Leah’s POV
We arrived at the hospital a little later than planned. We got into the intensive care unit and were told no more than 2 at a time. Kai and I took over from Mel and Cal, who hadn’t left her room.
"Go home, sleep, eat, have a shower. We don’t want to see you for at least 6 hours but would prefer it to be 8! Let us have some time with her and you can recharge your batteries". Kai was parenting his parents.
"And Cal, trim your beard, you look like a tramp" I winked, trying to lighten the thick air.
He grinned at me "Yes boss!"
"Dude, if I was your boss, I would have told you to shave that thing off when you signed the contract. I just don’t get them!"
He chuckled "yes ma’am", he saluted me, and he and Mel left, not before giving us both a hug.
