Gab's New School
No one has ever told us, students the real nature of being a high-school student, thus, everything happening in here is extra dramatic, and extra fast. And the most fun but shittiest part is that everything and everyone can say "it's just part of growing up."       It really has been a haggard day, lifting this, lifting that, carrying this and that. And imagine traveling on land for five hours without even a stop, since my mom really wants to be on time within the five hours. She said five hours isn't really five hours when traveling for five hours. Ugh, I hate this family so much, but actually on second thought, I love it.   Well, I have been enrolling on too many schools since summer break started because there are too many things happening in my past school and I don't want to get involved there anymore. Yes, maybe that is my reason for transferring schools.   "Gab! Honey, grab these books of yours and that would be the last thing before you arrange your new room." Mom said.   Releasing a sigh before I finally pick up my books, why are there so many books in this school? Does every student learn this many things? Do they even need this at all? Or we? Maybe, I shouldn't have transferred here in the first place because look at my handbooks, I can feel the pressure already!   "Honey, please pick up a little bit of speed while arranging your books you haven't got all day plus, you even have to attend today's orientation with other students, remember."   "Yes mom." I sighed so loud again that my dad heard it loud and clear.   "Come on baby, maybe we shouldn't force him to pick up his pace, you know what happened last time." My dad paused before turning to me. "You know what? It’s okay Gab, you could take whatever time you want, who cares about Mom, right?" Dad said, with Mom already having a not-pleased look in her face.   "Okay, mom and dad." I broke the silence before this would break into a fight between them, gosh adults, "You can now leave, let me just settle myself within today and you know I can do it without you, so please come on pack up."   They both agreed.   "I guess we'll leave you here," she sighed, "oh my god, my baby is now an adult." Mom fake cried.   "Okay, no need for the fake tears come on, let’s get out." I said to the both of them.   Dad laughed and gestured for us to go out. While going down the hallway on my dorm, I see a group of guys laughing and jokingly punching each other, they are kind of noisy not going to lie, but what catches my eye is this guy, kind of sophisticated, kind of handsome, okay, not really my type but could also be. But he seems to have a lot of friends, he also seems to be the leader of the group, good for him. Which leads me to a thought, will I be able to fit in a group like that? Again?   Suddenly, I pushed down my thoughts as we continue to descend the building and walk my parents out of my school. You could really feel the university-ness in here since there are so many students walking around with no uniforms, some are wearing the school jersey, some aren't. I admired the life I was about to have in this university, I am kind of nervous but also excited as we reach the parking lot where my father parked the car earlier. After saying goodbyes, kisses, hugs, finally walking them out, I checked my schedule for today.   "Well, what do I have here?" I checked the paper that the registrar gave me earlier before entering the school premises. It says here that I have a school orientation... getting to meet a few schoolmates?   Kind of fishy, but I guess these things are normal at these universities, huh. So, while I find somewhere I could relax and settle a bit, let me have a recap of why Gab transferred schools, and why is it so far. So, I live far away from this university, obviously, because I've had some issues with my old school. I chose to live here too and be an independent individual like everybody in this school does. Since this is a university, almost everyone at the dorms are college students, since I’m only at my third year of high-school, it was hard to fit in the dorms and find a slot since every college student wants a slot. We kind of raised the money and voila, a dorm.   Well, the university has some nice points, it has nice air, talking sound of the people, which for me is very relaxing. I sat at one of the benches near the field, weird placing of benches though, I thought. As soon as I sat down, the speakers rang.   "All students at the university are required to gather and report at the school's gymnasium for the start of school orientation. Whether you went in this orientation before or not, you are required to attend the said event."   I released a big sigh, and bit my lip as I get up again after a second of listening to the announcement. Just where is the gymnasium?   "You lost?" Someone said behind me.   "Oh f**k. You startled me, sorry." I almost shouted.   "No, its fine, I'm the one who should be sorry." The guy in front of me laughed.   "So, uh, yeah, I am kind of lost here. Are you a student here?" I asked with a respectful tone since I don't know his age.   "I'm a senior here, name is Sean, Andre's best-friend." He introduced.   "I'm a junior, name is Gabriel, call me Gab. But who is Andre?" I asked again, politely.   "Oh, you don't know Andre? Almost everyone in this school knows him, even before they attend here, seriously."   "No, I'm not really familiar with him sorry." I said, and he looked puzzled and I gestured that we should walk towards the gymnasium now, which surprisingly, he understood.   "I thought I saw you earlier, you were walking with your parents, is that your parents?" Sean asked.   "I don't even remember you walking past by me… Oh that group, the noisy ones." I said carelessly.   "That's kind of harsh to say on our first meeting, don't you think?" He said jokingly, but my ass taking it seriously.   "Sorry, oh my gosh I shouldn't have said that." Before I even finished my sentence, he laughed hard and we were already getting looks as he was laughing too hard in front of me.   "Hey, I was joking, even a kid could tell I was joking. Seriously, you're just like I imagined." He continued laughing.   "S-sorry it was just a past me thing. But huh, imagining me already? Kind of suspicious." I chuckled a bit as I bit my lip and scratched the back of my neck.   We walked and walked and walked as he introduces me to the school and me just listening, until I'm panting and out of breath.   "Just how far is this f*****g gymnasium?" I asked.   "In front of you, Gab. You see, you can't live in here when you have weak stamina, or a car." He explained.   "Which one are you?" I asked.   "I’m both." He scuffed.   "Then why are we walking?" I asked back.   "Have you asked me earlier?" He replied.   "It’s not like I have to impose, uhm it’s our first meeting and you're a senior and you're tall and handsome come on, imagine the pressure." I hauled back.   "Okay, we're here!" He cut my words, and walked inside the gymnasium, and my ass following him. I look like a small bean beside him, I kind of like it though. He said something to me but I didn't hear it since it was kind of noisy inside the gymnasium.   "Gab, Is it fine if you'd sit in our group?" He looked and asked me.   Suddenly all the flashbacks and fear came onto me. My throat got dry, the same time as my lips. My energy was suddenly drained, heartbeat became faster than usual.   "Gab, You there? You seem pale. Do you just want to sit there at the bench for juniors? Beside me?"   I just nodded, didn't have the energy open my mouth. I saw him signal his group of friends, kind of feeling sorry, but why? Why does he want to stay with me and not with his cool friends? An hour hasn’t even passed since we’ve met.    "Sorry, Sean you can go to your friends wh-why? And won't you get scolded this line is for juniors." I stuttered.   "You? Your cute. Me? Don't worry about me, worry about yourself, you were kind of trembling when I mentioned about friends." He said and didn't even spare to look at me, he just straight up looked at the stage where the principal started saying words and because of him it came to a point that I couldn't even comprehend what the principal is saying.
