CHAPTER 1
"Where's Aria? Is she late again?"
A short lady with blonde hair and pretty skin roared angrily as she walked to the front desk of the mall.
Aria hurriedly rushed inside the mall, and stood just behind her in a sad and grumpy state. She sighed quietly and stood stiff in her tracks looking ahead and the figure whose back was against her.
Her boss, ask her colleagues about her, she felt her knees go jittery, she will be going through another round of punishments this time. He stomach rumbled in fear, her heart raced a bit, anxiety set in, her hands went shaky and cold.
She managed to escape the last one through an hair's breadth.
She was very late that day as well but luckily for her the boss wasn't around and hadn't been to the mall till later that day.
They were speechless and looked straight ahead at something else, staring at it intently.
"What's that?" she noticed when their facial expressions were somewhat not coordinated.
"She's here" one of her colleagues announced.
She breathed in and let it out before summoning the courage to walk up to face her directly, since she was behind her all that while.
Her boss looked at her with fury and sighed in anger.
She bent her head, avoiding her eyes.
"Half of your salary will be deducted, and don't plead" she announced and walked few places away without letting her explain. She stopped and turned to look at her again.
"You are going to serve 90% of the customers we will be having today alone also,be prepared. Tracy will be leaving earlier than usual"
She added before her figure withered out of sight.
"Ma'am" Aria attempted to call out for plea but she had already left. She sighed and walked to where she usually kept her bag.
"I'm sorry, Amanda" one of her colleagues said.
"It's fine, I go through worse things than this to survive" Aria smiled dryly, trying so hard not think about it.
She had to accept her fate. It wasn't her fault. She had lots of work to do at home, basically she was treated like a maid which made her slack at work.
It had become a routine since she came of age and was old enough to be called an adult.
She was thinking about the money which had been deducted from her salary which was barely enough
How much would be left?she wondered.
It wasn't easy trying to survive. Lily had parents, a drunk father and a beautiful mother yet she worked like she had no one. It seemed like her parents closed her eyes to her immediately she turned 18. Practically, she was living with he parents but it felt like she was staying alone. On top of that, her dad made sure she worked hard at home before letting her out of the house which ended seeing her late to work.
Aria sighed and sniffed. She had to stop the tears before it came out
She went to the warehouse to change into her sales working outfit after which she went to her stand.
It seemed like the day was just against her. Customers started coming in massively.
Since Tracy heard that she would be allowed to leave earlier than usual. She relaxed more often, pushing most of the work for Aria.
Coincidentally, the manager purposely called Tracy to handle other things before letting her leave just like she had ordered.
Not like Aria had anyone to complain to, since it was her punishment.
She sighed and continued serving swiftly.
The only way to think she would do to relieve herself would be to stop at Lily's place after work and have some fun.
After finishing her work,it was already late in the night.
She walked down to Lily's house. She dumped herself on the sofa and sighed heavily.
Lily had heard the door open and came out to see who was around because the footsteps were barely heard.
"You're back already" Lily called out seeing her on the sofa like it was normal but twirled around the next minute like she had seen a ghost and asked
"What brings you here rather than your house,it's late."
"Can you just let me rest stop bugging me with questions, i'm tired" Aria answered lazily in tiredness.
"What is it this time?" Lily asked in a soft tone. She grabbed a seat nearby, she felt like she had something on her mind. This was unlike the cool, calm, cheerful, happy and free side of her.
"I went late again today. I ran out of luck, my salary has already been slashed." Aria replied grumply, still laid like a log of wood with her eyes closed.
"Oh dear! Didn't I warn you? Now see." Lily couldn't help but got angry tho she felt sad for her.
"I just feel like I'm working another person is reaping" she opened her eyes and complained with a painful expression
"I'm just tired" she sniffed.
"No come on, it's okay you will be fine"
Lily moved closer to her and tried to comfort her. She brought her face close to her chest and engulfed her in a warm hug while she was sniffing.
Suddenly, Lily wriggled hto lose herself from Aria's grip and tried to be cool.
"Look, enough of all this okay? I can't just sit here and do the pity game, Is there anywhere we could go out and party? You need a break"
Lily shouted hysterically, she sounded like a bird that had just been released from the cage.
"Something like what?" Aria watched her in depression. She glared at her like she was her problem.
She couldn't imagine doing anything than sleep in such a state as this.
Lily curved slightly as she watched her . She really wanted to snap her out of that mood and she knew what exactly to do.
Aria was such a sweet kid that didn't deserve all things that came her way.
“Aria, you're not sleeping on this" Lily shrieked.
Aria had already started dozing due to the stress of the day. She weakly kept her eyes open.
"Uhhhhm,I saw one somewhere this afternoon. I was thinking if you might want to try."
"Where?" She muttered looking sleepy.
“Oh come on, you’re going to love it. You need to crawl out of that shell around you, you have been a good girl for too long”
She chirped rather excitedly and smiled.
“We're going to a club” she dropped the bomb
“Club? Hell no! I think i’m comfortable in this shell of mine”
Lily pulled her hair, almost going crazy, trying to make her see reasons why she should have fun and forget her problems.
“I'm only telling you to go out a little just for today, I want you to experience a little fun which you had been missing for awhile now please,”
she pleaded, staring deeply at her”.
“I can't, Lily. I can't…” Aria said
“Aria!”
Lily suddenly called out startling her.
“You are going clubbing with me and that's final” she said with a commanding tone.
“Lily you can't just decide how I live my life,” Aria said.
“I'll go get your clothes ready, Lily muttered, ignoring what Aria just said.
“I'm not going anywhere” Aria yelled.
