Emily Harper Cody took a deep breath and wiped away the emotions on his face. In a blink, he was smiling again, as though I did not just rain on his parade. "Well, Miss Harper," he said, still smiling like some venomous predator. "I was just about to present to the board what I have worked hard on for the past few weeks." "And what would that be?" I asked, gazing around the room. There were other people in the board meeting who weren't members of the McMillan Group. I knew exactly that they were from the Wyatt Group, but I asked Cody nonetheless. "Another merger bid," he said, chuckling.
