The Outcast Shifter

Anya's POV Shit s**t s**t. I didn't expect this to happen. It's the day before her 18th birthday and she thought she had more time as she sits in her bedroom panicking and packing. She belongs to a family of shifters, snow leopards to be exact and with her kind they change on their 18th birthday but she changed on her 16th and found out that she isn't even the same species as them. She shifted while on her daily run through woods and she knew she was about to shift but when she realized she was not a snow leopard like her family she freaked, she was a dragon. She was told they went extinct eons ago. She once asked her parents if shifters could have a different species than their parents. " definitely not" said her father "the only time that happens is if the parents are two different species" said her mother. "And even that is rare because mixed offspring barely make it through the first year if they make it to birth at all." said her father. "Oh.." Anya said more to herself than to her parents. " ok thanks for telling me. um one of my friends was asking if you might know since they wouldn't answer her in class today" she sneakily lied. "anytime sweetie" said both of her parents as she walked up to her bedroom. As she is pacing back and forth in her room she hears a gentil voice in her head. Unknown: can you hear me. Anya: yes who is this. Unknown: I am Résheoid your dragon you may call me lune tho. Anya: Oh ok why didn't you speak to me earlier. Résheoid: You were a bit stressed out to start with and honestly the last thing you need right now is you parents to see you spacing out talking to me when your worried about telling them about us shifting already. Anya: oh yeah that would be bad. so I take it we shouldn't tell them yet huh? Résheoid: If we can help it no one will know until we are away from them. we are the only female of our kind. There is a male out there our mate but we must find him first or vice versa. Anya: Oh so do you already know what kind he is? Résheoid: Yes we can only mated with our own kind if another tried to claim us it could be disastrous. Anya: Oh that's not good. will other seek us out if they know what we are? Résheoid: Yes sadly and not for the good either. Dragon's you see, once we have fully matured and gain all of our powers are very powerful. People will seek us for that power and try to capture us and use us. We were the first shifters you see others came after us as our kind migrated we became able to take other forms along with normalizing a ham form. Anya: Oh ok so what do we do now? How do we find out mate? How am I a dragon when the rest of my family are not? I have so many questions and no answers. Résheoid: All in good time my dear for now the less you know the better so info cannot accidently slip to someone who shouldn't know. after your 18th when we can leave will you start to learn what you need. Anya: Ok so I'll wait till then and keep quiet. It's going to be a long 2 years isn't it. Résheoid: Yes, yes it is.
