Dom’s POV
Giovanni tells me I’m his mate again and that he would like more time with me. He put his hand on mine and I felt something with it that I’ve never felt before. Honestly, it kind of freaked me out. So I got up from the table without a word and went to my room. I sat on the bed and Josie walked in after me.
“What’s wrong?” she asked.
“I don’t know what to think about all this. I’m only 18 and you know I've never really had a boyfriend. I want to be free. Not tied down. Having some guy think that I'm his property. Or Mate. Thinking he can tell me what to do. I won’t do it.” I said, trying to stand my ground.
“That’s not what a mate is, Dom. A mate is the person that will be with you though everything. Not hold you back. They’re the ones that will always make you smile even when you’re sad or mad. The warmth and electricity that you’ll feel from your mate is amazing and always makes you want more.” Josie said, with passion as she looked at her hand, then frowned.
Is that what I felt at the table when Giovanni touched my hand and asked for more time with me. I thought it was static electricity and butterflies.
“They want us to go to the pack with them.” Josie announced.
“To what? Kidnap us.” I wisecracked, with big eyes and eyebrows raised. Also a little hand gesture at her.
“No silly.” she said laughing. “To live there with them. Maybe. If we like it.”
I gave her a ‘it’s a bad idea’ look. And like clock work, here comes the puppy dog eyes. Literally. She closed her eyes and when she opened them they were baby blue. Snow always could get me to say ‘Yes’.
With a straight face I told her, “I hate you right now.” They both knew what that meant. I was giving in.
Josie jumped up and screamed “Yay!”
“Be quiet! They’ll hear you!” I whisper yelled. Sigh!
We walked out of the room and back into the opened living/dining room area. The guys were at the table in the dining room. Josie told them that we will go with them to their pack. The boys’s faces lit up like Christmas lights with big smiles. Then they looked at each other like they were gonna talk but didn't say anything. I think they were mind talking or whatever they call it. They looked back at us with smiles.
“We’ll follow you in my car the day after tomorrow. OK?” I told them.
Everyone agreed. Josie and I agreed that they could stay for dinner and that I would cook something. Though I wasn't sure what yet. Josie asked if I wanted help but I told her no and to sit with the boys and get to know them better. For the both of us. I trust Josie and her opinion.
I went to the kitchen and started getting things out. I decided to make salads, chicken alfredo and homemade garlic bread. I started on the chicken first. Then Giovanni came over to the island bar and started talking to me.
“Hey.” He said cautiously.
I said “Hey,” back with a smile so that he knew I was ok with him being there.
“I wouldn’t do that to you, you know.” He added.
“What?” I said confused.
“Hold you down or hold you back.” he said.
I gave him a funny look. Did they hear us talking? I know werewolves have great hearing but… “Rude! Were you eavesdropping earlier?” I huffed.
“Not exactly. Plus Joselynn said something to me just now.”
I turned to give her a dirty look. Really Josie. I just sighed.
“Look, I can’t be your mate. I’m not a werewolf. I’m a witch.”
It looked like he was a little shocked that I said I was a witch but not the werewolf. Which I’m pretty sure he already knew. I think he thought I was just a normal human. He walked around the island. Looking at me in the eyes the whole time. He put his arm around my waist and pulled me in close to him. My body about melted into his. It was just like Josie said. Warm and electrifying. We both closed and opened our eyes, but now his were different. They weren’t that Emerald green anymore they were a light brown.
“Hello Dominique. My name is Roman. I’m Giovanni’s wolf. Don’t be scared. He is still here with us. I want you to know that I do not care if you are a witch. I will love you no matter what.” and with that he closed his eyes and opened them again. But now they were emerald again.
I’m pretty sure the look on my face was one of ‘what the f**k just happened’ because that was exactly what I was thinking.
“I’m so sorry Dominique. He wanted to talk to you at least once, if you were to reject us later. Well, we would be heartbroken. Literally. We would feel an awful pain for a long time.” he said sadly and hugged me a little tighter.
“I’m sorry. You’re gorgeous. I’m nothing special. Why would you want me as your mate?” I honestly asked.
“You are beautiful to me. I love your spicy attitude and heartfelt honesty. Also, the way you take control. That’s why you’re my mate and I really want to get to know you more and for you to know us more.” He told me with a sparkle in his eyes.
All I could say was “OK.”
My breath hitched when he brought his face down to mine.
He kissed my nose and asked to help. And again all I could say was ‘OK.’
He let me go and went to wash his hands. Did he just make me tongue tied, along with the warm butterflies? What was happening? I tried to just shake it off.
We finished cooking dinner and sat down to eat. We talked about how Josie and I met, but left out the part about her being a rare white werewolf and the rogue alpha that wants her, and how we found out about each other. Then the boys told us about them, their families and the pack. They said that the pack was a pretty big one and that they have many allies. The pack here now included.
When we were done I told Josie and Sam they had to do the dishes, since Gio and I cooked.
Giovanni laughed, “Sam doing dishes! He’s the Alpha.”
Sam hit Gio’s arm and he stopped laughing with a “Hey.”
“So? We’re here, not at your home. We’re not his servants.” I said, crossing my arms.
“He means no disrespect. And I would never think of you ladies or anyone that way. I’d love to do the dishes with Josie.” Sam said, trying to apologize for Gio.
Josie smiled at Sam. Gio apologized to me for his words. I, however, did not smile. I got up while Josie and Sam cleared the table.
I went outside. I’ve always loved the night time. Seeing the moon and stars out. I walked over to the railing on the porch and looked up. Giovanni followed and stood beside me.
“What kind of witch are you?” He asked.
“The self-taught kind.” I replied dryly.
He chuckled. “No, I mean what kind of magic do you have?”
I whispered some words into my hands and threw them up in the air. A few moments later it was snowing. “Most of the magic I can do is with water, but I can do other stuff too.”
“Wow, that's so cool.” he said, when he seen the snow. “Show me more, please.”
I pulled out my phone and looked at what time it was, 9:42p.m. I told him “OK. Hold my hand.” I felt tingling when he did. We walked over to the cabin door. “Close your eyes and walk through the door with me after I open it.” I opened the door and we went through. When we were on the other side I told him, “Open your eyes.”
When he did, he saw that we were in the diner from earlier today. His eyes bulged out of his sockets in shock. He turned to me and said, “How did you do that?”
I giggled and had a big smile on my face. I turned around and told him, “Close your eyes again and we'll go back to the cabin.” So he did and we went through the door. When he opened his eyes we were back on the porch of the cabin.
He picked me up in a hug and twirled me around. “You're an amazing woman.”
“I'm still learning how to control it. Some things, like that, take a lot of energy out of me.” With that, I told him “It’s probably time to go to bed. Do you want to stay for the night in my room…” I said with a mischievous smile. "...With Sam. I’ll sleep with Josie in her room." The smile he once had on his face quickly turned into a half frown. I laughed at him. We went into the cabin and told Josie and Sam. They agreed and we called it a night.
When we got into Josie’s room she looked at me with the biggest smile.
“What?” I asked.
“Nothing,” she said, giggling, “So,… What happened outside with you and Giovanni?”
“Nothing,” I replied. Looking back with a big smile. “Good night.”
She just giggled and turned out the light. We both fell asleep shortly after.
