Glory and Tragedy Friday, June 16th, 2000, dawned with clear blue skies and warm Föhn blowing from across the Isar. The two weeks I had spent with Beth and Joel had been truly refreshing, for it had been years since I had toured some of the elegant landmarks in my city. We had marveled at the Residenz, the Deutsches Museum, several of the larger art galleries, the BMW museum, and the full collection of churches: Alter Peter, the Frauenkirche, the Theatinerkirche, the Asamkirche, and St. Michael Kirche.
