Under The Starry Sky

Chapter 4

*A Few Hours Later*

"Ugh, I'm so hungry and my feet hurt. Are you almost done in there?" I whine because Lilly has been taking forever to try on clothes. This feels like the millionth store we have been to.

I got everything I needed within the first two hours of us being here. Lilly likes to go to every store and try on everything that catches her eye. She is a girly-girl. My tastes are simple, comfortable, and practical but I do like to keep it classy.

"All ready! Where do you want to eat?" Lilly exclaimed as she finally emerges from the dressing room.

"I don't care. I'm getting hangry. Any place with a drive thru is fine by me."

" Or we could just go to the food court. We parked right outside of it plus we can get whatever we want" She smiles at me.

" That's the best idea you've had all day. I'm going to get a little bit of everything!" I quicken my pace so I can get to the food court faster.

Luckily the mall isn't busy today. We were able to get our food within ten minutes and sit down. I got some chicken nuggets from McDonald's, a Whopper from Burger King, french fries and a frosty from Wendy's.

Once Lilly says down we began to eat. I was halfway through my Whopper when I felt like I was being watched. I tried to look around without looking paranoid. But Lilly started to notice.

" Stella what's wrong" she looked at me concerned

" I don't know. I feel like I'm being watched. Do you notice anyone looking at me?"

She nonchalantly looks around "No but I'm starting to feel it to. How about we just finish our food and get out of here?"

"Ok" I try to calm my nerves but my senses are on high alert

Fifteen minutes later, we are getting ready to leave. I go throw out trash away and take the opportunity to take a good look around. Nothing seems out of place. There are a few groups of teenagers walking around or sitting at the tables.

"All right. Let's get out of here. Stay on high alert but try not to look tense." I whisper

I grab Lilly's hand. As we walked towards the exit I noticed someone in my peripheral vision following us. He looked rugged. Like someone you wouldn't want to meet in a dark alley.

"Look but don't be obvious. Do you see the guy in the leather jacket behind the soda machines?" I said to Lilly.

"Yeah. Do you think it's him?'

" It's got to be. I don't want him following us to your car. What should we do?" I tried not to panic. My training has prepared me for a situation likes this. I should know what to do.

"I got it!" Lilly exclaimed " Follow my lead"

She was looking straight ahead at a group of guys who had just come through the mall entrance. They were probably wolves from another pack. They were too tall and handsome to be human and I had never seen them before.

Oh, no. Lilly is walking us right up to them.

"Hey guys, I know you don't know us but could you pretend that you do. This creepy looking guy has been following us since the food court and we don't feel safe."

"Sure thing! We would never say no to a couple of damsels in distress." The leader of the group said.

I looked up at him. He had the most gorgeous green eyes I've ever seen. I felt like I could get lost in them. My heart felt like it skipped a beat.

Lilly nudged my arm " Yeah, we would greatly appreciate the help. Could you walk us to her car, please?"

" Of course. Lead the way ladies."

We walked slightly in front of the guys. Lilly kept talking to them. I could feel the leader's eyes on me the whole time.

" Here we are! Thank you guys so much and don't forget about the party Saturday. It's Stella's 18th birthday party. I hope to see y'all there!"

Wait! What! I obviously missed something.

"By the way, I'm Troy. I guess I'll see you Saturday. We were already invited by your Alpha. We originally were not going to go but the personal invitation has persuaded us otherwise." He winked at me.

"Ok" I stammered out. Who is this guy?

" Bye guys! See you Saturday!" Lilly waved to them.

We got in her car and started driving.

" Lilly, what did you say to them? Who are they and why did you invite them to the party?"

" First of all, Troy is the soon to be Alpha of the Silver Sky pack. The other two guys are Alex, who is Troy's brother, and Lucas, his future Beta. Alpha Nicholas sent them an invite last week. I didn't know until I brought up the party. They asked if it was the same one and when I affirmed, they said they will be there. Isn't it exciting?"

" It's not like I have a choice." I rolled my eyes at her.

" Hey, what did I tell you about eye rolling?" She giggled " Plus I didn't think you would mind. I saw the way you were looking at Troy. You have a thing for him."

I gasped "I do not! Boys are bleh. I have more important things to worry about"

" Whatever. You need to have some fun Stells. It wouldn't kill you to live a little."

She's right. I need to have some fun. I'm almost 18 and I've never been kissed or really done any teenager-like things. I did feel a pull to Troy. It was probably just his confidence or whatever. Maybe I will try to have some fun

" You know what! You're right. Saturday I'm going to try my best to act my age. And you are going to help me. Meet me in my room at 4 pm and we will get ready together."

" Oh my gosh! Really?! I can't wait! You won't regret this." She said

Lilly dropped me off at the pack house and I headed up to my room. I dumped all my shopping bags out on my bed so I could put the clothes away.

My dress for Saturday had to be hung up immediately. I didn't want it to get wrinkled. The dress is navy blue. It has a sweetheart neck line and it flows from my waist down. I bought some strappy silver heels to go with it. Hopefully I can walk in them.

I'm so nervous. I didn't really want a party but I'm kind of glad nobody listened to me. Maybe it will be a good for me. I'm more excited about what happens at midnight. I'll finally shift and meet my wolf. Fingers crossed nothing bad happens.
