I’m Luke,” he said and held my hands again. “I don’t trust any of you, don’t touch me.” “We’re here to help, okay. HELP. Now, if you want to face Mr. Voodoo-voodoo, you have to be more powerful than him. And Madam Binukot could help you. I promise.” “Less talk, MOVE!” I heard the girl shouted so I stood up and ran not knowing where to do. “Here, I’ll hold you,” and I felt his hand grip on mine. It was cold and soft and we ran in the darkness. * * * I wasn’t expecting these kind of things. My life – my normal life were ruined. It just happened like a bolt. And how could I response to these kind of things. I lie on the floor, crying. I have no idea what had happened. And then there’s this guy whose been corrupting my mind with these silly fantasies. Though, I didn’t have time to listen , he’s always been narrating all these childish stories. I didn’t know whether or not to believe him. But the event was not a dream, it was real. Trying to relieved my anxiety I shouted as loud as I could, until the pain will loosen its gripped. It’s been days and I was still drowned by the events. I was in a room, lying in bed all day. They visited me, always. They brought foods and clothes. They told me everything but I didn’t have the guts to listen. I lost my mom and my aunt, and it was my fault.
