The next morning
We got to the pack house which is also the Alpha’s house. His Luna answered the door. She was a lovely lady. She reminded me of Mama V. Kind and heart warming smile. She showed us to the meeting room/office. Alpha Mark and his Beta, Andrew, were waiting for us. Luckily, they too were kind men. The meeting went great and we were out of there in just a couple of hours.
We all shook hands and we left. A sigh of relief came over me once we were in the SUV.
“Did you s**t your pants, baby Gio?” Sam joked.
“Ha-ha. Very funny smartass.” I quipped. “I’m just glad that’s done. Now we can have a little fun.”
“You weren't having fun sweating bullets back there?” he wisecracked.
“Well, look at you being the comedian of the day.” I replied sarcastically.
We got back to the hotel to put some casual clothes on. Then to find somewhere to eat lunch and celebrate. The hotel clerk had suggested the Diner around the corner. The guys and I agreed that was fine and we headed that way. As we were walking up to the door, a beautiful smell of lavender hit me as if I were in a meadow full of them.
I thought maybe Sam smelled it too because we looked at each other and asked “Do you smell that?”
He said he smells an ocean breeze and mint.
We walked in and looked around. Sure enough there she was… ‘MATE!’ More like, there they were. Sam and I both growled then looked at each other shocked.
“Who?” I asked.
“ There on the right. With the sun blonde hair. You?”
“Left of her. The beauty with black hair.” I looked back at Sam and it was as if we read the other's mind. We both stepped toward our mates.
Dominique’s POV
When we got back to the cabin last night Josie said she wanted to go to town today. She wanted to visit a couple of the small shops there. She was going to buy something for Jen. I think I will too if I see anything I like.
We got ready and headed to town. I parked in front of a little boutique. Since the town was so small we could just walk everywhere else from there.
There were people walking on the sidewalks and sitting on benches in front of shops. It was a cute little town. We visited the boutique first and then 2 more places before going to a little Diner to have lunch.
We went in, sat down at a table to the left of the entrance. We sat next to each other and ordered some food. While we waited for the food I was looking around the inside. It kind of made you feel like you were back in the 50’s.
Big black and white tile floors. Baby blue booths and a few tables. And everything had a metal trip around it. Old style mini jukeboxes at each table and a big one on the far wall by the bathrooms. Then I saw a few tall men walk in and they started talking in the doorway. Next thing I hear… “MATE!”
I looked at Josie and asked. “Did you just say ‘Mate’?”
“Yes, there!” she said, pointing with her hand on the table.
“Are you sure?”
“Yes.”
Josie kind of explained the Mate thing to me a couple years ago when I found out she was a werewolf. I’m glad humans don’t have Mates predetermined for us. Or so I thought, because the next thing I noticed was the 2 tall men that were at the door were now right in front of us.
“Mate!” both spit out and then asked to sit with us.
“Yes!” Josie said. She answered so fast I don’t even think she realized she answered.
I grabbed her arm and said “NO.”, but it was to late. They were already sitting down.
The third guy just went off and sat at a booth in the corner. I was thinking these guys are rude to interrupt us and leave their friend hanging like that. I could see that Josie was now Love struck so I felt that I needed to say something to these two jerks.
“I’m sorry but we’re having a girls lunch today.” I said in the rudest yet nicest way I could.
“Mate.” The man across from me said.
I just looked at him funny and asked “What?” Surely he doesn’t think I’m his mate. I’m not even a werewolf. I’m a witch. Can that even happen? I asked myself.
Don’t get me wrong. He was gorgeous. He was tall, at least 6’, mouth watering muscles on his dark tan skin, black wavy hair and Emerald eyes that I almost got lost in. He put the saying tall, dark and handsome to shame.
The guy in front of Josie was just as cute. A hair taller than his friend, muscular, but with light skin, blue eyes and light brown hair.
“I’m sorry but you must be confused.” I told him.
“No. You are my mate. My name is Giovanni. And yours my lady?”
“Dominique. And this is my friend Joselynn.”
“Joselynn. Beautiful name.” I heard the other guy say.
“Ya. And we’re trying to have lunch.” I told them tartly.
“His name is Samuel.” Giovanni says.
“Samuel. Such a nice name.” Josie says right after.
“OK! What is happening here?” I say while snapping my fingers in front of everyone's face.
As everyone came back down to Earth, they all looked at me and said “What?”
“I think we need to get our food to go.” I said.
“But they’re our mates.” Josie replied.
“Let's talk about this at the cabin.” I argued, looking around.
“That’s a great idea.” Giovanni says.
“I wasn’t talking about you.” I muttered to myself.
The guys ordered some food and paid for all of it. Like that’s gonna change my mind. They told their friend they’d be back at the hotel later. We got our food and walked to my car. I saw Giovanni’s mouth drop when he seen it.
“Like it?” I asked him.
“Beautiful like the owner.” he replied.
“Well, ain’t you a smooth talker?” I retorted.
I unlocked the doors and we all got in. I look over and, of course, Giovanni is in the front seat next to me. Sigh! I dropped the top down and drove to the cabin. They made small talk until we pulled up to the cabin. Once there we all went inside and sat down at the table to hopefully eat and get this ‘MATE’ thing out of the way. That way Josie and I can get back to training and enjoying our trip.
Samuel’s POV
No one really talked much while we ate. Everyone just kind of looked at their mates, except Dominique. She was looking at everyone. I don’t think she feels it. I feel bad for Gio if she doesn't and rejects him. He’ll be torn along with his wolf, Roman. I know Xavier, my wolf, would be heartbroken if Joselynn rejects us.
When I noticed that Joselynn had finished eating, I signaled her with my head to leave the table, so that we may talk just the two of us. She nodded and followed me to the sofa. We sat down next to each other and I put my hand on hers. It felt amazing to feel her warm soft skin on mine. My wolf was going wild and fighting me for control. I think the same thing was happening to her. I could see her eyes changing from hazel green to a baby blue and back again.
“What’s his name? Your wolf.” she asked. I’m sure noticing my eyes as well.
“Xavier. And yours?” I asked back. All I could really hear was my wolf yelling “She wants us. She’s asking for me.” I told him to calm down.
“Snow.” She said with a smile.
Her smile and their names warmed my heart and made Xavier purr like a little kitten.
“Your names are as beautiful as you are.” I said charmingly.
She giggled a little and that only made Xavier purr more. I could tell she would be a great Luna for my pack. Beautiful, kind and caring.
“Will you come back with us to my pack?” I asked.
She closed her eyes for a moment. Maybe to talk with her wolf. I couldn’t tell. When she opened them she put a smile on her face then looked at her friend. Her friend had gotten up from the table and was going down the hall. She stood up and apologized. She then went after her friend.
I stood up and looked at Gio.
“What did you do?” I furiously asked him.
“Nothing!” He argued. “All I said was that she was my mate and that I wanna spend more time with her. And then she got up and left.”
“Oh no!” I thought. She’s going to reject him and since she’s Joselynn’s friend, Joselynn will reject me. I heard my wolf whimper at that thought. “Stop her!” He cried.
