American Tourists I had little time to reflect on Lady Muniche’s frailty, for Beth and Joel were scheduled to arrive on Monday, June 5th. They both looked forward to seeing all of the wonders of München and the Bavarian countryside, so I hurried to finish preparing for our eleventh century journey before their arrival. I laid out an outfit for each of us: a red-violet dress for myself, a tawny yellow dress for Beth, and a long greenish tunic with tawny trousers for Joel. I had prepared all of our clothing in colors that generally belonged to the higher classes, for I suspected that it would prove easier to assimilate with society if we presented ourselves as wealthy travelers.
