Down Day

1454 Words

When I wake up the next morning, Kenton Crowley is staring down at me with half-worry and half-amusement. “Good morning, Lady Nell. You alright down there?” I rub my eyes, grinning slightly. “Are you suggesting there’s something unusual in your world about a girl sleeping outside and using a unicorn as a pillow? Where I’m from, it’s totally normal.” He laughs. I’m glad he has a sense of humor. He looks a little embarrassed to be seeing me in my nightgown, or whatever the hell it is that I’m wearing, but I’m not particularly embarrassed; it’s still covering more of me than anything I ever wore to bed back home. “Not at all strange,” he assures me as he leans down to offer me a hand.  I accept, rising to my feet and giving Archie an easy smile as he does the same. I turn back to Kenton.
