I’m happy that it’s Friday. Michelle and Jonathan were bugging us all week. They were still trying to break us up. I don’t care what they do. They will never get Alex and me to break up. Like Alex said they deserve each other. They are in a loveless relationship. Jonathan realizes that he still loves me. He should have thought about that before going out with Michelle. I got over him pretty quickly because of Alex.
I hear a knock on my front door. It’s Nicole. She is being followed in by her little sister, Abbie. I forgot Nikki has a sister. She talks more about her brother than her little sister. Abbie smiles shyly at me. We haven’t seen each other in a long time. She’s always been shy. “Hello Abbie, how are you? It’s been such a long time since I’ve seen you.”
“I’m good. I know! It’s been forever. You don’t come around as much as you used to. I want to see Mason too,” she responds with a sly smile. She is holding onto Nikki’s leg. It makes laugh because she’s still so young. She still doesn’t understand a lot of the world. I pull her from Nikki’s leg and give her a big hug. She hugs me back, but she’s still a little shy around me. That’s okay though. I’m sure she will warm up to me later in the evening.
“That’s good. I’ll show you to his room,” I respond. She follows me to Mace’s room. I knock on the door. He looks a little upset when he comes out. What’s going through Mason’s head right now? I’m going to ask him before I go to bed tonight. He may come lay with me later anyway. He smiles a little when he sees we have a guest. Like me he didn’t know we were going to be graced by Abbie.
Nicole comes into the room a few seconds later. She gives Mason hug. I’m surprised she didn’t hug him at the picnic. Mason smiles, but still isn’t in all that great of a mood. I’m always worried about my baby brother. “Sorry, I had to bring her along. Mom wanted her to get out of the house. She may be social, but she doesn’t get out a lot. Most of her friends are busy during the week. Their parents don’t let them out a lot. I feel bad for her. I wanted her to come and enjoy herself. She’ll be able to talk to us or Mason. It will be a fun night.”
I nod and look over at Mason. I can still see the sadness in his eyes. I’m the only one who can tell right now. “What could be going on with him? I hope he’s able to tell me after Nikki and Abbie are sleeping.”
“So what do you want to do first? Do you want to watch movies, play video games, or do makeovers,” Nicole asks distracting me from my thoughts. I blink and look over at her. I think I spaced out for a minute.
“I say we start out with video games, after that our makeovers, and then settle in to watch some movies,” I respond. I hear Nicole’s ringtone go off. Her facial expression changes from happiness to sadness within seconds. I can only guess that Nicholas is calling right now. She ignores the phone call. “It was Nicholas, wasn’t it?”
“Yes, I haven’t answered him in a week. He’s mad at me because of it. He hasn’t said anything rude to me, but I feel as if he’s stalking me now,” Nikki responds. I see her lip starting to quiver. I pull her into a tight hug. She’s trying her hardest not to cry. She calms down a couple of seconds later. “Oh, I forgot. I need to call my mom. She told me to call her when we got here.”
She goes to make her phone call. I go check on Mason and Abbie. It seems they are enjoying spending time together. Mason is talking about his new girlfriend. Abbie looks a little down because of it. “Hey Mace, can we talk for a minute?”
“Sure Bre, I’ll be right back, Abbie,” Mason responds. I pull him into my room to talk for a couple of seconds.
“I think Abbie likes you. Please try not to talk about your girlfriend, okay,” I tell him.
“Alright, sis, I’ll change the subject,” he says. He’s smiling pretty wide. Actually he’s been walking on air since he got a girlfriend. He showed me a picture of her. My little bro really cares about his girlfriend.
“Thank you. I need to talk to you later, okay? I’ll come into your room once Abbie and Nicole are sleeping. You’ll still be awake I’m sure. You haven’t really been sleeping too well. You only do when you’re lying down with me.”
“You’re like a pillow to me. I always used to sleep next to you when we were little. Mom told me I loved you more than everyone else except for her. She also told me I would cry unless I was with either one of you,” Mason responds
“I know. I love that you’re attached to me. Our bond is still the same. Get back to Abbie now. I’ll talk to you in a couple of hours,” I respond and ruffle his hair before he goes back in his room.
“Okay,” he responds, rolls his eyes at me for ruffling his hair, and then goes back into his room. She wasn’t as sad when they change the subject. Nicole is crying in my room once I get back. I go over to her and hug her. She cries on my shoulder. I feel horrible for her.
“What happened while you were downstairs,” I ask her.
“Nicholas sent me a text saying he was upset with me. He doesn’t like the way I’m treating him. He said he deserves someone else. I’m not good enough for him. Is it sad I’m crying over this, Aubrey? Let’s do something to get my mind off of this.”
“We need to talk first. You need to break up with him. Please, this is slowly killing you on the inside. He doesn’t love you as much as you think he does. Please, listen to me for once. You will find someone that loves you for who you are. They will treat you right. They won’t say stuff like that to you.”
“You’re right. I’m going to break up with him tonight. I want to tell him in person. Will you come with me,” Nicole asks me.
“Sure, I would love to be there for that,” I say with a smile. She smiles after that. We get into her car. We need to be back before curfew. We drive over to Nicholas’ house.
